Please use the correct date format

Hi Giogo,

Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed you mentioned a date on File:Entrée de la collégiale.JPG. Please know that in order for dates to be automatically detected and translated into other languages it needs to be in the YYYY-MM-DD format (ie. 2024-01 for January 2024 or 2024-05-08 for 8 May 2024). Also, for other (less specific) dates use {{Other date}} for centuries, ranges, 'circa' etc. like this: {{other date|between|1899|1903}} for "between 1899 and 1903

date QS:P,+1500-00-00T00:00:00Z/6,P1319,+1899-00-00T00:00:00Z/9,P1326,+1903-00-00T00:00:00Z/9

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

please pardon me for writing in English but feel free to respond in French. You've uploaded the following two pictures of stained glass fragments from c. 1260, embedded in modern glass work, depicting two bishops:

  Loup de Bayeux

The bishops are neither anonymous nor from Bayeux. Let me quote from Martine Callias Bey and Véronique David, Les vitraux de Basse-Normandie, ISBN 2-84706-240-8, p. 74:

2 lancettes en arc brisé. H. 4,50 m - L. 1,60 m. Verrière composite avec remploi de deux grandes figures d'évêques du XIII^e s. (H. 1,60 m - L. 0,45 m), les saints Exupère et Loup, au centre d'une vitrerie de complément incolore à filets entrecroisés. Ces deux figures avaient été déposées à la bibliothèque du chapitre.

Merci beaucoup pour votre réponse, Giogo. You are right, both windows depict indeed bishops from Bayeux. This is even confirmed by the work of Martine Callias-Bey and Véronique David. It is not mentioned in the index of stained glass of Bayeux where I looked first but in the introduction to Bayeux which I unfortunately skipped. Let me quote p. 73:

Les saints évêques de Bayeux furent fréquemment représentés dans la cathédrale, notamment peints par des artistes issus du milieu franco-flamand, sur les voûtes du chœur en pierre peinte ou encore dans le baies hautes de la nef, achevées vers 1255. En 1705, l'historien Hermant a pu voir sur ces verrières les figures des saints Exupère, Rufinien, Loup, Patrice, Manvieu, Contest, Frambaud, Gérétrand et Hugues. De cette série des saints évêques de Bayeux réalisée dans les années 1260, il ne subsiste que les deux figures de saint Exupère et de saint Loup, d'une facture rapide, d'un trait épais et rigide, reposées dans le déambulatoire nord après avoir longtemps séjourné dans le baies de la bibliothèques du chapitre.
