Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii images[edit]

Please use {{Creator:Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii}}, what is common practice for work of art on Commons.

I just created it. Feel free to improve it.

Re: Khatyn images[edit]

Could you explain why you deleted Khatyn images, which were apparently made by your brother? --Ghirlandajo 06:37, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--EugeneZelenko 14:42, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jeremiah[edit]

Hi, Ghirlandaio! I see you have uploaded a restored version of Jeremiah. Very good, but you uploaded the restored one in place of the unrestored one. Please don't! Because if the unrestored painting has been intentionally used on a page, Restoration of the Sistine Chapel frescoes, for example, the image now looks very different.

Would you please revert to the original dirty picture, and upload the restored version under a similiar name with the word "restored" included. Mandy 12:05, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Russian Kremlin images, etc[edit]

You may remember this Commons:Deletion_requests/License_tags_of_russian_websites from some time ago. I would ask that you look at Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#PD-RU-exempt_images_from_Kremlin.ru, as I believe your input may be useful in helping to determine whether Template:PD-RU-exempt is allowable for images and the like. Cheers, --russavia (talk) 02:38, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Walks.ru[edit]

Hi Ghirla, we have quite a few photos from walks.ru, such as File:Kremlingrand.jpg, and it's stated that he has licenced under GFDL and CC. Is there an OTRS for this? It would be good to upload more of his photos for use in articles, if he has given this permission, and perhaps create a category on Commons such as Category:Photos by Marina Lystseva so that all of his photos are also found in one central place on commons. If there isn't OTRS, could you possibly get his confirmation and send it to OTRS, so that there won't be any doubt in case they should ever be put up for deletion. What do you think? --russavia (talk) 07:53, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, scrub that, I see he has it right down the bottom of the main page on his website. I'll create a category for his photos, and perhaps a template. Cheers, --russavia (talk) 07:55, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And I see there is already a template. I've updated it a little bit, but have created Category:Photos from Walks.ru in which the photos will be founds. I will go thru the photos which link from the template over time, and will add the Template:Information to them, and then they should all appear in the category also. --russavia (talk) 08:53, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photo question[edit]

Greeting Ghirla, I have a question about one of your photos from the Ascension Church in Yaroslavl. Can you contact me at: ablattner@osb.org thanks! Ann

File:Mikh_yar_3.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

NVO (talk) 18:16, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

--Ghirlandajo (talk) 20:33, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
--Ghirlandajo (talk) 20:35, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

?? Category:Wooden window surrounds in Russia? --Ghirlandajo (talk) 07:00, 15 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

NVO (talk) 15:06, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

О Переславском кремле я бы написал "the site of Pereslavl Kremlin". --Ghirlandajo (talk) 20:33, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:Oldamberroom.jpg[edit]

Hi Ghirla, in relation to File:Oldamberroom.jpg you have stated that this is your own work, but that it is {{PD-Russia}}. Can you please choose a valid licence in relation to the above, or if it isn't your own work please give sources for it, otherwise it is subject to deletion. I am currently cleaning up the PD-Russia category. russavia (talk) 03:39, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help.

To make future contests even more successful than this year, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in a short survey. Please fill in this short survey in your own language, and help us learn what you liked and didn't like about Wiki Loves Monuments 2012.

--INS Pirat (talk) 11:27, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 20:58, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You should add a source for the information "name lost". Thats a photo from the studio Mayer & Pierson in Paris, compare to Bildarchiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz, ID 10018396. Therefore also the copyright tag for the country of origin is missing (France), the tag for Russia is irrelevant for Commons unless there is evidence that Russia is the country of first publication. --Martin H. (talk) 22:36, 15 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Retired electrician (talk) 15:23, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

--Ghirlandajo (talk) 13:14, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Retired electrician (talk) 16:47, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the nice Courbet. Shouldn't the license be PD-Art-100? Courbet is long gone, his work is public domain, not CC. Thanks, regards, Hansmuller (talk) 15:18, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • PD-art is for "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art". This picture includes a frame which is not two-dimensional. --Ghirlandajo (talk) 15:25, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • That's really funny, the frame is not part of the work of art, you clearly intend the painting, not the frame! A painting is considered to be a two-dimensional object, even a van Gogh with thick paint! So this Courbet it is really PD-Art, like all old pictures from museums irrespective of their packaging etc.. Regards, Hansmuller (talk) 15:51, 31 May

2015 (UTC). Anyway, a 3-dim old artwork would also be PD-Art..Hansmuller (talk) 15:53, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Looks like you marked this picture Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0 after some conversation with Victor Borisov? I can't find the license here: https://victorborisov.livejournal.com/138808.html (which means by default it's all rights reserved) - if he marked it with a free license somewhere else on his website, could you tell me? If he didn't, could you get him to email COM:OTRS? Otherwise we're going to have to assume it's copyrighted. Sorry. --GRuban (talk) 17:59, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please enable e-mail to be eligible to win a prize in Wiki Loves Monuments![edit]

Thank you for uploading images for Wiki Loves Monuments!

However, we have noticed you have not enabled e-mail. To be eligible to win a prize the contest, you need to enable e-mail. This is what to do:

  1. Check the top right of your screen, and log in if you have not done so already
  2. Go to your preferences
  3. Scroll down to Email Options
  4. Enter your email address and click "Allow other users to email me"
  5. Click Save

Hello, please, don't just override my image without contacting me first. There are several reason for that: the image is a QI already and shouldn't undergo significant changes; I've the raw file and can always create a new version out of it without quality loss (which happens when reworking a JPG); it's unpolite when I explicitly ask in the description page not to do it.
