Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

No, I had not seen your question to User:Hekerui and I could not see it as it is on his talk page. I deleted the file as a copyright violation after it was nominated by another editor, which is correct. It is not important if it is TV capture of video capture. Duplicate reply[edit]

Posting this the second time now just in case I didn't get it right the firdt time around! I've hardly ever used wikimedia so I couldn't figure out how to get in touch with you to remove it, therefore I removed the picture myself. It's taken of me, and suddenly I found it out there on the net. I don't want it on an open website that everyone can access, with pages like IAM and whatnot. That's why I removed it, so I hope you can remove it for me? Regards! (talk)

Årets wiki-julebord - fortsatt plasser for deltakere i Wili Loves Monuments 2014 ![edit]

Tusen takk for ditt bidragtil Wiki Loves Monuments 2014!. For deltakere i fotokonkurransen er det fortsatt ledige plasser til Wikimedia Norges tradisjonsrike julebord - stedet hvor wikipedianere runder av året sammen i hyggelig lag. Tradisjonen tro samles vi i andre etasje på Gamle Rådhus i Oslo, mandag 8. desember kl 18.00. Det blir premiering av vinnerne av Wiki Loves Monuments, og styret vil i tillegg markere valget av Årets Wikipedianer. Årets WLM-jury har efter hårt kämpande och stor vånda kommit till ett resultat, och på fredag 11 december, 10.00 (SNT), tar vi första steget i tillkännagivandet när vi i en livestream på youtube presenterar de tio bilder som går vidare till internationella finalen. Du, och alla andra, är välkommen att vara med när bilderna presenteras av Eric Luth och Johanna Berg.

Du får det här meddelandet eftersom du tidigare har bidragit med bilder till de svenska deltävlingarna av Wiki Loves Earth eller Wiki Loves Monuments. Jag hoppas att du vill vara med i år också! Som vanligt ingår naturreservat och nationalparker, biosfärområden och naturminnen i tävlingen! Nytt för i år är att vi utöver bästa foto även belönar fotograferande av tidigare ofotograferade objekt samt bästa bildserie om minst tio fotografier av samma objekt. Tävlingen börjar 1 maj, och pågår under hela maj månad. Om du har varit ute i världen och rest kan du även se om resorna sammanfaller med övriga internationella deltävlingar, och i så fall vara med och tävla även där.
