Finnish Air Force flags

Mate, what is going on? Why the fantastic flags are being kept?

Example: Lapland's (previously Häme's) Air Command flag

1. Mostly correct file ; 2. Incorrect life ; 3. Very incorrect file ; 4. very very incorrect file .

Qatar Airforce Roundel and Emblem

Another thing that has been really bugging me is this, the Qatari airforce roundel actually uses the same colors as the Qatar flag; the Red seems to be based on a erroneous report probably based on a faded flag.

Meanwhile this is a closest thing I can find to a digital version of their emblem and basically it's a powerpoint slide.

Thanks Fry, by the way, I searched through 500 Arabic Fonts and I found the one used on the Libyan seal, it's Boahmed Alhour --Thegunkid (talk) 21:34, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

UAE Armed Forces Emblem and Flag

I also stumbled on this when was researching the Libyan coat of arms, and basically the Emirate Armed Forces uses their own version of the Hawk, and their flag is basically the UAE red ensign defaced with it.

Flag of El Paso, Texas.svg

I'm sorry for bothering you with such a basic request, but can you change the background of this flag to blue (preferably the same blue as the flag of Texas) per the legal specifications, I don't know how this got by for years with this purple color. --Thegunkid (talk) 16:34, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Standard of Alexandra of Denmark

Hey, just to let you know, the cross and quarters should be delineated black based on the actual flag; and is there any reason for two shades of red on the flag? This is the authoritative flag being as it was presented by the Queen herself.

http://i.imgur.com/eEp5JRd.jpg

Also you should add a note it's also known as the "Shackleton flag", and is known as being most expensive flag to ever be sold at Auction.

--Thegunkid (talk) 01:34, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Thegunkid, yeah, I want to redo the Danish half properly some time, but it is a little tricky for me. Eventually I'll be able to give it the respect it deserves. Thanks for the photos, they help a lot. Fry1989 eh? 17:21, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Canadian Army Flag

Dear Fry1989,

Its been a while! I would like your help moving the file: File:Flag of the Canadian Army (2016).svg to the name File:Flag of the Canadian Army.svg. I think I messed up when I tried to replace the old file and it can't be changed back. Now I don't know what to do. Please help! Sodacan (talk) 02:43, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

PS I have made a replacement for all the Canadian Armed Forces rank insignias recently. I have implemented some of the changes in the various articles on English Wikipedia, but they have been reverted by an IP. Please help me keep a look out for them.
@Sodacan: , I must apologise to you, but I did not see your comment or else I would have tried to fix it right away. I did notice your rank insignia uploads and they are amazing. I will help maintain the article. Please accept my apologies. Fry1989 eh? 19:15, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
No worries, I think both problems have been resolved. --Sodacan (talk) 00:54, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

SVG flag fringes?

Howdy. What's your opinion of fringes on SVG flags? Should they be part of it or not? Are they considered part of the flag or just an add-on? – Illegitimate Barrister (talk) 20:35, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

IMO, a fringe is not part of a flag. An alternative file including the fringe may be uploaded, but it shouldn't be on the main file. Fry1989 eh? 00:00, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. That's what I figured too: The fringe is an add-on and not part of the flag proper. – Illegitimate Barrister (talk) 04:20, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

Coats of arms for HRH The Duke of Gloucester & family

@Fry1989: hi Fry! You were so kind as to produce vastly improved images of various members of the Booth family, which look great on their relevant pages in Wiki and much enhance the narrative in my view. Thanks again for these. I note that your interest seems to be more towards royalty, so if you are agreeable here is a way of combining the two! It would be helpful for the article Armorial britannique if correct images of HRH The Duke's arms depicting his augmentation of honour as Grand Prior of St. John (ie. with the Order's banner in chief) and also those of his daughter-in-law, Dr Claire Booth (aka Lady Ulster), whose Booth family arms are displayed on an escutcheon of pretence over those of her husband, Alexander, Earl of Ulster. Much obliged if this is feasible & please advise if there is any more info required (eg. blazon..) in order to facilitate this.
Many thanks. L'honorable (talk) 19:59, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

@L'honorable: , thank you for the suggestions. I admit I am pretty royally obsessed haha. I have been a bit slow lately, but I will certainly take a look at making the images you have mentioned. Fry1989 eh? 22:09, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
@Fry1989: un grand merci! L'honorable (talk) 22:21, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
PS. for the sake of order, there are four permissible options available under the laws of heraldry for the depiction of the Earl and Countess of Ulster's arms :
1. Gloucester with Henriksen in pretence, impaled with Booth ;
2. Gloucester (without Henriksen), impaled with Booth ;
3. Gloucester with Henriksen in pretence, en surtout Booth on an inescutcheon ;
4. Gloucester with Booth in pretence ;
the most accurate (but not necessarily the best aesthetically) would be the patrilineal arms of Lord Ulster (Gloucester) displayed with his mother's arms of Henriksen on an escutcheon of pretence, and the Booth arms represented on an inescutcheon en surtout. Technically correct, but complicated! so otherwise just the Booth inescutcheon on Alexander Windsor's arms would suffice (because, of course, upon the decease of his mother, HRH The Duchess, he will then quarter her family arms). It should also be pointed out that whilst he remains Earl of Ulster by courtesy, his arms are borne as would a gentleman (unless he were knighted etc, which is not the case).
PPS. qv. Complete Guide to Heraldry, Arthur Fox-Davies : The Marshalling of Arms, Ch. XXXIII (1909).

Looking forward to liaising further - many thanks. L'honorable (talk) 22:32, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

SVG Scrubber

I wasn't aware of SVG scrubbers. You say you're not a fan of them so I'm wondering what the pros and cons are and which brands might be might be preferred over the others.--Glasshouse (talk) 22:54, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

Superficially, they do nothing but reduce the file size. My problem is that I am part autistic so I am extremely obsessed with exactness in the images I create, every little point being where I want it. So when I make an image and then use a scrubber, some points here or there get moved around a little bit. You won't see it unless you're magnifying the image really high or editing it, so if you don't care so much about every little point being here or there, it would be great for you. If you're more obsessive like me, it might not be. My prejudice is entirely personal, most users would probably even say I am unreasonable. Fry1989 eh? 23:10, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

Some of your reverts

Hello Fry1989, You reverted some of my edits like this. May a ask for the reason, since I don't think the uploader of the files is his owner. This a potentially Copyright violations and need in my opinion permission by the owner. Greetings, --Der Buckesfelder  Talk  Evaluation  E-Mail  commons 20:45, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

It would be nice to get an answer very soon. Otherwise, I will place the missing permission heading again. --Der Buckesfelder  Talk  Evaluation  E-Mail  commons 08:13, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
I apologise, I had forgotten to respond. I removed the No Permission tag because I disagree that the current licensing is insufficient. It is the right of any user to do so. You may nominate the file for deletion if you disagree. Fry1989 eh? 20:33, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
But still there is the problem, that the user probably is NOT the owner of the logo! I marked it now as copyvio. --Der Buckesfelder  Talk  Evaluation  E-Mail  commons 09:48, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
Which was the inappropriate action. I explained that you are supposed to nominate it for deletion. The removal of the original template also says "If you disagree, nominate for deletion." Please follow proper procedure in the future. Fry1989 eh? 17:54, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
No, it wasn't! To upload an image of which you are not the originator, is a copyright violation. There is no need for a discussion about deletion! But if you think, it was needed, YOU could nominate it for deletion instead of simple remove the npd template! You didn't! So it is a copyvio until the originator of the logo sends a permission. Until now it is not done. So I don't get your point. In addition, it don't know, which template says your quoted sentence. It is not in {{Npd}}. I don't want to offend you, but do had a look at Commons:Threshold_of_originality#Logos_and_flags? Logos are sometimes very difficult to separate between copyvio and not-copyvio. --Der Buckesfelder  Talk  Evaluation  E-Mail  commons 07:55, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Flag of New York City

You've done great work on the Flag of the City of New York[1], and now that we've got the colors right I wanted to discuss some further changes which I think should be made. There are a great many versions of the flag available online, and out in the world, some of which I think may be spread from this image and its position of prominence. So many vendors will grab the Wikipedia graphic, and it's perpetuating an incorrect version of the flag that's spreading everywhere.

I went back to the original statute which establishes the official parameters, and there are two problems with the flag as we have it. According to Section 2-103 of the New York City Administrative Code ("Official city flag") the seal should not have the Latin motto, but it should be the city seal in every other respect. The Code states:

A flag combining the colors orange, white and blue arranged in perpendicular bars of equal dimensions (the blue being nearest to the flagstaff) with the standard design of the seal of the city in blue upon the middle, or white bar, omitting the legend "Sigillum Civitatis Novi Eboraci," which colors shall be the same as those of the flag of the United Netherlands in use in the year sixteen hundred twenty-five.[2]

In addition, the version being sold on the city's official online store omits the motto as well.[3] The code doesn't say anything about using a variant circular version of the seal either, so we should use the official oblong version. Now, there are plenty of examples in the wild of an incorrect city flag bearing a circular seal with Latin motto, but those don't comport with the official specs in the City Code. Considering this image is used across Wikipedia as a symbol of the city, what would you say about updated this image to reflect the official version? Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign for User:The Photographer

Please excuse me spamming you, which concerns Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign. My contributions cover the architecture and culture of Brazil and Venezuela. I has basic photographic equipment: an old D300 camera and 35mm lens, and it is very expensive for me to acquire this equipment. I has recently taken several images using the technique where multiple frames are stitched together to create a high-resolution panorama. However, many times frustrated with the stitching errors that result from trying to take such photos without a proper panoramic head for his tripod. This special equipment permits the camera to be rotated around the entrance pupil of the lens, and eliminates such errors. Having a panoramic head would greatly increase the potential for The Photographer to create sharp high-resolution images for Commons. In addition, the purchase of a camera with a fisheye lens would enable 180 × 360° panoramas to be taken, which are a great way to explore a scene as though one is really there.

Please see the discussion about the Crowd-funding campaign on User talk:The Photographer#Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign and visit the Generosity Crowd-funding Campaign page to consider donating. Even a modest donation will make a difference if many people contribute. Thanks. --The Photographer 13:44, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

Post 2011 Coat of Arms of Libya

Hello my friend, it's been a long time since I've asked you for a favor.A

Today I'm wondering if you could do me a favor and make a version of the Hawk of Quraish, all yellow with black outline, with the Libyan flag on the shield horizontal, not vertical, a la the Iraqi coat of arms.

The reason I ask is because it is still used by the Libyan Military for rank and cap insignia.

Also Inversely, outside of Rank insignia, the Libyan Army uses the coat of arms with the proper heraldic orientation (vertical flag)

http://www.libyaschannel.com/2015/06/30/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%AF%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%A7%D9%85%D8%A9-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%AC%D9%8A%D8%B4-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A8%D9%8A-%D8%AA%D8%B5%D8%AF%D8%B1-%D8%AA%D9%83%D9%84%D9%8A/

The banner reads القيادة العامة للقوات المسلحة (En:General Command/Administration of the Armed Forces).

This is the seal of the General Command of national army http://www.libyaschannel.com/2016/07/22/%D8%BA%D8%B1%D9%81%D8%A9-%D8%B9%D9%85%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AC%D9%8A%D8%B4-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D8%B7%D9%86%D9%8A-%D8%AA%D8%B9%D8%AB%D8%B1-%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89-14-%D8%AC%D8%AB%D8%A9/

It states القيادة العامة للجيش الوطني at the top, and عمليات الجيش الوطني at the bottom, and again below the olive branch; I'll figure out what fonts they used when I get home.

Oh yeah, to add, the flag of the army is apparently the coat of arms in all gold, like the Gaddafi era, with the flag in the shield in color, and on a plain white flag.

Road signs in Myanmar

Dear Fry1989, I am currently working in Myanmar on road related project and I am looking for road signs design. Did you create by yourself the svg file of the Myanmar Stop sign ? Please do not put files in this category. This category is a metacategory and should contain only other categories. I have moved all the files you put here back to Category:Stop signs. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:57, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

I created that category with a specific intent, I know what it is. Fry1989 eh? 14:53, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
Then it needs a more appropriate name, and probably a description of what goes here instead of in Category:Stop signs. The name "Stop signs by inscription" indicates that it contains subcategories grouped by what is written on the sign: in other words, a metacategory. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:15, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
Can you please explain what your "specific intent" was for this category? I don't think it can remain with this name and not be a metacat, which would mean no files allowed in it. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:12, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
It is my intention to contain all stop signs regardless of their inscription. However I do not believe there should be a sub-category for a single image, so any signs with only one or two images should remain in the master category. Fry1989 eh? 16:38, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
I agree that signs without a specific subcategory should remain in the master category. However, the master category is Category:Stop signs, not Category:Stop signs by inscription. Categories whose names indicate "by" something like this are metacategories, which contain only categories and no files. The name Category:Stop signs by inscription means "stop signs grouped by what is written on them", not "stop signs that have something written on them". That might not be what you intended, but that's the what the kind of name you chose means. It's common for there to be files that don't fit into a grouping under a metacategory; those files just stay in the metacategory's parent cat. In any case, I nominated the category for discussion, so we will see what others think. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:45, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

@Thegunkid: , I could make the canton, but the tree is beyond my abilities. Fry1989 eh? 16:36, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

By the way, the PNG does not have an increscent... AnonMoos (talk) 06:41, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

SADC road sign TR581.svg

Hello !

"Dont" is very short, isn't it ?

My changes are introducing some fluency to make update and create new road signs. It is what I tested by using styles CSS. I've generated easily the other signs of the same family.

On the other hand, you can cancel a change in the 'history' tab, instead of reloading your version.

for the pleasure of reading you soon.

I am sorry, but I don't like users using different types of code or file size reduction on my images. I find it usually creates minor flaws in the original image. Fry1989 eh? 18:47, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
I remind you that you drop Wikimedia longer belongs to you even if you are the author.
Then I do not use another code as it is the use of style sheets in SVG as W3C recommendations.

Hello!

SVG source of the current version of this file contains an additional invisible Ukraine's outline beyond page borders.

Is it ok?

France road sign C27.svg

Hello and thanks for your relevant changes.

But, would it be possible to change the borders, currently blue, in black for this sign (this is SVG format)?

Good continuation, Mathis73 (talk) 09:36, 20 August 2017 (UTC).

I have fixed the image as requested. Thanks :) Fry1989 eh? 17:10, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Australia flag undeletion request

Hi, I added my support for your undeletion request but I'm really confused/curious as to why people are saying these are copyrighted. I'd like to be able to explain my answer better. Are the available online anywhere else I could see, ie imgur? Thanks! Wikimandia (talk) 18:33, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

@Wikimandia: , thank you. Yes, the two images I re-created were this flag and this flag. They aren't related to the Aboriginal Flag at all. Fry1989 eh? 17:04, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
Wow. Thanks. These are absolutely not related. I would add the links to your undelete request so anyone else stopping by can see the absurdity. Wikimandia (talk) 17:15, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Do you know where is this flag actually displayed? Because the symbol itself are actually used in a document of a law (see this), but I never see this flag displayed near the president (like POTUS flag). Thank you.--Hddty. (talk) 10:25, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

I do not have any photos, the only source we have is FOTW and Hubert-Herald. Fry1989 eh? 19:44, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Regarding Singaporean road signs "no stopping" and "no waiting"

Good day (or whatever time you're reading this)! Now that I have answered your message back at my talk I was hoping that you could give me an answer to one of my questions. I saw that you added the link to road signs "no stopping" and "no waiting". The reason as to why I myself was hesitant to do it when I added the links to all the other Singaporean road signs that you had done was that the official construction sheets for those particular signs included white arrows. My question is, are variants without arrows in use, and if so, could you give me a photograph, or, is it so that Singapore only uses these signs with white arrows? Thank you in advance. - VulpesVulpes42 (talk) 09:55, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

The SDRE only shows them with arrows, but the Basic Theory Of Driving handbook shows them also without the arrows. I do intend to upload versions with the arrows in the future. Fry1989 eh? 17:39, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
Well, that is a satisfactory answer. Thank you! - VulpesVulpes42 (talk) 20:14, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
Just a follow-up, I found some examples of these signs without the arrows. On major roads with emergency bays, there are signs which replace the arrow with the text "In parking bay". Fry1989 eh? 20:24, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

Category Tunnel-related road signs

I hope that you are not selective and hypocritical when it comes to independence movements.

I hope that you are not selective and hypocritical when it comes to independence movements. You have only voiced your support for an independent Catalonia. But what about your support for an independent Quebec which happens to be in Canada, an independent Basque Country, an independent Scotland, an independent Flanders, an independent Kurdistan, an independent Northern Cyprus, an independent Nagorno-Karabakh, an independent Republika Srpska, etc? — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 31.200.20.141 (talk) 19:43, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

I don't really have much of an obligation to answer, and since this is an IP address instead of a user I don't even know if you will come back to read this, but I will answer for the fun of it. I support self-determination as an inalienable human right. I don't believe any country is indivisible, and don't believe that a country can just put "indivisible" in their constitution and that magically makes it so. You raise the issue of Quebec. As a Canadian, that independence movement is the most relevant to me. I don't want Quebec to leave my country. I want Quebec to be a happy, successful, integrated, contributing member of the Canadian nation. That said, if Quebec held a referendum, and a majority of the population voted for independence, I would accept it. I would accept it because it is their democratic right, because I believe it is a human right, and because I believe that a peaceful divorce is better than an unhappy marriage forced by violence. Spain has used violence to force an unhappy marriage, and has violated the human rights of the Catalans in doing so. That is why I have expressed my support publicly on my Wikipedia/Commons accounts on this issue. I hope that answers your question. Fry1989 eh? 20:20, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
Fair enough. I retract what I said. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 31.200.20.141 (talk) 21:13, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

Construction sheets for New Zealand road signs

Hello again! When you asked me to send you any repositories that I stumbled across, I tried to think of any that I knew off the back of my head, and I realized that New Zealand had a similar repository as Ireland (albeit a bit less user-friendly). However, I was hesitant to send it to you because it was the same link that you yourself had provided as source for the road signs ([6]). In the end, I decided to bring this up with you despite that, since I had noticed (at least a few) discrepancies between their EPS images and your SVG images. The particular example that I had in mind was regarding your speed limit signs: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:New_Zealand_road_sign_R1-1_(50).svg

A fairly thick border... Now, compare this to the official diagram as provided by the New Zealand government:

http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/traffic-control-devices-manual/sign-specifications/view/5?category=677&subcategory1=&term=RG-1

Noticeably thinner border, which meant that one had to be wrong... I decided to do a little experiment with GIMP, in which I would convert their EPS image to an SVG, and load both your and their version at a size of 9000 pixels (since one of the sizes they listed was "900"). The correct image should in that case have had a red border with a width of 1100 pixels. The results were surprising: Both were too thick! The red border on your version came up at exactly 1500 pixels, while the New Zealand government's EPS had a red border 1124 pixels wide, so closer to the officially given measurement, but not quite.

I am not sure how this situation arose, but it should be fairly easy to correct with them having a repository with construction sheets, dimensions, proportions, and all that. Once again I want to make it clear that I am aware of your priorities, but I thought that it would be worth bringing up so that you might do something about it when you have more time. - VulpesVulpes42 (talk) 11:50, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi again. Yes there is a discrepancy with the New Zealand road signs. All the signs I uploaded were official, but the NZTA appears to have redesigned many of them, including the speed limit signs to have a smaller red border. Compare [7] with [8]. I am waiting on the NZTA a bit though because their repository used to be complete, but they recently redesigned the website as well and now they don't have all the signs anymore, they seem to be adding them back in pieces, and very slowly. It is annoying, but New Zealand will be a long-term project. I have to re-name all the signs here on Commons as well to meet the naming convention I proposed a few years back, but I also need all the signs to be in the repository to properly rename them because the NZTA has 3 different names for the signs, under the Rule, Code, or MoTSaM number, and I want it to be uniform. Fry1989 eh? 17:36, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
An interesting side-note, before the late 80s/ early 90s, the signs in New Zealand followed a very different pattern. They were black, with white symbols and either a red or yellow border, notice [9] and [10]. I've made the Give Way sign (which I need to re-do), and a few others, but there's more. I have tried to find as many photos as I can on websites like Flickr, but that's always a fishing expedition and don't have great luck. I emailed the NZTA asking if they have any old documents, they emailed me back a few days ago but I haven't read it yet. I'm kinda scared to. When I emailed the South African Government about any old copies of their former RTSMs with the 1960s-1990s design where the signs were blue like this, the woman I spoke with was very kind but said she only knew of one copy left and said it hadn't been digitized so it's staying soundly in her office. I'm scared of getting the same answer from the NZTA. Fry1989 eh? 17:54, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
I see. Given the circumstances, your choices and actions have been 100% logical. I had also noticed the confusing plethora of different codes and naming systems which the New Zealand government employs. By the way, thank you for sharing those pieces of trivia. They were interesting indeed. - VulpesVulpes42 (talk) 07:21, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

You wrote "Swiss Government", but it's surely not correct! It's the Logo of a private lobby organisation of the swiss pharmacy shops. It's the biggest organisation, but it's surely NOT governmental. Because i can not so good write in english and i dont know about licenses in commons i wrote something here. There are sources for my correction (in german, of course, its alos available in french from PharmaSuisse). --H7 (talk) 14:41, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Old Swedish descent sign

A while back ago, I uploaded File:Sweden road sign 5 (1966).svg
I have added a source and a link to the PDF. Would you be so kind to take a look at my file and say how it compares to the image in the PDF? I was pretty happy when I uploaded it, and I figured that the 1960s print felt a bit sloppy anyway, but I would feel more comfortable if someone like you took a close look. It seems ok to me. Fry1989 eh? 18:38, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

Norwegian road signs

I noticed that have edited many of the Norwegian road signs that I uploaded to Wikimedia. The colours I used for the signs are the official colours used by the Norwegian road authorities, but you have modified some of the colours to a darker version. Why? Pjacklam (talk) 18:44, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

The shade of red on the digital files did not reflect the actual red of the signs in practice. I had intended to update all related files but got caught up in other things. Fry1989 eh? 21:16, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

Former flags of Bermuda 1875-1910 & Turks and Caicos Islands

Hi Fry1989, is there any chance at all of you being able to do something about this former flags of Bermuda and Turks and Caicos Islands and covert them into standard SVG files at all as currently they are in png and gif formats. Thanks very much but do understand if it’s not possible. (2A02:C7F:5621:2A00:207D:D20B:BD32:4827 14:26, 3 November 2018 (UTC))

I'm sorry but I do not have the SVG skills to do so. Fry1989 eh? 17:47, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Please don’t overwrite a file, if those changes have been contested -per Commons:Overwriting existing policy This is regarding the Roundel of Mauritania, which you have provided no source involving that update (please give a source within the next 2 days or I will restore the original file) Thank you FOX 52 (talk) 03:05, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

The source was discussed elsewhere. There are two ways of dealing with this, one is to rename the file WITHOUT a redirect (which requires an administrator) and uploading a new file in that namespace, which is preferable but more difficult, the other is to overwrite and upload the old version as a new file, which is faster. If you want to discuss the benefits of each, that is fine, but simply reverting the file is not benefitial. Fry1989 eh? 17:10, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
The source "was discussed elsewhere" is not a source, I'm just simply asking where your source is. as to validate the change(s) made - FOX 52 (talk) 17:41, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
-The file was reverted back to the original - DO NOT revert back until you have provided a source - FOX 52 (talk) 04:02, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
Do you really think I just pulled this out of my imagination? As you can see here, they updated the fin flash. That was provided to me in a private conversation on Facebook with Zscout370, who you should also trust. They informed me that a military attache at the Mauritania Embassy in Tokyo informed them that the roundel was modified with a red ring. Fry1989 eh? 16:08, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
Unfortunately you know that doesn't cut it (hear say is nowhere near a reliable source) -so when you get something concrete (image or article) just source it before making the change(s) - Thanks FOX 52 (talk) 02:24, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
