For Christ's, Allah's and so on sake: adjust your frigging robot. If it says: "Source: self-made" it just days that. Go away!!!!!! Problems with permissions

Hi!

Concerning the photos of Baden, Austria, I loaded them to WikiMedia Commons with the license "From another Wikipedia project". Actually, all these photos can be found on de.wikipedia.org, article "Baden (Austria)" or just search for it.

If the pictures there have been uploaded without a proper check, then I do not know.

But I am sure that they do have already a license that fits to Wikipedia.

Troubles with my first contribution

Hi, I have troubles with my 1st contribution "Eimeric de Cunit ret vassallatge a Jaume March". As you can see, nobody has actually the copyright of the original picture, and I am the only owner of the scanned image (scanned by myself from an exemplar of the old book (pulished on 1911, 96 years ago!!! by an extinguished company)that I have). Wappen at Perchtoldsdorf

The picture Wappen at Perchtoldsdorf actually exist in the Article Perchtoldsdorf at Wikipedia German. So, it is a free license document and can be modified.

What I did was to remove some noise in the beg central part of the picture by editing it.

So, it is a Wikipedia document (Wiki license) & was improved by me. What am I supposed to add to such a picture?

Formatting of user messages

I noticed that Filbot doesn't add \n to beginning of new messages, so sometimes message header doesn't get formatted right. See example User talk:Hypnomusic --Tomia 12:57, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

True, that email could be enabled, but the template is suggested in the registration process as a way of ensuring that messages get left for you somewhere they are likely to be seen. I got interrupted last time so didn't have enough time to put down my full thoughts. Perhaps the bot could list users who use the template (for a trial period), and if there is not a ridiculous number, some thought could be given to manually notifiying users on the relevant project?

License of montage, GIMPed together out of public domain images of Wikimedia Commons

Shamanism is a very general (sometimes even debated) concept, comprising mediator-role figures of several different cultures, with great diversity. That is why this image is a tableau. It is created to be a lead image of Wikipedia's Shamanism article.

Thank You for notifying me about the inappropriate description page of my recently uploaded image. It is a montage, I myself made it with GIMP out of four images of Wikimedia Commons.

• Three of the four "member images" is licensed {{PD-old}}
• but one of them is more restrictive: {{LOC-image|id=cph.3b25870}}{{PD-US}}.

I am entirely ignorant about

• How shall I make the description page? What license shall I give to it?
• May I remove the Filbot's {{no license|month=January|day=16|year=2008}} template myself, or must I wait for someone to do it?

Till then, I have given to the montage the most restrictive license of its member images, that is {{LOC-image|id=cph.3b25870}}{{PD-US}}.

Image seens to be alright, but...

I am totally new at Commons and have been trying to upload the image "GYN-Skyline.jpg" to be used at Wikipedia. You won't be able to browse this image by searching for it, and that's the problem! But somehow the image is already listed at the category "Goiânia" (sorry, I also couldn't make hyperlinks work here!). What am I doing wrong? Would you be so kind as to help me on that?

According to my previous experince, I have to spend lots of time explaining even what "wikipedia" is to my teacher. I am sure the license on th zh.wikipedia is correct, that is {{{logo}}}. It should be the seventh points mentioned on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Upload.

Problems with copyright

I've edited my first article in wikipedia (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Milito), and I've registered myself in Wikimedia to upload some images, and add them to the article.

I don't know very well the way of uploading them (probably because of my bad English),but due to something about copyright, the images will be deleted in seven days. They are free images, taken from free webs (papers and forums), and I don't know exactly what I must do to keep them in Wikipedia. I 've written the source where I've taken them...but i don't know if it's ok!!

You will be very kind if you can explain me what's the problem and what I must do to solve it.

Hello, I have not understood well your message , in terms of what I shoul add or do. But I have had some help from Wiki friends. I am sending a e-mai from the artist and myself ( photographer) giving official permission. I am sending it in French to:permissions-fr wikimedia.org Will that be OK or should I send it also in English? Must I change anything of the description ?? I have changed the license since I realized that I have put the same images also on the artist website which I have done myself :http://artmayer.monsite.wanadoo.fr And there is of course a copyright on the site . License put back, but image no longer appears in category "gallery"

Hi,

Your bot correctly tagged my image after I inadvertantly removed the {{pd-self}} license (due to some hamfisted editing).

I fixed this as soon as I spotted the problem.

However, despite reinstating the license template, the image now doesn't appear in its category listing/gallery. I remember checking before it was tagged and it definitely showed up. Are images tagged as missing a license also implicitly marked so that potential copyvios don't appear?

If so, can you please restore the status of this image, as the lack of a license was a minor typo on my part which has now been fixed.

Tagging modified version of PD images?

The following are separately-uploaded modified versions of public domain images. Is the tagging okay?

• Image:Atari_1027_Printer.jpg
• Image:Atari_800XL_Plain_White.jpg

Here's my reasoning:- These are *not* the original versions. AFAIK, it is theoretically possible to make some (non-trivial) modifications to a public domain work and copyright it. Therefore, I thought it should be clear that

• This is not the original version
• I disclaim all theoretical rights (if any) to the modified version, and also place it in the public domain.
