pictures[edit]

Hi DenesFeri

thanks for uploading all those pictures. Do you have them in a higher resolution by chance? Most of your pictures are so small that they can hardly be used. --Amada44 (talk) 10:23, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Magyar: Feri, ezek a képek tényleg túl kicsik ahhoz, hogy valóban használhatóak legyenek. Mobiltelefonnal készültek? Legalább akkora képek kellenének, amekkorákat a Magyar Wikipédiába töltöttél föl. Ezeken per pillanat alig látszik valami, úgy pedig tényleg nehéz felhasználni őket. Megvannak még az eredeti nagyságú képek, vagy ezek az eredeti felbontású képek? --Beroesz (talk) 12:04, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fuchsia[edit]

Misread the first time, File:1F5.jpg is a Fuchsia in the section Quelusia or a hybrid. Where did you take the photo? The most common species in cultivation is Fuchsia magellanica, but hybrids of unknown ancestry are even more common. Uleli (talk) 18:44, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fuchsia campos-portoi is readily distinguished from other fuchsias by its small and very narrow, gland-serrulate leaves. It also has unusual, small flowers; the floral tube is nearly rhombic and very short, whereas the sepals are up to four times as long and are noticeably inflated in bud. Your plant looks more similar to F. magellanica or a hybrid, but I'm defently not sure about that. Compare with brincos.de.princesa's photostream Uleli (talk) 18:54, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Denes Feri,

I'm not sure even if it is of genus Morpho. They look a lot like Caligo caterpillars, but they could also be Morpho, I'm not sure.

Hi, I've never heard about it, but it doesn't mean it's bad... actually, looking at the IDs he gave on some species I have some knowledge, he looks very honest and acurate. Regards, Leonardo (talk) 17:00, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I don't know what species is that, but it wasn't me who categorized. I've just removed Unidentified Lepidoptera from the image, as it had a photo of two butterfles, and two species categories on it. If you have good reasons to believe it is not this species, please remove this category and add a category that fits. Either the real species, or the most specific Unidentified ... you are able to.

Thanks,

Leonardo (talk) 16:48, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm unable to give any secure ID to this butterfly. If you have doubt enough, move it to Unidentified Papilio, or Unidentified Papilionidae.

Itt a régi feltöltő lap. Beroesz (talk) 08:38, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Én kiraknám a személyes lapomra hivatkozásként, akkor a legkönnyebben elérhető.

--Beroesz (talk) 09:05, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tangopaso,

You have taken out/away the unidentified cactaceae category from this picture. Why? Regards. DenesFeri (talk) 09:07, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
1. Because if this plant is Agave colorata (I agree), it is not an unidentified plant (and I try to put some unidentified plants into the category of their genus or species)
2. Agave are not cactaceae, but Asparagaceae. They are succulent such as Cactaceae, they look like Cactus, but they are not Cactaceae.
Best regards. --Tangopaso (talk) 11:27, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know that the main plant is Agave colorata, but the unidentified cactaceae category was for the other plants next to it. If you look at the picture, you will see that there are some cactaceae sp. as well. For them was that category there. Regards. DenesFeri (talk) 09:52, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
In my opinion, Category:Unidentified Cactaceae is useful when the plants may be identified in the future, by amators or specialists. But here, the other plants are a little too far, and the definition of the photo is not enough to magnify it and see the plants well. And some of them are cut on the photo (we dont see the entire plant).
When you take photos, you should notice the identification signs. It makes identification obvious.
Question Are you sure about Agave colorata ? When I try to read the identification sign, I read Agave ....asana. Is it not Agave parrasana ? The two species are similar... The label on the left seems to be Rebutia pygmaea. --Tangopaso (talk) 20:19, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
The true is, that I'm not sure. I compared that plant with this one File:Agave3.jpg, and for me they look the same, but I'm not an expert. The plant on the second picture is Agave colorata. DenesFeri (talk) 08:29, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
It is not simple ! I have at home 50 cactus or succulents. And I have several books about that, but there are not enough species of agave. And I am not a specialist... I have the feeling that the identification of the two species are wrong. Even botanical gardens make some times mistakes ! I think that Agave colorata looks like this : File:Agave colorata 1.jpg : not many leaves, strong spines. And Agave parrasana like this : File:Agava parrasana kiev.jpg : more leaves, small spines (I have one of them, I did not know the species, now I know, I will upload a photo). In this condition, your agave is A. colorata (the label is wrong, or perhaps another plant behind ?). I propose to keep A. colorata, to add Category:Rebutia pygmaea (seems OK). And to fix File:Agave parrasana.jpg as A. colorata. But I will keep the mention A. parrasana as "probable error". --Tangopaso (talk) 21:00, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
I identified only one, Cleistocactus strausii. I added Category:Plants in Kew Gardens on some of them. Perhaps, a guy well knowing Kew will identify some of the images. For the 3 images such as File:Asparagales - Agave sp. 1.jpg, they are Echeveria, not Agave. I changed category for Unidentified Echeveria. But I dont know the species. I did not rename the photos, because I dont know what file name is suitable for you. Best regards. --Tangopaso (talk) 21:46, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

about my pictures[edit]

Hi Materialscientist,

I see that you are renameing my pictures, and thank you for that. Some of them, were in some articles. After the renameing, those pictures will show in the articles? Or some bot will delete them from there? Regards. DenesFeri (talk) 11:01, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The renaming script does this: move the file and its page, set a redirect to the new page (so that the new file can be found if needed), send a command to a bot to substitute the file in all wikiprojects. The substitution may be delayed by server problems (up to hours, maybe a day). Thus if you are worried that some file isn't showing for too long in an article, you can click on the file link and substitute the file manually. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 11:07, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you show me, please? DenesFeri (talk) 11:09, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Say, File:1 Plant sp. - Kew 44.jpg was moved to File:Proteales - Platanus orientalis - kew 1.jpg, and a command was sent to the bot talk here to replace the file in User_talk:DenesFeri/Archív03. This command will be sent to the bot by an administrator some time soon. Meanwhile, the image is invisible in User_talk:DenesFeri/Archív03 - this because of the <gallery> layout; in regular articles you would see a link instead of image, like VodopadVodopad.JPG here [4]. Materialscientist (talk) 11:24, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So this is done automatically? When the file is renamed? DenesFeri (talk) 11:27, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, within seconds, only the file substitution is delayed. Materialscientist (talk) 11:35, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Commons Delinker got its commands now. You find the logs there. Yes, most image usages are replaced automatically. -- RE rillke questions? 11:36, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In other words, Rillke was kind enough to send your/my renaming requests to the bot here [5] [6]. Here [7] you see my signature, but this edit was actually done by a script because I clicked a button in your renaming template. Materialscientist (talk) 11:43, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OK than, thank you! Cheers. DenesFeri (talk) 12:05, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

about renameing[edit]

Hi Jeff G.,

Sorry, but I do not understand what do you want. If you give me an example, perhaps I will understand. Regards DenesFeri (talk) 12:48, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, let us consider the case of File:Pecten albicans - London 2.jpg. In this edit, you wrote in part "{{rename|Pecten albicans - London 2.jpg|The mollusca has been identified}}". It would have been far better if you had inserted "1" as the second parameter to form "{{rename|Pecten albicans - London 2.jpg|1|The mollusca has been identified}}".   — Jeff G. ツ 13:13, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So you want me to put there "1"? For example if there are 5 pictures with Pecten albicans, to all I write "1", or "2", "3" etc.? DenesFeri (talk) 08:12, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"1" is for your own uploads. All the rename requests you made that I can remember were for your own uploads. Please see Template:Rename/doc and File renaming criterion #1 for details.   — Jeff G. ツ 10:55, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DenesFeri,

I didn't say they misidentified their plants. I was using Cat-a-lot to sort pictures of Hibiscus species into categories of their own and maybe I did miss your images as I couldn't look at all the names. That's my bad, and sorry for any inconvenience I've made.

However I think we should put images of plants to categories of their own when possible, we shouldn't put them into categories of their genus if the category of the species is available. Prenn ⁞ Talk 09:39, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
