Hi, which is the intended use of this photo? In which Wikimedia project is it useful? Thuresson 17:40, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Please vote to keep my photo on wikicommons. I was unfairly targeted based on the religious/moral beliefs of one user. If a photo is taken in a public place you do not need permission to publish it as art.

I noticed you also take many photos of people. Maybe they'll target you next? Please help me to keep artistic expression free on wikicommons. Thanks.

picture vote[edit]

Hello I do have 100 edits now on commons, I also added a diff to my vote. thank you.--Mohamed Magdy 07:14, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I do have 100 edits. The confusion (mine) was in signing my account. It came out as "Hu Gadarn" instead of "Hu_Gadarn". I tried to rectify but was unsuccessful. Thanks, Hu Gadarn 19:00, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

deletion log[edit]

because somebody forgot to move the deletion request to the archive? I do not know. Just put it there. --ALE! ¿…? 08:21, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please read first the discussion at Template talk:Deletion requests/Archive 2. With regards to archiving: This is about to be done automatically, see: User:BryanBot. However, we are still in the test phase I think. --ALE! ¿…? 12:52, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POTY 2006 voting[edit]

You have less than 100 edits in Commons, which means your vote cannot be considered. Maybe you have another account in a home wiki? Alvesgaspar 14:40, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

dug up a diff for a voter[edit]

User:Slartibartfass has limited English skills,[1] so rather than trying to explain in more detail how to produce a diff, I just asked directly for confirmation on the German wiki,[2] and received an affirmative.[3] That should be diff enough, right? Slartibartfass's vote is on Commons:Picture of the Year/2006/Voting phase 1/archive 4. Hope that's not too late to count. — coelacan19:14, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I don't think it is a good idea to allow late corrections to votes. The archives are already sealed (blocked) precisely to avoid alterations in this busy period. Verifications and counting are being made and the final results should appear soon. By the way, do you want to give a hand?... (see POTY 2006 talk page) - Alvesgaspar 20:08, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking the trouble once again to look at the Friedrich Kellner gallery. I appreciated your earlier note about how to move images into Commons -- although I ended up doing it the hard way. And I greatly appreciate your kind words about the way the gallery now looks. I made quite a mistake when I first established it, simply using text from the article in Wikipedia, and adding extra photos to that text. I was glad to have the chance to correct the mistake. Now I feel that the gallery is a helpful supplement to the article in Wikipedia (in all eight languages), rather than just a lame copy of it. So again, thank you for your help. Scott --Rskellner 21:46, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you like it, feel free to use it .--Vaya 14:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

my wiki contributions[edit]

Hi, you had noted that I only have 3 contributions. This is true for wiki-commons but not wikipedia (see here for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Hu_Gadarn). I'm not sure why my user account is different in the commons (?) than wikipedia. Thanks, Hu Gadarn 00:17, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion warning Image:Steve Stanton - City of Largo.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Shilpa Shetty[edit]

Is it possible for you to perform a human review on this image? For the record I was instrumental in getting this image properly licensed (although someone else uploaded it obviously) so I can confirm that the image has been licensed appropriately at my instigation. I would request a human review asap because the image is in use at w:Shilpa Shetty and had just been deleted because of potential copyvio, so I would like to hurry up the process if possible. And also for Image:Amitabh_Bachchan.jpg, used in w:Amitabh Bachchan. Again I was responsible for making this freely licensed and would appreciate a quick human review to fend off copyvio accusations. Many thanks, Ekantik 02:09, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for your kind note. I have one further question: As Image:Shilpa Shetty.jpg has been released under a CC license appropriate for Wikipedia, is it necessary for a Fair Use rationale to be provided? I ask this because this has been asked regarding a nomination of w:Shilpa Shetty to GA-status. Please reply on my talk-page. Thanks, Ekantik 04:33, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy[edit]

Thanks for the tips and note re: categorys/galleries. I know I've recently uploaded some stuff and have work to do on it. Damn my sloth! I will try to get to cleaning up my mess in the next day or two. I hope you're well :-) --DavidShankbone 05:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for seconding that barnstar, by the way - that was very nice! I really wanted more so to give that one User a bit of a scare without having to go through the whole RfC route. Out of perhaps 500 photos on Wikipedia, I have four with boobs and this guy really took a dislike. Really, only the first is any good; well, that and the flat-chested one. I probably wouldn't care too much, but they are unique photos, at a unique event, so I kind of wanted a home for them. I have a feeling some day at least two or three will be taken off, but just not that Chris person's way. I do get a kick out of that one quote, though. I spent the day back up at Billy Name's - he was being interviewed for another article and getting photographed for a book on the most influential people on pop culture, and he invited me up to hang out. I got a really good shot of him: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Billy_Name_%28Flag%29_1_by_David_Shankbone.jpg. I'm bone-tired; off to bed. Sweet dream! By the way, nice Amaeche shot. He has spoken three time here in NYC in the last few weeks, but every time I had another commitment. --DavidShankbone 06:22, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That Amaeche shot is really really funny. I'll hate myself for the obviousness of the joke, but it *must* be said: Gee, I didn't think he liked fish (ba dum bum). --DavidShankbone 13:56, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no! I can't believe you let that one out into the wild... coelacan20:31, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting images that have permission that were uploaded before that system was put in place is ridiculous. Where is Assume Good Faith - additionally, I included plenty of verifiable information in the description. Trödel 10:49, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Jeff_Corwin_2006_06_24.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.
