Hyundai Grace[edit]

What does "Hyundai Grace F/L 1" and "Hyundai Grace F/L 2" mean? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I assume you mean "facelift 1" and "facelift 2", but this would be incorrect as the Grace only underwent a single facelift (is there a "facelift 0"?). The names of the categories are very confusing. Please undo these edits or bring them up for discussion before you execute similar edits in the future. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 07:08, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pay attention to copyright
File:Hyundai porter.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Warning sign
This media was probably deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Hyundai sonata.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Hyundai sonata.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Renaming categories[edit]

Hi Chu, just letting you know of an easier way to rename categories in bulk here at Wikimedia Commons. I tend to use this method if I am updating multiple categories at once for efficiency reasons. For just one or two categories, it is probably just as easy to adjust manually with HotCat.

{{move cat|old name|new name|Disambiguation as per convention: [[Commons:WikiProject Automobiles#Categories]]. ~~~~}}

Global account[edit]

Hi Chu! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 19:47, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Careful[edit]

Recently, while changing some categories, you also deleted a number of uploader categories. Don't do that unless you have a good reason; it could be construed as vandalism. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 02:37, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Main subject[edit]

As per COM:CAT, please stick to the "main subject" and "noteworthy features of the image" when categorising photos. The cars found incidentally in pictures of streets or buildings are not noteworthy.

For example, this file of the South Korea Supreme Court illustrates its intended subject very well. However, I do not believe it to be very useful at illustrating Hyundai Sonata automobiles which the image is also categorised in because it contains a small glimpse of the said vehicle. By the same token, one could also add categories for the deciduous trees, the sky, power lines, the road, and foot path/side walk. These also make up a small/minority part of the image. However, none of these items contained within the image would be particularly useful for someone searching for a photo of a road or a tree.

Considering that most images of locations in built-up areas taken near a road will contain vehicles as incidental subject matters, the systematic categorisation of these vehicles cause massive over-categorisation problems.

If it bothers you to have these cars as "unidentified" so to speak (because there is not a category to specify exactly what they are), then Commons is better served by using annotations on the image itself or by placing a note in the description. Clogging up categories with junk seems quite counterproductive. OSX (talkcontributions) 05:32, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A response would be good... no, instead you keep doing the same thing without discussing. Lack of English is not an excuse, use a translator: translate.google.co.kr. OSX (talkcontributions) 13:05, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

Hi, thanks for helping add fix categories to various South Korean car images. Just thought I might let you know about two features that can make it much easier for you to place images into categories, saving you a lot of time. These are the gadgets called Cat-a-lot and HotCat.

To enable, go to Special:Preferences, then go to the tab "Gadgets". Scroll down to "Tools for categories" and select the first two boxes. Make sure you click "save" at the bottom of the page once done.

  • Cat-a-lot will show up as a yellow box at the bottom right hand corner of categories and it helps with moving multiple files to subcategories. For example, easily move in all first generation images to the first generation category in one go.
  • HotCat changes the way category links are displayed at the bottom of image pages so it becomes very easy to add, delete and change categories without having to click "edit" at the top of the page first.

Both features also have autocomplete, so if you type in "Hyundai Sona" it will suggest "Hyundai Sonata" for you.

Cheers! OSX (talkcontributions) 04:38, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
