- Well, you are right. User:Mykola Swarnyk seemed to me to be the author. I renamed it because of File renaming criterion #1. - He is the author, yes, and he’s not very experienced in Commons, so I guess he chose #6 by mistake. While #1 does not cover for author renaming requests 3 weeks after upload (as opposed to uploader’s request a few hours after upload), I think you would have been better to accept it under #1, its “spirit”, if not its wording, or refuse it. Why did you move the file above after it was declined? The file is a copyright violation, so renaming the file was a waste of time. Also, it violates the file naming policy; quote Files with copyright issues should NOT be renamed until copyright issues are resolved. There is no reason to rename a file if it is going to be deleted on copyright grounds. Please don't do anything like this again. 1989 17:24, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Verkehrszeichen[edit]
Bitte vorschnelle Verschübe meiner Verkehrszeichen überdenken! Erst mal schauen, wer das beantragt (zuletzt eine IP mit insgesamt nur 4 Beiträgen - und die war sich beim Verschub nicht mal sicher (Zitat: "as far as I can see"). Meine Angaben zu den VZ sind Hieb- und Stichfest. Der Verschub des VZ Zeichen 244 - Gemeinsamer Fuß- und Radweg - 2, StVO 1970.svg ([[1]]) war in diesem Sinne falsch. Allein die Logik besagt, das die Variante eines VZ nummerntechnisch nicht VOR dem eigentlichen VZ stehen kann. Die Nummern der VZ haben sich über die vielen Jahrzehnte oft geändert. Daher bin ich ja der Meinung, daß die Benamung der VZ auf Commons genau sein muß und den Hinweis auf die jeweilige StVO beinhalten muß. Auch wenn das wenige hier für unsinnig halten. - Thank you for your post. Beefcake is a compliment and not an offense. The name is also not vandalism, not an attack and not a provocation. Please notice that in general, Commons aims to provide stable file names as there might be external file clients and file moving involves significant human and computing resources. Thus renaming should be used with caution. For these reasons, the filename is (for me) ok for commons and should not be renamed.--Capricorn4049 (talk) 21:26, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- I never said it was offensive, just that it's ridiculous and doesn't keep to Commons NPOV policy. A complimenting description is still a POV, and also inappropriate in this sort of scenario. Could you imagine a photo of Angela Merkel in a bikini being kept on Commons with the file name "Boobalicious Babe Angela Merkel.jpg?" This is a similar situation. Panoramics[edit]
Hi Capricorn4049. It seems that your template (User:Capricorn4049/panoramas) is causing some problems because it's adding a lot of your photos to a category that is only for 360 degree panoramics, and most of your images that have this template are not even panoramics at all (some are just regular rectilinear images), especially not 360 panoramics, which need to completely wrap around 360 degrees. declining filenames[edit]
First, I'm not sure why you declined the move for File:Jacob Vollrath 600x420jpg.jpg - first, it had an extension in the filename (jpg.jpg) and there was no reason for the dimensions to be included in the filename, since there is no identical photo with different dimensions. Additionally, it was not 600x420 but 420x600 (graphic industry standards are width x height). So this easily fell under non-controversial maintenance.
Second, File:Aperschnalzen.jpg. Aperschnalzen is competitive activity done in Austria. The request to change it to File:Aperschnalzen - Loig bei Salzburg.jpg to add the location ("Loig near Salzburg") was a good one, under Criteria #2 (change from ambiguous) and #4 (harmonize files - activity + location), so I'm not sure why you declined it claiming it did not comply with renaming standards. - Only fixing the double extensions is a Non-controversial maintenance and bug fix, the rest for sure not (no invalid or incorrect extensions, no character handling problems, and no other similar technical issues). - Hallo @Moroder: Ich verstehe nicht ganz wieso du dich angegriffen fühlst, aber ich erkläre gerne was ich gemacht habe: Category:Piz Sella war ja mit wikidata:Q3036641 und damit mit ceb:Piz_Sella_(tumoy_sa_bukid_sa_Italya,_Lombardia), en:Piz_Sella, fr:Piz_Sella, nn:Piz_Sella und pnb:پز_سیلا verlinkt. All diese Seiten beschreiben den Piz Sella im Berninagebiet auf der Italienisch - Schweizerischen Grenze. Diese Verlinkung bestand bereits - die habe nicht ich gemacht. Darum habe ich lediglich die { {Wikidata Infobox} }, die du (wieso auch immer) entfernt hast wieder eingesetzt und ein paar Kategorien hinzugefügt. Dann habe ich Category:Piz Sella (Gröden) erstellt und mit dem (richtigen) Wikidata-Objekt wikidata:Q31644720 verlinkt, der bereits mit ceb:Piz Sella (tumoy sa bukid sa Italya, Regione Veneto) verlinkt war und den Berg in der Region Veneto beschreibt. Bei der Kategorie habe ich übrigens noch einige Informationen und Kategorien hinzugefügt, die vorher nicht dort waren. Auch das entsprechende Wikidata-Objekt habe ich noch aufdatiert. Von dem her verstehe ich nicht ganz wieso du das Gefühl hast, wieso "ihr" (wer auch immer das ist) weniger wert seid als die Schweizer (wobei der Piz Sella ja ebensoviel zu Italien gehört wie zur Schweiz). Dann habe ich noch alle Bilder, die den Berg in Gröden zeigen in dieser Kategorie verschoben und alle Bilder, die du einfach aus der Kategorie Category:Piz Sella rausgeschmissen hast (ohne sie einer anderen Kategorie zuzuordnen) wieder in die Kategorie hizugefügt.
- Also ich sehe da kein Angriff oder Unfreundlichkeit oder etwas ähnliches. Du kannst die Category:Piz Sella gerne in "Piz Stella (Bernina)" oder sonst irgend etwas anderes umbenennen, aber dann musst du unbedingt auch die Verlinkung der anderen Wikis nachziehen, sonst gibt's ein Durcheinander. --Capricorn4049 (talk) 16:09, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

Der erste war der Fehler des Pi Bot der die Kategorie dem falschen Berg zugeordnet hat, der zweite war Ihr Fehler (natürlich ungewollt) der die Bernina Bilder der falschen Kategorie zugeornet hat. Sie haben meine Korrekturen ohne mich zu informieren oder interpellieren rückgängig gemacht ( ich bin ja nicht der letzte Angekommene bei Commons) und eine andere Kategorie Piz Sella (Gröden) erstellt. Piz Sella Gröden ist weder Teil der Sella Gruppe, noch steht der Berg im Fassatal und auch nicht auf der Grenze und schon gar nicht im Veneto. Also wer bringt den hier die Sachen durcheinander? Important message for file movers[edit]
A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning.
