999 Eddy Street[edit]

Hello BriefEdits,

Thanks for catching the mistake in the file you mentioned on my talk page. I have no idea where the 601 Sutter Street address came from. Probably I was just uploading too many files after a long trip and got a bit sloppy. The address is 999 Eddy Street according to the NRHP Nomination form, and the best of my recollection supplemented by a review of the site on Google Streetview. Of course the NRHP listed church has not been there since 1995 when it burned down, but I believe the site is still listed on the NRHP (they do that pretty regularly) and the practice at WikiProject NRHP is to show the location of destroyed sites so that other photographers don't spent a lot of time looking for a site that is not there anymore.

The location of the empty lot/garden is 999 Eddy, at the corner of Eddy and Gough. You can see Jefferson Square in the background of the photo. From Google StreetView I guess the photo was taken from/through the chain link fence across the street from 963 Gough. If you have more questions please just let me know.

Autopatroller[edit]

You are enough experienced now and your edits do not need to be patrolled anymore, so I just made you autopatroller. Thank you for your good work! Taivo (talk) 06:29, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File mover[edit]

Dear BriefEdits,

Thanks for requesting file renames. Would like to inform you that you can do it on your own when you have Filemover rights on Commons. You can go through the policies drafted at COM:FM and request it at COM:RFR. An administrator will grant you the rights thereafter. Hope to see you there! Thanks and warm regards. Happy editing. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 10:13, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category:San Francisco files needing cleanup[edit]

I've noticed you adding categories to files in Category:San Francisco files needing cleanup, which I greatly appreciate. However, please don't remove files from the category if they lack a useful description or filename. For example, File:One Way (212622543).jpeg has a meaningless filename and no useful description. Thanks, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:40, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to remind you of this again. Files like File:San Francisco (37575009324).jpg, with meaningless filename and no description, should not be removed from the category. Files need cleanup until the proper categories, description, and filename have been added. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 05:04, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi BriefEdits,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

Youtube[edit]

Hello BriefEdits I hope you're doing well. First of all congrats for becoming a patroller. I came across some of youtube uploads and reviewed them. It's so nice of you that you're helping reviewer with time frame. I suggest if you could properly use the Template:From YouTube while you're uploading files from Youtube. Thanks, stay safe.--C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 14:08, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @C1K98V: . Hey, thanks for the tip. I only recently began to use the template because I saw it in use so I wasn't entirely familiar with the syntax, but I'll keep that in mind. Also, thanks for the heads up on the Shine Kuk screenshot. I can't believe I made such an obvious mistake but it's good that we're all here to double-check each other's works. — BriefEdits (talk) 21:48, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Have a look at my upload here, File:ちゃんよた.jpg. These works well with the From YouTube template. With this you don't have to add the timeframe with filename or so. Thanks, Have a great day --C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 01:49, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion[edit]

  • File:170905 Suzu Hirose at the 74th Venice International Film Festival.jpg
  • File:180327 Suzu Hirose for Sea Breeze.jpg
  • File:190604 Suzu Hirose for Vogue Girl.jpg

Hello, may I ask the reason why these three files were speedy deleted? I believe they do not violate copyright and follow CC BY 3.0 since they are screenshots from YouTube clips. I am new to Commons so sorry if I misunderstand something here. Sincere, --ポカ (talk) 01:56, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @ポカ: . Pardon if I don't remember the details correctly, but judging from my comment, it appeared that I reviewed the video source provided and did not find a CC license available under the "show more" option of the YouTube video. If I was incorrect, please feel to re-upload them. However, for example, I think this source provided for "Suzu Hirose for Sea Breeze" did not have the CC license in the detail section of the video when I reviewed the video. And since the video was not archived via a site like archive.org, it's difficult for Wikimedia Commons to verify that it was released under the CC license at that time. So for future reference, tag your video with Template:YouTubeReview so that it will be added to a list to be reviewed and make a copy of the website at archive.org just in case when it comes to verification because sometimes the original uploader can revoke that license. I hope that was useful. Pardon the long wall of text haha. — BriefEdits (talk) 02:34, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • For example, click the "Show More" function in the description box of this video and you will see "License: Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" at the bottom. YouTube video screenshots can not be reuploaded to Wikimedia Commons unless it has a license release by the copyright holder (or if the underlying property is in public domain). Hope this helps. — BriefEdits (talk) 02:40, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

I realized my mistake on the Shaman King upload after it was too late to delete. Feel free to delete if you like. I won't be using it, obviously. Thank you for catching it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Misterdc (talk • contribs)

Sorry Briefed for the yo Kai watch.jpg. I had seen this image on Commons before and reposted it because I couldn't embed it. This was my first Wikipedia edit. I will pay more attention. PeriphGamer (talk) 09:12, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving[edit]

I was wondering how do you achieve the images? Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 16:33, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Btspurplegalaxy: What do you mean by archiving? — BriefEdits (talk) 18:27, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is an example of one you uploaded [1] On the source part you'll see "View/save archived versions on archive.org and archive.today" how do you do that? Btspurplegalaxy (talk) 18:31, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Btspurplegalaxy: I think it's just a part of Template:From YouTube. — BriefEdits (talk) 18:39, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This media may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:20210922—Han Ye-ri 한예리, interview, Marie Claire Korea screenshot (02m55s).jpg, is missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted.

If you created the content yourself, enter {{Own}} as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} or {{Cc-zero}} to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

File:Dracu-riot! front.jpg[edit]

Just FYI, before you tag rest of th e Draco-riot! images for deletion. The Flickr account where they were uploaded to Commons is w:Danny Choo's who implemented Yuzusoft's (publisher of the game) web pages at the time and his Mirai Suanega Avatar was part of the game and it's advertisement. Also, the watermark in the images (culturejapan.jp) is Danny Choo's TV-program so i guess the permissions for the images are cleared. --Zache (talk) 06:04, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, i removed the speedy deletion just so that it would not be deleted by accident. If you want we could nominate the image for the deletion and do the proper deletion discussion if you think that it needs to be still deleted. --Zache (talk) 06:07, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How I use Maplestory Game Icon to wikimedia commons ?[edit]

{{subst:copyvionote|1=File:MapleStory Game Icon 2018.png|reason=Copyright Maplestory/Nexon}} hello! BriefEdits Excuse me, How do I this Maplestory icon PNG image apply authorization from NEXON Korea Corporation then let they agree me to upload to Wikipedia Commons? I'm very worried about the expensive licensing fee for the image application. --Junyu-K (talk) 04:38, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File:Phewnu.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
