Orgullibot[edit]

Hi Bastique. I address you since you are the only one that I know who was online at this time. Is Orgullobot gone from Commons? Does this mean we have to tag all untagged images ourselves again? / Fred Chess 01:12, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK. If there is no bot, then we have to do it by hand from now on. Have yourself a merry christmas now.... / Fred Chess 01:29, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, you removed this image from the POTD...citing not being a featured image. It is, however, a Quality Image, and those qualify for POTD. Thanks for paying attention, however. Cary "Bastiqe" Bass demandez 00:21, 24 December 2006 (UTC

Of course you are right, sorry. Merry Christmas !! Alvesgaspar 10:25, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PotD 20070207[edit]

You deleted translations for the picture of february 7. I think it had been better if you restored the image (Template:Potd/2007-02-07), which was a featured picture and eligble to be PotD. /82.212.68.183 11:49, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted captions for an image that wasn't there. Since that time, User:EPO restored the image, as apparently it was deleted in error. Cary "Bastiqe" Bass demandez 14:42, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

Hello,

I wonder if you can change my username from Ärkan to Erkan? I don't like the Ä, better with an E. /Ärkan 14:05, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bastique, thanks for closing my RfA. I did not deserve promotion because of some serious issues. I would continue my contributions and after spending some more time, I would like to re-nominating myself. Regards, Shyam (T/C) 17:57, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal: Picture of the Year and Picture of the Month contests[edit]

I have posted a new proposal on Commons talk:Featured picture candidates regarding the creation of FP-related contests and would like your feedback on the idea. It's refering to the Swedish copyright law, the same that is refered to at {{PD-Sweden-photo}}. Regards Fred Chess 19:37, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, it refers to the text on http://www3.innovatum.se/kunskapenshus.asp which says

which means

POTD[edit]

Rules say from 2007 onwards only FP. Do not threaten me and do not try to start a war. Thanks Lycaon 21:00, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Insulting will lead nowhere. I urge you once more to revert your chages. Thanks Lycaon 21:05, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then at least pick another image and leave the good images alone. Play with your huge ego and have it your way. I am making images for wikipedia, not for your pretty eyes. Lycaon 21:11, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing wrong with me, thanks for asking. I've had this discussion before with some internationalisation adept and I don't want to be part of that anymore. My graphics are painstakingly rendered in svg, as to allow easy translation and not to have them changed into cumbersome numbered derivates. Thank you, And now you can use your admin powers to protect some more pages of well meaning contributors. Lycaon 21:20, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • English: NO, NO, NO. Why have you remove my legends?

We don't have to give up behond difficulties. I wanted to launch a new practice. I don't car about the practices of Commons in other languages...

Commons is an international project but not a translation draft. Why would we be responsible for a standardization? I'd just want to lanch o FRENCH pratice.

Articles et catégories[edit]

Bonjour,

Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 20:17, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:OfficialPhoto.jpg[edit]

Hi, I noticed you removed the deletion template from Image:OfficialPhoto.jpg. Do you have an OTRS account? If so, can you please verify as to whom the permission was received from and provide a copy of the permission? Alan.ca 15:58, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Weird happenings[edit]

Hi, thanks for the name change. I think I made a mess while trying to list a number of images for deletion - they don't seem to show up on the Jan 12 deletion requests page as they should. I'd appreciate it if you could figure out what went wrong. --Peta 02:25, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POTY election implementation[edit]

Some help in needed to organize the POTY election. Please check the conclusions of the discussion in Commons talk:Featured picture candidates. What do you think of doing the election in the period 15-31 January? - Alvesgaspar 14:40, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But in the format we have imagined there are no "Nominations". We just pick a FP picture from the chronological list (if the pic isn't already in the election page) and vote for it. Please check the suggestions in the election talk page - Alvesgaspar 14:44, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

image deletion request[edit]

Image:Shenyang from International Space Station.jpg is redundant and bad quality compared with image:Shenyang 123.38236E 41.77365N.jpg, which is better high re orbital satellite image of metro Shenyang. This is one of wikimedia coomons deletion guidelines. Is there anything wrong with my request? I'm a new user and didn't provide the right reason when I first made the request. Is this ok for me to make another request? Cariner 18:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

one is certainly better the other. But first is not bad quality. Second one is good: Yes. Second better thanthe first: Yes. First one is good: YEs too!. But much more important, the images aren't redundant. Perhaps some projects have use for the first image and the second one not. Perhaps if both were from the space station..., but the first could theoretically be used on some space station content, while the second discussiong satellital view software.
remember: Commons does NOT only serve wikipedia so please consider twice before calling an image redundant. -- Drini 18:46, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bastique, I just saw, that you changed the speedy deletion tag on this image to superseded. Does this still mean the file shall be deleted? I think it should be deleted, because the image is incorrect, it is quite new and therefore not used in any article yet. It is the same with Image:Methylene diphosphonate.png and Image:Hydroxymethylene diphosphonate.png. --NEUROtiker 21:31, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, it works now. Also, I have another issue. Somebody moved an image of mine (that I got from Flickr) from en.wiki over here. However, the Flickr review tag says it needs review and has been reviewed by you. I wanted to make sure it was correct so if it hasn't been reviewed, it will be picked up by the bot. That flickr user likes to switch around his license info and I'd like to for it to be reviewed ASAP while its still CC-BY-2.0. Thanks.--Nmajdan 15:42, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help with pt users[edit]

Hi Bastique! I have already promised myself to do so. I'm an admin on pt.wikipedia and this takes almost all my available time and I use Commons usually just to upload files. Initially my help can consist in talking with Portuguese speaking users when normal warnings are not enough. Please make me know when it happens and I'll try to solve the situation.

Within the next weeks I want to increase my administrative contributions here and, as I said, feel free to "drop me" any problem you find (my biggest obstacle is to find these violations because I can't check the uploads regularly). Happy 2007! Dantadd 15:25, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Has written a number of short stories (not exactly sure how many), some of them won awards (according to tr wiki article)
  • Has written 3 novels recently (according to tr wiki article)
  • He has written 18 plays, 7 of them published by Turkish Culture Department I believe. (according to tr wiki article)

Dear bastique,

You created a "it:template:Delete" on it.source, duplicating the purpose of the original it:Template:Cancella subito. I suppose its utility for foreigner admins, or wise visitors facing vandalisms or spam with no need to know Italian language, so I moulded your template to carbon-copy the official template for speedy deletions. Have I understood your intention? it:Utente:OrbiliusMagister

Image deletion warning Image:Blue_Screen_of_Death.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Bastique unblock me[edit]

Hi Bastique, I do not understand what you meant when you gave the reason for blocking me as using the website for religious means. Though I would not not deny writting anything concerning religion, all I did was to add more Bible's facts, Bible names in Igbo and made some spelling corrections on the topics like "Chinkeke" then re-saved it. If you didn't put up the topics like Bible,Chineke, etc there will be no topic to write about. I would like to help build the Igbo wikipedia. I'm sorry if I upset you by not signing in the first place before making any corrections. May be there ought to be something to prevent things like that in the near future. Hello, could you please specify what exactly do you think is incorrect about Image:Flag of the ICRC.svg? --Uwe 17:07, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, then the ICRC has hoisted an incorrect version of the logo on top of its HQ building in Geneva, see here. And they are using the incorrect logo on cars, airplanes and buildings. Weird, but whatever. --Uwe 18:04, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And, after coming home, I've just checked my book collection as I've several books which were published by the ICRC, and which I either bought at the bookshop of the Red Cross museum in Geneva (part of the ICRC HQ complex) or which I ordered directly from the Distribution Sector of the ICRC. Some have the round logo with the acronym beneath it, some have the round logo with the acronym on the right side of the round logo, and one has the round logo with the acronym beneath it printed on the spine of the book and the round logo without any acronym printed on the front cover. Again weird, but whatever. --Uwe 19:15, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Bastique,

I just subscribed you to this list (which you would have noticed - but I put you on nomail, so you'll only get the welcome message). I'm going to be out of town Thursday (22nd) to Friday and I need someone to make the posts for me. I did ask Zzyzx11 but he hasn't responded, and since the list is moderated I needed an email to add to be unmoderated, so they could make posts. So that's you. Sorry for the surprise; I hope it's not a big hassle.

Nauruan Wikipedia[edit]

Welcome to the Nauruan Wikipedia, Bastique. I wanted to say the following as well: We have five administrators on the Nauruan Wikipedia — I give in I'm the only one who checks the RC daily, but I suppose this suffices abundantly considering the size of the edition — so we don't need any deletions by stewards (who don't warn the vandals either). Friendly greetings, 84.192.166.208 12:23, 23 February 2007 (UTC) (na:User:Belgian man)[reply]

No problem; maybe I must have had checked whether it was such a case. It's the first time an external (Jon is administrator there) steward deletes something on na:, hence the reaction :) Greetings, 84.192.166.208 10:58, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been contemplating nominating myself as an admin. I have been on the commons for more than a year, and have more than 2800 edits. Before I officially nominate myself I wanted to get some feedback. Thanks! --Evrik 19:35, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kurdistan[edit]

Hello.

I am not to fond of this edit. It is discussed here. Bertilvidet 20:37, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Could you tag this one also. Thanks Oxam Hartog 01:18, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS volunteering[edit]

Oh, OK, thanks for letting me know. I didn't realise that, as I saw that in her recent Request for Adminship Commons:Administrators/Requests and votes/Kelly Martin Kelly was supported precisely because she was already doing this. I suppose she must be an admin somewhere else. --MichaelMaggs 22:24, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tomf688 Rename[edit]

Thanks for the quick rename. --Tom (talk - email) 00:03, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images on hr wiki[edit]

Hi! I red the message you wrote on my user talk page on hr wiki about the images you were concerned about. I am going to inform some other admins and we are going to take care of them. Thank you for the information!--Donatus 05:56, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bad user name[edit]

Hi - I see you deleted contributions from that user (no problem with that). So that I learn would you take it that with such a user name the normal "good faith" can be reversed and their contributions be seen as unwelcome? I regret I was a little slow reacting to that one - I am still getting the hang of the multi lingual aspects of Commons I think. Regards --Herby talk thyme 10:00, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I'm learning! --Herby talk thyme 12:09, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SVG files with flowing text[edit]

I just uploaded two SVG files containing floating text, which appears as black slabs when rendered. I looked at the helpdesk page, where another user had the same problem and you fixed it for them. I'd like to know what it was you did to fix the problem, where the problem is described (can't seem to find it anywhere), and what is the correct way to include text in an SVG image. Thanks! If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. Hi! Could you delete my user page and my discussion page please, not only blanking them? I don't want the information in the history to be available. Thank You! JohnM.

Peterd username[edit]

Hi, I have my own user page with Commons, as well as with en-Wiki and pl-Wiki. Problem is that everywhere but Commons my user name is Belissarius. I would like to change it to be Belissarius in all media. I tried to do so changing datas in my preferences, but it does not work. Could you help me to do such change? I am not asking for instruction but for MATERAL help 'cause I am not very good in administrative operations. Thank you up front. Belissarius, till now Peterd 01:50, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, You were the first one that popped up on an ActiveUsers search for fr speakers. You think you can help me determine if that copyrightfreeuse tag is legit? Thanks, Yonatanh 19:25, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
