Do not uncategorize my files, or at least give me a reason.[edit]

Hello Chatsam, in these days i've seen that you removed some of the categories on my files about italian municipalities CoA, and added "Coats of arms of Italy to be classified" which has no meaning, because they were classified as SVG coats of arms of municipalities of Liguria/Italy. I ask you to tell me why you do this, Thanks. Ashoppio (talk) 17:48, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

hello "coats of arms" or "heraldry" are a mother category. they are not intended to be used by file - only for other category. imagine you put all file to Roma, Venezia or Genoa.... in "Category:Italy". it the same. bye --Chatsam (coucou) 21:28, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ashoppio!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Drupe e bacche d'oro[edit]

Buon lavoro! 𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐨. (talk) 15:25, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New features[edit]

Hi Ashoppio, thank you for uploading many good images! I came on your contributions during a major work on coats of arms.

In commons, many things have changed, and you seem not to be so familiar with all the new features.

  1. the Template:Inkscape is deprecated since many years - have you noticed that it is in red?
  2. All coa should now be described with the Template:COAInformation; the conversion can be performed with a script.
  3. All coa should have their tinctures specified (only colors of the shield, not of surroundings).
  4. All SVG should be checked for validity, and cleaned-up; this is also done by scripts,
and much help exists by these scripts and the templates; e.g. for Heraldicon.
  5. Coa-drawers, as you, can be specified with all the attributes they want in a large table, that reduces the conversion effort.

I have converted some of your images, as Ailano-Stemma2.svg and Santa Maria la Carità-Stemma.svg. When you want to take part in that work, I can support you - I would like it. Good future success ! -- sarang사랑 16:50, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thank you really much for liking my work!
I am aware of the many new templates of commons, but when I upload my COA I use only the inkscape coa blazon and insignia, because I am used to it.
About the Template:COAInformation, i know that template but I don't use it for the same reason as earlier, I would like to have a script to do it automatically if you can find one I will surely use that.
About the SVG validity, I make my COA's in Heraldicon, not plain Inkscape, again, if you can find a script that cleans many SVG's in bulk, I will be really grateful!
For the fifth point I don't know honestly, For me it would be cool to have a template similar to the Katepanomegas one (File:Greater coat of arms of the grand-duchy of Luxembourg.svg example here) with a small icon of mine, but i am pretty fine with the normal attribution. I don't mind if you change some attribution options.
If you can help me with fixing some of my files i would be absolutely grateful for that.
Bye! 𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐨. (talk) 17:03, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, we can continue. First of all, your User:Ashoppio/common.js needs to be expanded to

importScript('MediaWiki:Gadget-InformationToCOA.js');

// User:Perhelion/simpleSVGcheck.js
if (mw.config.get('wgNamespaceNumber') === 6 && /SVG/i.test(mw.config.get('wgTitle').slice(-3)))
	mw.loader.load('//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Sarang/simpleSVGcheck.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');

importScript('User:Perhelion/justReplace.js');

which should enable you 1) to convert to COAInformation and 2) to validate&cleanup SVG files; the justReplace is kept.
Please, never again insert the Inkscape ! The validation script should be used instead, it replaces all occurrences automatically.
As you can see in your files I mentioned above, Heraldicon is integrated into your user entry, I am working to display it better.
At your first tries with the scripts, I can help you; be aware that they have still some bugs, nevertheless they are very helpful and simplify work.
About an attribution icon of yourself, we can generate together a nice one. -- sarang사랑 06:24, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! I have installed the script, it is pretty useful and cool, thank you really much.
I have a request, can you please give me some tips and tricks for this script? Like the Template for COA colours and the Heraldicon template (ex: This Coat of Arms was made with Heraldicon).
For the attribution icon take your time, i don't have any big request for that, only a cool and fun thing to do.
Thanks a bunch again for this script, Bye! 𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐨. (talk) 14:31, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I understand you are successful with the validate&cleanup scripts, how about converting Information to COAInformation?
The validation script cannot determine what tool generated the SVG; was it Heraldicon? With or without Inkscape?
The attribution template can either be used at the permission field, or at int-license, as well for Information as COAInformation.
Instead of the much too talkative Coa blazonwhich dominates the page too much I would suggest the new Coablazon which conceals the large block
until somebody opens it (I foresee that nobody is interested...) and your description pages are kept in a good appearance (see Assoro-Stemma.svg).
For the attribution template I would use StemmaAshoppio.png as an icon, when you convert it to SVG (with small file size!). -- sarang사랑

Another question: there are many user keys with 'A'; I used for you 'AO'; the key should not be too far away from the user id. When you like more another 2-letter-key, it is still possible to change it. -- sarang사랑 16:34, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What is the use of these user keys may i ask? 𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐨. (talk) 19:11, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you may: For ordering and categorizing CoAs, I am using a table where each coa drawer has a two-letter key; all standard parameters can be stored there to avoid that they had to specify explicitely in each single file again and again. Moreover, a change for all coa-files of a user is done only once at this central place, and not in each one of hundreds of files. Nevertheless all parameters can be modified for single files, when necessary. For example, you draw your coas with Heraldicon, but if you draw one file with e.g. Illustrator or DrawShield, your key with a modification can still be used with all the other parameters. I did not use the id itself because it has a length between 3 and up to 30 bytes, the short key in each file will be enough, e.g. |image=Ao
It sounds complicated (and it is!) but it simplifies drastically the editing of thousands of files. Ok? You may see it:

For you I selected the user key "Ao" (the first and the last letter of your id), but I saw that you have the letter "F" in your user logo. "AF" is still free, and I can make free "As". When you don't mind at all, we can keep "Ao". -- sarang사랑 09:45, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am ok with "AO", so when i upload a COA i put |image=Ao?, Also, i see that on the "tool" section there are two "I", What does it mean may i ask? 𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐨. (talk) 14:44, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is special for you! I never met Heraldicon before and had to enable the description to deal with it. Since you tag your files also as "Created with Inkscape", they are made with a combination of these two tools? Currently the tagging is "Created with Inkscape, and also with Heraldicon"; if that is not enough or incorrect, it can be changed - the II remains, but its function become otherwise. I do not know enough about it, whether it is an SVG tool for itself or kind of preprocessing. The output can vary, independent of the 'tool' II.

For a new CoA, the steps are: first you upload with Information; then you convert to COAInformation, when the script shows you the description source in edit mode, you may complete the tinctures and perhaps more. In this edit mode finally you invoke/trigger the validation script, which automatically creates the params for image: key AO, W3C-errors if any, and more. In Category talk:Graphic Lab is some instruction how to use the buttons. They should appear in your screen as told. -- sarang사랑 16:12, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Coat of Arms of the Aerican Empire.svg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Provincia di Ragusa-Stemma.svg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Saluti :) Ashoppio (talk) 11:34, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Baseluna014 (talk) 12:11, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments 2023 è iniziato: partecipa anche tu![edit]

Buongiorno Ashoppio,

Qui puoi consultare Il regolamento completo e per qualsiasi dubbio puoi scrivere a contatti@wikilovesmonuments.it.

Ti aspetto! Grazie, --Ferdi2005(talk) 10:37, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:BCA-1.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 16:35, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Freight Company House Flags[edit]

Hello, I am looking for an experienced graphic designer who can create new flags. I would like you to make 10 flags used by old shipping companies. These are the most complicated flags that can be made in this category, I'm asking you, because you can create coats of arms.

- w:Österreichischer Lloyd, flag used until 1919. The flag was navy blue and featured a yellow logo. The logo consists of an anchor with an intricate monogram, ribbons with the inscription and Imperial Crown of Austria. The crown was drawn with gemstones without their colors, marked only with outlines, but with red filling. The flag appeared in two versions differed in two ribbons sticking out from the crown, sometimes this element was missing. I am asking for both versions. [1] [2] [3] [4] - This card shows the logo with the greatest amount of detail.

- w:Lloyd Triestino, flag used from 1919 to 1932. The second link shows the details better. The Trieste symbol on the right has two balls on a pole instead of one. [5] [6] [7]

- La Veloce - Saint George and dragon from this file looks good, but you need to convert it to a black and white version and add a white shield with a red cross. [8] [9] [10]

- it:Lloyd Italiano (1919-1932) [11] [12] [13] [14]

- Transatlantica Italiana [15] [16]

- Royal Hungarian Maritime Company "Adria" [17] (1882-1918)

- w:Navigazione Generale Italiana, There is a drinking lion on the flag, symbol of the Florio family, while the St George's Cross is the symbol of the Rubattino family, both the flag and the drawing of drinking lion come from the 19th century and are based on a relief from the 18th century.[18]. The lion didn't have a standardized version. [19] [20][21] [22].

- pt:Companhia Geral de Comércio de Pernambuco e Paraíba, flag used around 1756. The person on the flag is Saint Anthony of Padua, traditionally depicted as a monk holding a boy. Unfortunately, there is no decent image available in svg format. The image shown is currently inaccurate. [23]

- w:Grão Pará and Maranhão Company, flag used around 1756.

- w:Hudson Bay Company, Hudson Bay Company ensign and Hudson Bay Company Governor's flag [24] require a vectorized company coat of arms , but unfortunately the only version available looks like this .

If you do this, thank you very much. Swiãtopôłk (talk) 16:02, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Swiãtopôłk i'll see what i can do Ashoppio (talk) 16:52, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am truly sorry, but it has been quite a though period with school and some things. Ashoppio (talk) 16:30, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ashoppio (talk) 15:48, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
