Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This media was probably deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:John W. Pugh, Trompe L'oeil Muralist.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:John W. Pugh, Trompe L'oeil Muralist.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Re:CC License mark is live on artofjohnpugh.com[edit]

Hello John, it seems there was still a copyright note on your site when the administrator Jim deleted your images.
But anyway there's a problem with the type of license you have added to your website now. As you can read in Commons:Licensing the only Creative Commons licenses accepted here are the Attribution/Share-Alike ones. A CC BY-SA 4.0 for example, which is the latest version. You added a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 NonCommercial, NoDerivatives one, which is not compatible with this project policies. In the case it is your wish to license your website that way, then you must follow the OTRS process to release the images you uploaded here under a free license (the Attribution/Share-Alike type) for them to be restored. Or in the case you decide to change the license of your website to that free license, then just do it and contact the administator User:Jameslwoodward who deleted the images for him to verify that everything is in order and restore them. I hope to have clarified the issue, sorry for the inconveniencies and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any more questions. Anna (Cookie) (talk) 16:06, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Cookie. That's entirely correct -- you can either (a) change the license on your web site to CC-0, CC-BY, or CC-BY-SA and drop a note on my talk page or (b) send one of those licenses using OTRS. Sinve OTRS has a substantial backlog, it will be several weeks or more after receipt of the license before the image(s) are restored.
Note, by the way, that an image with an NC license can have very few users -- perhaps that is your intention, but you should be aware that just about the only places on the Web that can use an NC license are personal Web sites that do not have advertising. Company sites, charitable sites that solicit contributions, educational sites (except those owned by institutions that do not charge tuition or fees or solicit contributions), and personal sites that have advertising are all not allowed to use an NC license. On the print side, much the same is true -- books, magazines, fliers, posters are all commercial unless they are given away free without advertising. .     Jim . . . Hello John,
well, since Jim is a member of the OTRS team and he already knows about your case yes, you should contact him to let him know that you started the process. But I don't mean you have to wait until he's back, just send the mail and drop a note on his talk page. Have a happy summer :-) Anna (Cookie) (talk) 04:15, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
