File:Statue-of-Date-Masamune-in-Aobayama-Park-Sendai-2016.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This file has been restored. It seems that the file was used in each language version of Wikipedia, but it has been removed from the article because it was deleted once. I don't know where the article is, so if you don't mind, please post the image again. Y.haruo (talk) 22:45, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Y.haruo san, I will check it and see if it can be restored in the articles. -Artanisen (talk)
@Y.haruo: I've restored the image on a few articles. It was previously removed by CommonsDelinker. If you want to you can restore it on the Japanese article, because you are a native speaker and can best answer questions about it. -Artanisen (talk) 04:22, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your prompt response to my request. It seems that the Japanese wikipedia article used another photo of the same statue instead of this photo, but it seems that there is no problem because it was not deleted. Y.haruo (talk) 23:53, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, did you (mostly) write the description or did you (mostly) copy it from [1]? If it's the latter, we might need to delete it because the text doesn't seem to be licensed under CC BY-SA. (It's possible to delete the text description without deleting the image.) whym (talk) 09:43, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the description is from that website. It can be shortened. It's important to keep the part that the painter (Ishikawa Shizumasa) personally knew Saigo and that the painting is therefore one of the most accurate depictions of Takamori. -Artanisen (talk) 10:25, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you can replace it with a minimal summary and link the website for a full description. Note also that the translations added later have the same problem. I would keep the summary factual and neutral, like "Osaka City Museum claims this/the painter to be X and Y". The "therefore one of the most accurate" part sounds like an opinion rather than a fact. Anyway, we can edit it as much as we want later, after the deletion is requested and done. (By deletion, I mean deletion done by sysop, not just removal.) whym (talk) 03:05, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I've adjusted the descriptions to a minimum which is fair use. -Artanisen (talk) 06:42, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Artanisen, I've hidden the revisions with the extended text from the source link. --AFBorchert (talk) 22:01, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@AFBorchert Thank you for your help. If you don't mind, I think there are more revisions to be hidden - specifically it started in the link I gave earlier. (It was Artanisen's first edit to that page.) whym (talk) 03:44, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Whym: Thank you for pointing this out. I've now hidden the whole range. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 06:20, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I uploaded the whole atlas. Yann (talk) 15:11, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good work, thank you Yann. -Artanisen (talk) 15:20, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Eien20. This same artwork as a .webp file is also uploaded on Commons. It has been there since 19 December 2020 with the licensing CC BY-SA 4.0 DEED. So I uploaded a higher quality version of the same artwork. There's lots of artworks by Toyohara Chikanobu (1838-1912). 1912 + 70 years = 1982. So the copyright should be expired. -Artanisen (talk) 10:17, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My images uploaded here[edit]

Per this [2], I do not give you or anyone else on wikimedia commons the right to scrape the internet to look for higher resolution versions of my copyrighted artwork and upload here in lieu of versions that I have uploaded here for free use. I uploaded a specific file and size for free usage. The files are not the same. Do not do this again, or I will get admin involvement. Heironymous Rowe (talk) 22:20, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Heironymous Rowe, I wasn't sure whether the higher resolution version was allowed or not, my apologies. You should assume good faith in this case. -Artanisen (talk) 23:01, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category[edit]

When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:Parthenon (Nashville). ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion). Jmabel ! talk 04:39, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jmabel, yes I found out later that there was already a category for the Parthenon in Nashville. Thanks for explaining and deleting the duplicate category. -Artanisen (talk) 04:44, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Category discussion warning

Staatse vloot has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!
