Hi Armbrust, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

A really, really, really belated  Thank you.. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 07:08, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

You renamed this into File:Earls Colne Church.jpg. Are you sure that this is correct? The file is sorted into Category:Churches in China but Earls Colne is in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the church in Category:St Andrew's church, Earls Colne looks like a different church, and Category:Earls Colne does not contain any other church categories. --Stefan4 (talk) 13:23, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

@Stefan4: Not anymore. I have moved it to File:Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Shamian Island.jpg per a similar image on en:Xiguan. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 16:01, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for identifying the correct church! --Stefan4 (talk) 16:06, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Thank you very much…

…for the very quick renaming of a photo I uploaded. :)

KiwiNeko14 (talk) 19:51, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

 Thank you.... User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 12:44, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

As you've requested, I've split the file history of File:Cathedral sevilla interior 34.JPG. The original content remains at File:Cathedral sevilla interior 34.JPG, while the newer content is now at File:El retablo de la capilla de la Virgen de la Antigua visto desde la entrada lateral (Catedral de Sevilla).jpg. If you can, please update the summary and categories of the two files to match the depicted content. —RP88 (talk) 11:23, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Already done by someone other. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 12:43, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Selección Nacional de Gimnasia Rítmica de España 1975 01.PNG

Would you mind to revert yourself and rename this file? As you can see in the file history, it's the uploader's request that the file name should be lower case and he tried to get the file renamed three times now. It would be better to rename as the uploader wants than letting him upload the file new with the new name, I think. What do you think about it? Kind regards --Bjarlin (talk) 23:57, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

If I'll see him requesting the same rename once more I would rename the file myself with reason #1 per uploader's request, I hope, you don't mind. There were other files that he wanted to be renamed that also were renamed as he wished. Maybe it would be best to send him a message and tell him to request such renames of own uploads with reason #1 and not #3, so that he gets to know about that. :-)

@Bjarlin: ✓ Done on his next request. (I'll leave the sending of this message to someone other though.) User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 12:43, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
That's ok, thanks. And have some nice days for Christmas. :-) Schöne Feiertage --Bjarlin (talk) 14:40, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Johannes Stumpf - Renaming Decline

Hi dear Armbrust,

this work bears the name of a collector (Anton C...) in its title who whishes to stay anonymous and does not own this work. He wishes to be deleted from the image name. Criterion No. 5 2

Is it possible to delete his name from this images too? 1 Best --Solemio2 (talk) 17:45, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

@Solemio2: I think that's only possible, if the uploader requests it. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 12:40, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
Well I am the uploader Solemio. I have forgotten my password, so I had to create a new account Solemio2. It is written here 1 --Solemio2 (talk) 21:13, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Škoda-Solaris Trollino képek

Szia!

(Ezt én most hozzáadtam ezekhez a képekhez.) User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 12:39, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
Köszönöm! Kemenymate (talk) 12:55, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

I have requested again the rename, the car number is placed under the 'Inter' (Interproteccion) logo, in the file:Hülkenberg Hungary 2015.jpg you can see that Hülkenberg is number 27 instead. Gpmat (talk) 13:22, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Oh, that... I totally missed that. Sorry! User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 15:42, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Stolperstein Am Tiergarten 32 3 Stk

User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 09:19, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Danke für die Erklärung ... hatte ich übersehen ... Lade zur Zeit sehr viele Bilder hoch--Vielen Dank und Grüße Woelle ffm (talk) 09:31, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Dear colleague,
I requested not a cosmetic fix, but replacing of the illiterate spelling with literate one. Stas (talk) 10:40, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

No, replacing the "JPG" extension with "jpg" only is certainly a cosmetic fix. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 11:44, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
I do not care about extensions. "Джиг-приманки" is literate, and "Джиг приманки" is illiterate. Stas (talk) 11:53, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello, why was the renaming not accepted? I wanted to test if the Wikipedia mobile app has problems with JPG-ending, because this and some other images are not shown in some german articles.--Sinuhe20 (talk) 09:11, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Renaming isn't for testing. Also the footnote of COM:FRC#6 says: "This is for specific technical problems, generally which have a Phabricator task and have been the subject of community discussion.", and none of them was supplied in your requests. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 18:13, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Besten Dank und freundliche Grüße --I. Berger (talk) 14:52, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 18:10, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

I shot the sheriff

Patlıcan islim kebap

I put that title because I am ashamed to say I screwed this file up. I have asked it to be renamed twice, wrongly, because I do not know where my mind was when I did those stupidities. Please check the category where it stands, look at the fellow eggplant dishes, and rename it to "Patlıcan islim kebap". I am the original loader and am very sorry. I promise I will not do this (disturb you) again. And also I will not vandalise HU:WP. :-) Cheers. --E4024 (talk) 13:47, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

✓ Done. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 18:05, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Redirects resulting from a file name change.

Hi Armbrust. Thank you for changing the name for File:Shogi daus44.png. I would like to upload another different file using that same name, but it is currently in use as a redirect. Is there a way for me to do this? For reference, I would also like to do the same for File:Shogi uas44.png. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:45, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

Just overwrite the page with the description of the new file, and than upload the file with the link on the page. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 12:07, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for the info. I give it a try. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:42, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry I did not support your decision to decline: I missed it :( It wasn't intentional. I beg your pardon, Wieralee (talk) 13:27, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

@Wieralee: No problem. The rename request had a completely different target (File:Indian states according to cm party .png) when I declined it. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 13:38, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

File renaming

Hi, with regard to moving File:Weapons Co. 3-7 Combat Life Saver (CLS)Training 131127-M-TP573-217.jpg, please always keep the image reference in the new filenames. This is especially critical for batch upload projects as both people and their tools are likely to be searching filename by these numbers. Thanks -- (talk) 06:41, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

Will do. Thanks for the heads-up. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 07:07, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

File renaming in Poland

85.176.1.41 06:12, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

(Vom COM:MOVE: If possible, language [...] should be preserved.) User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 07:02, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

Why did you decline the rename? "Moulton" is a place name so it is a proper noun which requires capitalization. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:57, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Commons:File renaming#Which files should not be renamed?#2: "Files should NOT be renamed only because the filename [...] is not correctly capitalized." (Just as I wrote in the edit summary.) User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 17:04, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
I read that before, although it does say that, it doesn't explain it, not having the capitalization is like not having a capital letter for Wikipedia or a person's name. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:15, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi Armbrust, I requested renaming File:Seal of National Security Bureau R.O.C..jpg and File:Seal of National Communications Commission ROC.svg based on criterion #4. Besides, I also gave the additional explanations. You declined both requests and only said them "do not comply with renaming guidelines", but without any concrete reason. You may look at Category:Coats of arms of Taiwan, and you will see most seals, logos, and emblems of the central government of ROC (Taiwan) are consistently named in the scheme, "ROC_Department_Name_Seal/Logo/Emblem", with a significant number and percentage of files. What I am doing is to try to make the minority of files named in other formats to be revised in the same naming way. Moreover, following the footnote of file renaming criterion #4, it said that "files that form parts of a whole should follow the same naming convention so that they appear together, in order, in categories and lists." That is, since these departments are parts of ROC central government, I think my requests conform with criterion #4 To harmonize the file names of a set of images. If you still disagree, could you the specific reasons why they don't comply with renaming guidelines? Thanks a lot.--Akira123 (talk) 15:49, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

From COM:MOVE: "Just because images share a category does not mean that they are part of a set. There are two scenarios that this criterion is designed for. First, certain complex templates (such as those that use BSicons or that display football kits) assume that the images used in them will follow a specific naming convention. Wikisource also uses a specific naming convention for the source files they transcribe. Second, files that form parts of a whole (such as scans from the same book or large images that are divided into smaller portions due to Commons’ upload size restriction) should follow the same naming convention so that they appear together, in order, in categories and lists." Neither of them applies to your request, so criterion #4 doesn't apply. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 15:54, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

Dear Armbrust,

please move the file to File:Airbus A320 family.jpg.

Thanks a lot.--Anatole Longfellow (talk) 14:46, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Sorry, but that would go against Commons:File renaming. Specifically #1 & #2 of "Which files should not be renamed?". User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 15:45, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
