RFA questions[edit]

Can you take a look at Commons:Administrators/Requests/January, in the comment section? This user already left a neutral vote based mostly on file-related technical questions for another RFA; I just don't see what these questions have to do with the role of a Commons admin? Thanks for your time. INeverCry 21:18, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I'll reply there. --99of9 (talk) 00:15, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Poor January! Let's just hope this Incnis fellow doesn't get any more expansive. Pretty soon he'll have to prepare a questionnaire he can link to. ;) Anyways, thanks for answering. INeverCry 01:07, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Why poor? Whenever you apply for a job, it's expected that you will have to answer questions. The question has simple answers: w:Lossy compression and Jpegcrop. And January does do a lot of cropping, so it's specific to her line of work, precisely the opposite of the general questionnaires they hand out on en-wiki RFAs. --99of9 (talk) 01:26, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It was an obviously unsuccessful attempt at a joke on my part. I was probably overreacting a bit on this whole deal with the question though. INeverCry 01:55, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Restore adminship[edit]

Hello, 99of9. Please restore my adminship. I think I'm ready to take up admin work now--Morning Sunshine (talk) 09:33, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Great! As a first step I've unprotected your userpage so you can get it back in shape. Once that's done, can you post your request on COM:BN, so it's recorded in the usual place and transparent to all Bureaucrats (and it would probably help to link to where you requested removal)? Thanks. --99of9 (talk) 10:38, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Changing username[edit]

Hello and Sat Sri Akaal! I'm changing my username globally as per the the meta request. So please oblige, renaming my account to "itar buttar" or please check the request to verify and act accordingly. Thanks a lot. --tari buttar [talk] 12:51, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've added your request to the usual list Commons:Changing_username/Current_requests#Tari_Buttar_.E2.86.92_itar_buttar. --99of9 (talk) 12:58, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot dear, I've been renamed here. Please help: I had SUL for the previous username, TariButtar, but now when I checked the same for the new, Itar buttar, the tools says, there is no SUL and no global user with this name, accordingly. How to create the SUL like before? --itar buttar [talk] 03:53, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PD -> CC[edit]

Hi 99of9, it was my mistake to use PD license, so I've correct the mistake. --F l a n k e r (talk) 15:07, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately that's a mistake you cannot ever correct. The files were released into the public domain years ago. Reusers are already entitled to use them however they wish. You will never be able to enforce a CC-license, because the the content is in the public domain. --99of9 (talk) 22:56, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request: no-FoP Italy[edit]

Hi Toby. When you have a moment, could you do me a favor. I decided to occupy my time to list the no-FoP files in Italy. It has been a long and difficult work that needs to be reviewed by administrators. Could you check if everything is correct on User:Raoli/Deletion requests/FoP Italy? Thanks! Inquery[edit]

Edits such as this are a great concern to me. Why exactly are you shadowing me on meta and on commons? I am not going to bother with linguistic reasons until this issue is clarified. -- とある白い猫 ちぃ? 22:35, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

I saw that because I watch Rd232's page. He is undoubtedly a mover and shaker on Commons, so I'm often interested by discussions he's involved in - as are 68 others. If there's anyone I'm stalking here it's him. So far, you have not been added to my watchlist. I can't remember when I read the meta RFC. I think it might have been in June when I was applying for rights over there. I took a look around at their RfCs. I have no particular opinion on Kurdish, except that the Kurdish community should be fully and proactively consulted. It would probably have helped Rd232 if you had flagged yourself that this issue has had previous discussion in other forums. Out of interest, do you have a stake/conflict of interests in the Kurdish language/ethnicity issue? --99of9 (talk) 00:38, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For starters the RfC covers the rename of an entire wiki, not how language codes are used in templates. Are you aware that the proposed change replaces the word "Kurdish" with "Kurdish" but in Arabic script? Currently we are forcing Latin script on people who cannot read Latin script. Consider File:Pięść (ubt).jpeg for an example of the problem.
As for specifics on the linguistics, currently ku.wikipedia is predominantly written with the Kurmanji dialect (for all practical purposes) and this dialect is the only dialect written with a Latin alphabet. Other two dialects of Kurdish are entirely written in Arabic script. ckb Wikipedia is written entirely in the Sorani dialect since it is the Sorani Kurdish Wikipedia. sdh Kurdish Wikipedia has a very small existence in incubator. http://lmp.ucla.edu/Profile.aspx?LangID=61&menu=004 has more on the linguistics.
The only problem I have with ku.wikipedia community is their complete disregard of copyrights. I have been among the many people asking them to clean up the copyright graveyard on ku.wikipedia. Honestly, I do not see why ku.wikipedia or any other local Wikipedia is to be consulted in regards to a matter that entirely concerns commons.

Thank You for the Wikipedia Picture[edit]

Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware picture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:RiverRedGum_CentralAustralia.JPG). I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:

I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: website removed

2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: website removed

3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Talkback[edit]

Please see Commons:Bots/Requests/Smallbot 7. You're welcome to suggest a naming scheme.Smallman12q (talk) 02:46, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you kept this by changing the title, but it's a fake picture. The user who edited it removed the watch chain, handkerchief, and lapel piece from the original, which means that is not an accurate representation of the subject. If it's a question of crop, just crop the original photo. MSJapan (talk) 01:24, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the details you wrote about the photographic manipulation to the file description page. We do have many retouched photographs on Commons. They're not necessarily deleted, because they may be useable, just not to represent the original historical scene. If you want to renominate, be clear that you think it is now out of COM:SCOPE due to the file modifications. Any problem with the description is not a good reason for deletion, because the description can easily be changed. --99of9 (talk) 03:47, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate Your Suggestions[edit]

Thank you for the suggestions re "freeware" and posting a short message that points image owners to my User Page. I already created that, as well as a Talk page. Current problem for me is that my website link is watchlisted, so I cannot include the full link on my User Page. I request that my link be removed from the watchlist so that I can comply with your suggestion. Henceforth I will only include the user's image link and a reference to my User Page.

How can this situation be resolved favorably for me and be acceptable to Wikipedia? Since you viewed my explanation on the Commons: Administrators Noticeboard, what more is needed for the resolution?

A format that I suggest to an image owner is as follows:

Title: "Thank You for the Wikipedia Picture"

I linked your image (full Wikimedia image link) to my free, non-commercial website. Please view my User Page (Duane_Hurst) for details or communicate with me at (talk).

My user page will contain a brief description and purpose of my free site.

Thank you for the help and I hope to receive a favorable resolution. It is my intention to provide a free service to benefit a wide community. Regards,

Circle Packing pictures[edit]

Hello!

Thanks for all those nice wikipedia pictures of the optimal solutions to the "circle in square" packing problem on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circle_packing_in_a_square!

Just a small doubt, concerning the picture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Circles_packed_in_square_10.svg for the case N = 10: In the paper [C. de Groot, R. Peikert, D. Würtz, The Optimal Packing of Ten Equal Circles in a Square, IPS Research Report No, 90-12, ETH Zurich, 1990., available at http://www.scivis.ethz.ch/publications/pdf/1990/degroot1990.pdf], the authors write (page 2) that "no circle is free i.e. no circle can be moved around. All are fixed either by a neighbor or by the boundary of the square." However, in your picture, the circle at the right bottom is clearly free, touching no other circles nor any edge.

Surely, their solution is not unique, but still an optimal one, as they show, and the number of free circles should be the same among all optimal solutions. Hence, for me there is a contradiction there.

Where did you take the circle center data from?

Thanks a lot for clarifying this!

Wurzel33

Thanks for the note, I'll try to get to this sometime early in the new year. My figure may well be wrong. At the time I didn't have any circle-center data, but I had edge lengths, and I thought I matched all the edge lengths, but perhaps I had an old suboptimal length. --99of9 (talk) 22:14, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the answer. So, you solved the packing problem on-the-fly, and then looked up, every time, if the square had the known minimal possible size, up to numerical limits? That's impressive. I thought you had used "official" coordinates such as the ones given on www.packomania.com ... Anyway, Happy Christmas!
Thanks. It was a while back, but I think I constructed the square of the proposed size, then tried to fit all the circles within it. Merry Christmas to you too.--99of9 (talk) 21:41, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've fixed this now. The difference between the packings is so miniscule I couldn't really tell the difference with my graphics editor, but I'll trust the proof! --99of9 (talk) 02:34, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 99of9, why did you undo this edit of mine? As far as I know, birds do have beaks. Lotje ʘ‿ʘ (talk) 12:58, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, birds have beaks, and the picture is still in Category:Beaks. But the category you removed Category:Animal mouths (open) is specifically for OPEN mouths. By removing that category, you prevent people looking for open mouths from finding birds. We do not (yet) have a subcategory Category:Beaks (open). When we do, the picture will not need to be in either Beaks or Animal mouths (open), because it will be a subcategory of both. Feel free to create that and then remove both current categories.--99of9 (talk) 13:40, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Photo Rights - St Johns Ashfield Stained Glass Good Shepherd Portrait[edit]

Hi I'm making an ad for a church in a elementary school yearbook and this picture goes with it perfectly. There are going to be about 250 copies of the book. At first I thought it would be okay if I put your name at the bottom of the ad on all the copies but now I'm not sure, could you please help?

File:StJohnsAshfield_StainedGlass_GoodShepherd_Portrait_cropped.jpg

Thanks for contacting me. Ideally I'd prefer an attribution line something like: "glass: Alfred Handel, photo: Toby Hudson (Wikimedia Commons, CC-BY-SA-3.0)". Best regards. --99of9 (talk) 23:43, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Toby, thank you so much for making this picture available - Alfred Handel has made a wonderful interpretation of Christ in this stained glass. I would like to use it on my website about the composer Martin Shaw, to illustrate an article about The Redeemer, his cantata for Lent. I will put in the attribution as above. Picture of the Year voting round 1 open[edit]

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Please answer my Question[edit]

Hi there my friend! I have a Question and need an answer as soon as possible. I'm translating all NFL teams wiki articles to Arabic wiki, can I use their logos to put on the Arabic wiki or not? b/c it says that the team's logos are all under COPY RIGHTS? ... for example, can I use this logo File:San Diego Chargers logo.svg in the team's Arabic wiki article or not (without creating any problems for myself)? And can I use the NFL logo on the Arabic wiki article? --- I'll be waiting for your answers, Thank you very much! --Qrhoo (talk) 04:45, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know the policy of the Arabic wiki about Non-free media (e.g. if it allows "fair use"), but I do know that such images should not be hosted on Commons. --99of9 (talk) 04:57, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Train vs Railway[edit]

Hi I think the redirection of Railway Stations to Train Stations (In Australia) is a problem - to what level do you want have a conversation about this - many locations in Australia still call them Railway, and the usage of Train is not universal... do we agree to disagree - or which direction would you like to take on this? your call. sats (talk) 03:39, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

which means I am putting the whole of http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Train_stations_in_Australia to question as well, and anything related... It smacks of the south african on wp en who tries to re-invent rail material in the context of his world view as opposed to actual usage - at least on wp en there is acknowledgement of differences in terminology between north america/uk/europe for a whole range of rail things sats (talk) 03:45, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I can't even remember where this came up. I guess the right place is to start a new Commons:Categories for discussion thread. The outcome can apply to the lot. I'd appreciate if you let me know where the discussion is if you do start it. --99of9 (talk) 11:18, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problems - I have since looked more closely on wp en and the whole thing is a nightmare of cross purposes and confused usages - I think for a whole lot of reasons I am going to hold back on it for a while - when I decide to go down that rather rocky road Ill let you know - clearly - in advance... cheers sats (talk) 12:08, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The correct term is "railway station", not "train station". -mattbuck (Talk) 12:10, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My images deletion[edit]

Hi, regarding the images that "I" uploaded and then deleted in the last days, I want you to know that I just used the flickr uploader to do a mass upload of those images: about 1600. I didn't checked them all. So if you want to delete some of them, I support you. --Viscontino (talk) 12:20, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks for the note, I was confused because usually uploaders vote to keep their images. Now that I've briefly looked at Category:Files from Simpio96 stream, I'm even more concerned. Did you notice the caption "non utilizzare senza il mio consenso grazie"? It seems that the photographer does not understand the CC-license. We may have to delete them all? --99of9 (talk) 12:35, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We had a very long talk with Simpio96 (take a look here). She wanted to contribute, but she didn't have the time to edit each single picture (and I uploaded all of them right after she changed the license). The only ones that she wanted to be removed were her daughter's photos. I think we can keep the other ones. --Viscontino (talk) 14:55, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DelReqHandler issue[edit]

Hi 99of9. Any idea on how to get some attention on this issue? I don't want the DRs to pile up, but this problem has been going on for about 6 weeks now. Thanks for your time. INeverCry 19:04, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

request that files removed by another user be restored[edit]

Hi 99of9, I am new to Wikimedia Commons (well, intermittently active) and I posted two images to include in two Wikipedia articles. Some time ago, another user requested that they be deleted. For good reason: I wasn't clear about permissions. I now have emails from both copyright holders granting free use of the photographs and I requested that the permissions be reviewed. Is there some way for me to follow up? To know if my requests were submitted and are being reviewed? Artandimage (talk) 21:45, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for some reason I overlooked this. The correct method is written up at COM:OTRS. --99of9 (talk) 09:55, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Site statistics box[edit]

Hi 99of9

I hope you won't mind if I copy your really useful 'site statistics' box for my own userpage? --MichaelMaggs (talk) 11:02, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. As you'll see from the template name, it's not actually mine. --99of9 (talk) 13:07, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry for writing in English. I'm writing to ask you, as a bureaucrat of this wiki, to translate and review the notification that will be sent to all users, also on this wiki, who will be forced to change their user name on May 27 and will probably need your help with renames. You may also want to help with the pages m:Rename practices and m:Global rename policy. Thank you, Nemo 12:58, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What is this? -FASTILY 20:12, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's due to a field in the census which is tracked in their tables, but is theoretically impossible. (e.g. lone parent aged 0-14, when they only ask over 15's about parental status). They naturally come to 0% in every district, so the map is pretty useless. After I noticed this issue, I made the category to catch (and delete) them, but future revisions of the creation and upload scripts will block them before they get uploaded. (I haven't implemented this yet, but probably soon). Looking at it now, it looks like I caught one set of fields that shouldn't have been caught, so I'll get the script to take them out now. --99of9 (talk) 20:29, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(So any maps in there that look blank - which they all *should*, can be deleted immediately) --99of9 (talk) 20:38, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done I've deleted that batch, and hardcoded the list of exceptions, so the cat has fulfilled its purpose - now deleted. --99of9 (talk) 19:13, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Wills image[edit]

Hello, there's an image on Commons with an incorrect filename - the image is a photograph, not a painting. I contacted the uploader and he suggested I ask an admin about having it corrected. Appropriately Licensed[edit]

You participated at the earlier discussion on licence choice for Featured Pictures. A number of users felt that such restrictions should be made at policy level. Please comment at Commons:Requests for comment/AppropriatelyLicensed. This is a proposal to amend this licence policy to disallow future uploads where the sole licence is inappropriate for the media (e.g., GFDL for images). In earlier discussions there were a number of comments that, while reasonable opinions, did not align with Wikimedia's mission for free content. Please read the FAQ before commenting. RfCU[edit]

Hi 99of9, I just discovered that Marcus Cyron added a (personal) comment to de:Wikipedia:Kurier#Gecheckte User. 1.293 people have this page on their watchlist. Because I think it's just fair if the candidate or the proposing user has the ability to respond, I intend to post this text to the RfCU and would also agree translating a response back to German. Do you think it's wise doing so or will it likely evoke more drama? -- Rillke(q?) 22:22, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rillke, that text seems reasonable to me. Even if you don't add it, I'm glad that you brought it to my attention, as I may help closing the RfCU. I think COM:CANVAS should be seriously discussed, because different users have very different expectations about what kind of wider notifications should be allowed. --99of9 (talk) 22:31, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ideas?[edit]

It seems that we have shopping malls in australia, that is a new one on me as I always have known them as shopping centres - any ideas on australian english usage for items found in australia as opposed to the terminology that we are inflicted with regularly on commons? sats (talk) 02:24, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some are called malls. Terminology is globalizing even in the real world. However, you're right that common usage is still centres, so I'd support fixing this. --99of9 (talk) 08:39, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
haha - we dont even have the engvar issue here in commons (see my wp en edits...) - center is the used item here, so we have not only malls in australia, we have centers in australia... so the question is where we go to on the fix, sigh... sats (talk) 09:22, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 99of9,

Reagarding your closing of Commons:Village_pump/Proposals#Enabling_Help:Gadget-HotCat_for_all_logged_users_.3F : as you may see in the discussion, it was tentatively closed at my request last week ; however concerns were voiced that not enough opinions were expressed to support it. I took on myself to reopen it and to advertise it today on the Watchlist message. Though I have no qualms with it − as the proponent :-þ − I believe closing now is a tiny bit confusing. What do you think?

Cheers, Jean-Fred (talk) 21:34, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. You reopened it over a week ago, so I figured it had been up long enough for anyone who wanted to have their say, and the consensus is very clear. Admittedly I didn't realize you'd put the watchlist notice up until you commented about it after I closed. But I don't think a watchlist notice is crucial for such a minor interface feature - we have about four others going, and I fear message-overload-ambivalence will set in if we don't save them for important stuff like policy change. --99of9 (talk) 21:58, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

janekszy[edit]

Hi, You very kindly did a name change for me a couple of days ago.

Now I have hit another snag: Please help Urgent!

I created an account on Commons but was unaware that this name would be the byline for my pix. So I requested that the username be changed from janekszy to my full name Janek Szymanowski. This was done - great thanks!

When I went in yesterday (Friday) and uploaded about 100 new pix I did not login with the new username (computer auto inserted old details) so the pix are not reflected on my name Janek Szymanowski but they are there in the old janekszy contributions.

I have tried every which way to move/delete re-upload rename pix to another name etc but no luck.

If you can delete the pix on janekszy then I don't mind uploading again to Janek Szymanowski so that Wiki does not say it is duplicate content.

Or if there is some way to just move them immediately, that would be better still. Thanks and Regards, Janek

Ok, they're deleted, feel free to reupload under your new name. I've also blocked your old account so that this doesn't happen again. --99of9 (talk) 14:44, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted pics still block new uploads[edit]

Hi, Thanks for deleting the pix on janekszy and blocking the login :)

Problem is now on Janek Szymanowski the message next to each upload says:

"There was another file already on the site with the same content, but it was deleted."

I did retry but no luck.

Am I doing something wrong? What must I do? Help!

Regards, Janek

Is there an option to choose "Ignore warnings" or something like that? If so, select that. --99of9 (talk) 21:36, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This option is only availble at Special:Upload or one of the old upload forms provided at COM:UPLOAD. -- Rillke(q?) 07:53, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki has me screwed![edit]

Hi mate, You have been a great help but I'm afraid it has got me nowhere.

Yes when I go to the "old form" I can "ignore any warnings". I did a test and it loads but does not show up in my competition entries in Wiki Loves Monuments South Africa. The Main problem is that it is a batch of 100 pix that are blocked and I will be here way past the deadline trying to upload one by one. And they won't show in my entries anyway.

Now it seems that Wiki has me screwed! How can it be that the system can screw up legitimate uploads like this? There must be a way around this. I have cleared all my caches etc, is there some way for you to clear the Wiki cache for this? I am available to Skype on Jan Snowski if you don't mind.

HELP AGAIN PLEASE! Regards, Janek

I suggest 99of9 restores your files and then I can insert a {{Credit line}} of your choice, if you and 99of9 would be ok with that. Just tell me how you would like to be attributed; your account can probably renamed later (by a bureaucrat like 99of9 is) so also the logs and contribution-lists are corrected. BTW, I am in IRC as rillke #wikimedia-commons webchat and I can also restore your files, if you like me to do that. -- Rillke(q?) 09:28, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think he wants it under the actual contributions list of his new account name. The trouble started because after I renamed his account to his full name, he then accidentally uploaded this set at his old username. But we can't merge accounts... Anyway, I'm happy for the files to be restored in this manner if Jan is happy with this attribution method. The only trouble is I'm going to be offline for a few days. --99of9 (talk) 11:35, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Janek, another method you could use to get around the wiki software is to make a slight change to each image, so that it does not give the same hash value, and does not notice that it's the same file that we deleted. Maybe even a slight modification of the metadata would achieve this. Then you will be able to reupload them all under your new account name. --99of9 (talk) 11:35, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Problem solved :D[edit]

Hi Toby, I can't find how to reply on the same thread as before.

I just wanted to say thanks to you and Rillke for sorting out the problem I had.

As Rillke suggested, I did a minor crop of the image and saved, this seems to have changed the metadata enough to let me upload without a hitch.

Thanks again - BTW - Sorry about the Springboks rugby score :P

Regards, Janek

Ok, I'm glad it's all solved. --99of9 (talk) 21:49, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Happy Diwali!"[edit]

While Diwali is popularly known as the "festival of lights", the most significant spiritual meaning behind it is "the awareness of the inner light". It is the belief that there is something beyond the physical body and mind which is pure, infinite, and eternal, called the Atman. The celebration of Diwali as the "victory of good over evil” refers to the light of higher knowledge dispelling all ignorance, the ignorance that masks one's true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality. With this awakening come compassion and the awareness of the oneness of all things (higher knowledge). This brings Satcitananda (joy or peace). Just as we celebrate the birth of our physical being, Diwali is the celebration of this Inner Light. While the story behind Diwali and the manner of celebration varies from region to, the essence is the same – to rejoice in the Inner Light! And this year Diwali and All Souls' Day come together to fully defeat the Evil! "Happy Diwali!"JKadavoor Jee 06:16, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

After long furious works into other projects, mainly into wikisources, I came here yesterday to move my bot User:Alex brolloBot for a banal text replace work. Question about the Creative Commons[edit]

Hi Toby! I am a board game designer from Sweden. Together with 3 brothers, we have a small company and are trying to get our games out to the world. Right now I am searching for graphics to cover some of our playing cards, and I found one of your photos of algea, which fits perfectly. Now, the photo is created under Creative Commons license, which states that I should give proper credit to the author, and as far as I understand it, only by referring to the author by name. This would mean that I should be able to take any of the Creative Commons pictures, use them on a playing card and just make sure to write the authors' names on each picture, and that should be everything (as long as they are not marked as non-commercial). Is that correct? Or do I need to add a "link" to a website in the rules or directly on the card? Some Creative Commons variations allow for modifications to pictures, like your own NSW seabed pictures, but with the addition of Share Alike. But what does that practically mean for us as a company? Does that mean that every card containing a creative commons picture must be freely downloadable from our website? Should we still - even if altered - attribute the original author's name? Please help us out, we just want to do what is right, while using your's - and others' - amazing pictures for our boardgames. So: Is it ok for us to use your NSW seabed 1.jpg and only write your name on the card? And: Is this always ok with creative commons licensed graphics with the same restrictions as your own? Thanks a lot!

Hi board game designer from Sweden. I'm glad you like my picture, and would be very happy to see it used in a game. You do not need to make your derivative work (the card artwork which incorporates the photo) available on your website, but do need to say somewhere appropriate that it's licensed CC-BY-SA-3.0, and yes, still attribute the original photographer (and whoever added additional artistic input). I don't think it has to be on the art (card front) itself - perhaps on the reverse side of the card, or in your rules manual. Then of course if someone copies or modifies your cards and uses them for commercial purposes, they are allowed to do so under your license. For me, the attribution should certainly include "Toby Hudson", but would preferably also include "(Wikimedia Commons)". Yes, I think this kind of system would be correct for all creative commons licensed graphics. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer and the full legal code ultimately applies. All the best with your game. --99of9 (talk) 23:10, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear "godfaher" :) I think it is time to close it, I am getting event votes after the due date. I haven't closed it myself because I am not sure whether that would be the right thing. Thanks for all this! Poco2 19:59, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

SUL request[edit]

Hi 99of9,

I requested my username (SUL) to be renamed two weeks ago. This requires local bureaucrats to rename all the local accounts I have. On Commons, my request has not been filled yet. After a ping on IRC about the latter, Fae_shadow suggested me to ping you here.

Could you have a look? Thanks a lot for your help. (Ps.: If you have right on other wikis where this old account was registered, feel free to rename it there as well.) William.gathoye (talk) 21:37, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done, but next time please follow the instructions more closely. Your request didn't have the required diff evidence (step 5), and if you'd followed step 4 then the bureaucrat renaming links would be automatically in place. --99of9 (talk) 01:09, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What are you all looking at?[edit]

What are you all looking at? I'm genuinely bemused why 100 people a day read my userpage (and plenty end up on the talk page too). Why are you here? What are you hoping to find (so that maybe I can provide something useful!)? Please leave a comment here to help me work this out. --99of9 (talk) 01:18, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I personally add one's talk page when I contacted him/her for a help and un-watch it after a while. But nowadays I keep some of the most helpful users in my watchlist even though I may not contact them frequently. The purpose is their replies to other people too are very helpful to me in learning things and policies. All crats and a few admins are in my watch list. :) Jee 08:14, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. I do similar with talk pages, but I hardly ever visit user pages (possibly once or twice per user). You also have a lot of visitors every day, who all flooded in in early November. Do you know anything of significance that happened on that date? I'm wondering if there's some kind of robotic activity of late. --99of9 (talk) 10:19, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In November, I was "a bit involved" in the NSFW discussions on FPC talk and Nsfw DR. In December my name is referred in the wmf:Resolution:Media about living people discussions as one who contacted the Board for such an amendment. :( Jee 11:02, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, here's another suspicion-raiser. User:Gloecknerd gets visited about 400 times a day, and has since the 10th of January. Yes, that's a redlink folks. Who would visit a redlink 400 times a day??? The editor has been renamed away from that name to User:Hic et nunc for years. Anyone got an explanation for this? --99of9 (talk) 10:33, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:Hic et nunc is/was very active in Graphics lab; so may have many visitors. May be the the old link in the contact list of old members. Jee 11:09, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If that was the reason, I can't see why they would all have suddenly started in January of this year. --99of9 (talk) 12:22, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've only 36 page watchers; so does that info is wrong or some bot checks? Hic et nunc also has only less than 30 page watchers. Jee 12:42, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I have no idea what these sometimes over 600 visits mean. Bots? I don't know and I can't see any reason to look for an empty site. Renaming was done because of private reasons. But this was in 2011!--Hic et nunc (talk) 11:33, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Category naming[edit]

Hello, i do not know if you are the right person here to ask; you where just near top of the admin list so i dare :). I have tried today to sort a few pictogram of bicycles and motor bicycles and i am wondering about the slight CAT naming chaos and would maybe like to rename some categories accordingly like Category:Silhouettes of bicycles‎ to Category:Silhouettes drawings of bicycles‎. How do i do that ? Can you help me clear my mind on what is wrong or right ? Is there a guideline to the priority in naming use of either Pictogram, Icon or Symbol ? So for example there is a meta category of Category:Transport_icons but that is a subcat of a non meta category called Category:Symbols of transport. My logic says it is either one of them but not both and worse Transport_icons being a subcat of Category:Symbols of transport. an you help me ? Thanks --Walta (talk) 17:17, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear User:Walta, I'm sorry for the slow reply. It's partly because I can't fully understand your question without looking at the categories in detail. Also, I'm not really a category expert, and don't participate in many category discussions. So perhaps you could raise this at Categories for Discussion or the Village Pump. Sorry I couldn't be of help. --99of9 (talk) 11:35, 23 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

violate copyrights[edit]

Hello, because often violate copyrights of my photos I want to remove from Wikipedia or other methods to add photo protection. How is this possible? File:Cetatea_Sorocii.JPG File:Cetatea_Soroca.JPG File:Cetatea_Soroca.jpg File:Cetatea_Sorocii.jpg Thanks in advance! Sincerely, Vadim Shterbate

Usually it is not possible to simply remove your work from Commons, because it has been irrevokably released under a free license. But you could try preparing a Deletion request, and the community may agree to a Courtesy deletion. Personally, I certainly understand the issue of outsiders violating copyright (it happens to me often too), but would appreciate if you could leave these photographs with us, because they are being used on the wikipedias to teach the world about your country - thanks! --99of9 (talk) 01:26, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with Terms of Agreement[edit]

Hey, 99of9! I'm from Romania, I'm passioned of football (soccer) and I want to add images of my favorite team's players. I found this site which belongs to MediaFax. The site says that I can use their photos only for non-commercial use. Here is a translated version: [4]. Can I use their photos? Which license will I use if I will add MediaFax's photos? Many thanks. 8Dodo8 (talk) 13:11, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking first. No, we do not accept images unless they are licensed for commercial use. See COM:L for further details. (See if you can get your own photos of the team?) Best regards. --99of9 (talk) 21:30, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted some photos for each player in the squad, there's no way I could do them myself. I'll search for sites which allow commercial use. Thanks for the response. BTW, I heard that every photo posted on Flickr can be added on Wikipedia, is it correct? That wouldn't help me too much either, anyway.8Dodo8 (talk) 11:00, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, most Flickr photos cannot be used. Usually they are marked "all rights reserved". What you're looking for is something like CC-BY-SA (but it cannot have a NC = non-commercial in it). --99of9 (talk) 12:52, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement[edit]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open![edit]

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]

Hello 99of9,
I know I'm a late, but I noticed during the last days that your submission for Newsworthy (which I really like), was taken last autumn - and I restricted the pictures to those from 2014 (which probably was not a good idea, but I still can't change the rules...). Which probably should also count for Port Kembla Copper Stack, even if that's really borderline, as the news are for February and the picture is only three days too early (my restriction was to prevent old news, which isn't the case here). Sorry, Anna reg (talk) 22:16, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This projects bureaucrat's are asleep at the wheel? -- please wake up[edit]

As we know from COM:BUREAUCRATS, "bureaucrats are expected be capable of leading where necessary and of guiding (but not imposing their will on) policy discussions and other major community issues."

I need to draw your attention to an issue which is going to blow up in the collective faces of this project, and with the exception of User:Odder, every single one of our bureaucrats has been asleep at the wheel. We are now destined for a trainwreck, and a whole heap of fallout. Numerous chapters, including Wikimedia Israel, Wikimedia Spain, Wikimedia Argentina and Wikimedia Venezuela, are going to be in a mighty pissed mood and ready to have the head on a stick of any bureaucrat who dares come along and do what has to be done for the good of this project.

As User:Odder has opined in the discussion, him doing what needs to be done will surely have cries of "INVOLVED" levelled at him, so this is now left up to the remaining 8 bureaucrats to snap out of the slumber they seem to be in as it relates to this issue, and deal with it before it blows up further in our collective faces.

Further information can be found at:

  1. Commons:Massive_restoration_of_deleted_images_by_the_URAA
  2. associated policy pages, templates, wikimedia-l mailing list, undeletion request forums, etc.

The community is waiting for immediate action on this issue. Can you please initially confirm that you have received this message, so that the community knows that you haven't died in your sleep :) russavia (talk) 00:09, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Question about identifiable person in photo taken in Spain[edit]

Hi 99of9,

It's been a while! I hope you are well. I have a question. Maybe you can answer (or know who I could answer). I just uploaded a photo taken in Madrid from a book stall, where there is an identifiable person in public looking at the books (my first upload from Spain). I went to check Commons:Country_specific_consent_requirements#Spain to see if I should add some personality rights template or something, and saw that, oops, Spain is very restrictive concerning photos of identifiable persons. As I have not gotten the consent from the person, I guess the file should be deleted as I read the guideline? Do you agree? Should I just file a DR on it (the photo is just uploaded and not in use)?

Best wishes, --Slaunger (talk) 22:05, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is it fall under the exception "There is no illegal intromission: In case of predominant and relevant cultural interests (section 8.1)."? Jee 03:32, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In a mail I have been pointed to Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Beggars in Spain, from which it appears, that my original upload was problematic as two persons were identifiable. I have now uploaded a new version, where their faces are blurred. --Slaunger (talk) 06:16, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, great. It looks like User:russavia has already deleted the offending version, thanks. --99of9 (talk) 07:25, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

sure[edit]

Of course you advise "against" me going to some admin page. As you sure know the outcome. I never met an admin who can criticize a fellow admin. Now please answer: is them a king/admin? Or just a friend/admin? -DePiep (talk) 00:55, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(EC) Nobody is the king. I know it seems like we are all conspiring against you when we support each other, but usually it's because we all agree it was the correct decision (the deletion), based on long-standing site policy. As I understand it, you are also annoyed that you didn't get a direct notification (apart from the edit summary on your watchlist). This may be an area where we can improve our processes, but please bear in mind that we process thousands of deletions every day, and when I say "we", I mean whichever admins are willing to step up to the plate for this very laborious job. It is often only a handful of people. They can't possibly write thousands of personal messages. --99of9 (talk) 01:05, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unconvincing. You talk me down (before and now), while not saying a letter to the shortsighted deletor (who did not step back one letter themselves). Anyone with an editor's heart would have tried to save that page. Those with an admin's sword work the environments. -DePiep (talk) 01:19, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Dustin V. S.: Thankyou, @Teles: is correct, I was trying to remove the semi-protection, I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. Fixed now. --99of9 (talk) 05:13, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I figured it was something of that sort. There's not much point in having a talk page you can't edit is there? Thanks for fixing the problem! Dustin (talk) 05:17, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Larry Groupe photos[edit]

Hi. I'm a new editor, learning slowly and making mistakes. I still don't know how to "talk" when I receive a message. I'm not sure how I got on this page!

With regard to the Larry Groupe photos, I uploaded several to the Commons without sufficient copyright information and asked for at least one to be "speedy deleted." I think they should all be deleted until I can figure out how properly to use a photo in Wikipedia.

I apologize. I'm actually a public defender and should be at ease with legal issues. But assuring compliance with copyright and Wikipedia's regulations and format is very confusing to me at present. I will try to figure it out and do it right the next time.

The same holds true for a photo of Jean Paul Sartre's funeral that I uploaded to his Wikipedia page. I was at that funeral in 1980, doing my Master's in French! But the photo that I uploaded probably does not meet Wikipedia's copyright requirements.

Regards,

Douglas

  • @User:Issyvoo You found the right place to reply to me (although I am also watching your own talk page where I wrote the message to you, so I would see it there too). Ok, thanks for letting me know, I will delete them soon. If you have any photographs that *you* personally photographed, they are automatically eligible if you license them under a free license, which you can do just by stating which one you choose. However if you did not take them, you will have to provide proof that the original author (copyright holder) has released them under a free license. --99of9 (talk) 07:22, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

An important message about renaming users[edit]

Dear 99of9,

I am cross-posting this message to many places to make sure everyone who is a Wikimedia Foundation project bureaucrat receives a copy. If you are a bureaucrat on more than one wiki, you will receive this message on each wiki where you are a bureaucrat.

As you may have seen, work to perform the Wikimedia cluster-wide single-user login finalisation (SUL finalisation) is taking place. This may potentially effect your work as a local bureaucrat, so please read this message carefully.

Why is this happening? As currently stated at the global rename policy, a global account is a name linked to a single user across all Wikimedia wikis, with local accounts unified into a global collection. Previously, the only way to rename a unified user was to individually rename every local account. This was an extremely difficult and time-consuming task, both for stewards and for the users who had to initiate discussions with local bureaucrats (who perform local renames to date) on every wiki with available bureaucrats. The process took a very long time, since it's difficult to coordinate crosswiki renames among the projects and bureaucrats involved in individual projects.

The SUL finalisation will be taking place in stages, and one of the first stages will be to turn off Special:RenameUser locally. This needs to be done as soon as possible, on advice and input from Stewards and engineers for the project, so that no more accounts that are unified globally are broken by a local rename to usurp the global account name. Once this is done, the process of global name unification can begin. The date that has been chosen to turn off local renaming and shift over to entirely global renaming is 15 September 2014, or three weeks time from now. In place of local renames is a new tool, hosted on Meta, that allows for global renames on all wikis where the name is not registered will be deployed.

Your help is greatly needed during this process and going forward in the future if, as a bureaucrat, renaming users is something that you do or have an interest in participating in. The Wikimedia Stewards have set up, and are in charge of, a new community usergroup on Meta in order to share knowledge and work together on renaming accounts globally, called Global renamers. Stewards are in the process of creating documentation to help global renamers to get used to and learn more about global accounts and tools and Meta in general as well as the application format. As transparency is a valuable thing in our movement, the Stewards would like to have at least a brief public application period. If you are an experienced renamer as a local bureaucrat, the process of becoming a part of this group could take as little as 24 hours to complete. You, as a bureaucrat, should be able to apply for the global renamer right on Meta by the requests for global permissions page on 1 September, a week from now.

In the meantime please update your local page where users request renames to reflect this move to global renaming, and if there is a rename request and the user has edited more than one wiki with the name, please send them to the request page for a global rename.

Stewards greatly appreciate the trust local communities have in you and want to make this transition as easy as possible so that the two groups can start working together to ensure everyone has a unique login identity across Wikimedia projects. Completing this project will allow for long-desired universal tools like a global watchlist, global notifications and many, many more features to make work easier.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the SUL finalisation, read over the Help:Unified login page on Meta and leave a note on the talk page there, or on the talk page for global renamers. You can also contact me on my talk page on meta if you would like. I'm working as a bridge between Wikimedia Foundation Engineering and Product Development, Wikimedia Stewards, and you to assure that SUL finalisation goes as smoothly as possible; this is a community-driven process and I encourage you to work with the Stewards for our communities.

Thank you for your time. -- Keegan (WMF) talk 18:24, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Images deletion[edit]

Hi, I am one of the organisers for this year's Wiki Loves Monuments Pakistan (WLMP). One of our participants has mistakenly uploaded his images before time and I was wondering if it would be possible for you to delete them so that he can upload them again later. I do believe it is unorthodox request. However, considering that it is the first time that WLMP is being held, I would like to help and encourage all those who are making an effort to participate by helping them through the process and rectify their mistakes. I would appreciate if my request for deletion of his images is considered sympathetically. His images are here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:ListFiles/Muh.Ashar Rzafar (talk) 17:37, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If he/she confirms e.g. here that he/she wants the images deleted, I could easily do it.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:33, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Rzafar yes, please get User:Muh.Ashar to confirm this. --99of9 (talk) 00:25, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@99of9, Ymblanter, and Rzafar: Dear Admin, Hope you are fine and doing well. I have uploaded some images in Wikimedia Commons for Wiki Loves Monument Pakistan contest but I forgot the point that photos need to be uploaded between September-01 to September-30 to make them available in contest so I request you to please remove my already uploaded photos so i can upload them again during September-01 to September-30. My photo link is as follow: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:ListFiles/Muh.Ashar So kindly remove my currently uploaded photos so I can upload them again after 01-September to include them in contest. I have tried again system allow me to upload other photos but the photos which are deleted earlier, system not allow to upload them again and give message. Kindly look into this issue and help me to resolve. Thanks in advance.Muh.Ashar (talk) 20:12, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You can slightly modify each image (e.g. chop off one pixel from the side), and then it will not stop you from re-uploading. Perhaps you can do it with only a change to the metadata? I'd be interested to know. --99of9 (talk) 06:46, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes after doing slight changes in photos now system allow me to upload these photos. Thanks Muh.Ashar (talk) 13:38, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Making/sourcing demographic maps[edit]

Hi Tony,

Do you have time for a quick step by step as to how you created the demographic map shown below? Thank you in advance.

File:Australian Census 2011 demographic map - Australia by SLA - BCP field 0051 Indigenous Persons Both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Persons.svg

Martin

Hi Martin. I'm glad you like it! I'm afraid it was an enormous amount of work and took up most of my spare time for months writing scripts/programs which specifically crunched the Australian census databases and the Australian geographic boundaries to spit out raw svg. It was only really worth the investment because I can now generate hundreds of thousands of 2011 Australian maps with the same script (and I'm hoping it won't take too much modification for 2016...) What specifically would you like to do? Is it an Australian map you want to make? I'm happy to share code or advice, but my advice will depend on your objectives. --99of9 (talk) 11:01, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tony,

I'm not surprised it was hard, the result is impressive. I'm undertaking research in Indigenous education and am looking to show where Indigenous people are living (overlaid on an Australian map) but then get some more specific mapping in a particular state, at this stage QLD. Very interested in working and learning from you. Would you like to take this conversation off Wiki?

Whichever forum you prefer. To email me, click "Email this user" in the "Tools" menu on the left panel of this page. I've already made some Queensland maps. The ones relevant to your project are in the subcategories of:
Have a bit of a look around, and see if I've already got what you need. I plan to also zoom in on Brisbane at some stage, but haven't gotten around to it yet.--99of9 (talk) 04:18, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Code issues in User:99of9/common.js[edit]

Hi 99of9, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited User:99of9/common.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!
