Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

categories and {categorise}[edit]

Hi, as imho pointed before ('vandalism' mentioned by you), thank you for using >meaningful categories< and respecting {categorise}, i.e. please avoid to use 'main caregories respectively avoid 'over-categorizing', p.e. one of your three (as of Sept. 14/15, 2013) 'one-file-only' categories Category:Mukul Wasnik

Category:Male politicians of India and/or Category:Politicians of Maharasthra and/or Category:Indian National Congress politicians and/or Category:Lok Sabha membersetc instead of Category:Indian National Congress politicians + Category:Indian Youth Congress Presidents + Category:Politicians of India + Category:People of Maharashtra: + Category:Lok Sabha members + Category:Members of the Cabinet of India + Category:Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj etc.

The main category is Politicians of India or Businesspeople from India or Designers from India, as for all other countries (Polticians of Germany, Designers from Norway, Cricketeers from Australia etc). Some users have started to seperate the females from the males. OK, why not.

When you want to underline, that a politician works in a special Indian state or town, you can give an additional category as Politician of Kerala, but Politicians of India should always be the first and most important cat. 91.66.153.214 13:14, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal? Troll?[edit]

Don't use the therm "vandalism" to refer to the removal of categories from spam images, soon to be deleted. You may wish to devote your time to categorizing images that aren't under consideration for deletion. Acroterion (talk) 18:25, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried it, but blocked people can't use the template, so I reverted myself one day later https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:91.66.153.214&diff=prev&oldid=110044877&uselang=de#Your_block_appeal_at_en-wp . Later I looked at the other blocked people in Category:Requests for unblock and found out, that IP 50.174.76.70 has never got an answer since 22. Sept. 2013.
