Annoyingly, the English Wikipedia has "Subject to disclaimers" as part of its default GFDL license. This template is for images licensed as GFDL on EN. dbenbenn | talk 21:57, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Author name[edit]

{{Editprotected}} Could someone please add the possibility of a parameter so that the original author can be included. Similar to how {{GFDL-user}} works. /Lokal_Profil 22:23, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's imho no obvious need to put the author's name in the licence tag, it can be stated in the {{Information}} tag. Keep things simple. Michelet-密是力 18:55, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why not use {{GFDL-user-en}} ? --Denniss 09:14, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why use a second template when one can do both? The reason for why it is important is that many people only look at the license and the uploader. This is the reason for why {{GFDL-user}} exists in the first place. Anyhow ading that parameter and then having the default look as the template would not complicate things. /Lokal_Profil 22:03, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding meaning of words[edit]

For translation it would be helpful to understand the meaning of the english text. When it says ";with no Invariant Sections, no Front-Cover Texts, and no Back-Cover Texts."

What does the "with" after the semi-colon refer to? Do I have it right that if refers it the "permission to copy"? So that the meaning is, "It is alright to copy, etc. this document but do so without the invariant sections, front-cover texts, etc..?" --130.215.96.195 22:28, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, it means that the original "Text" (i.e. the work) contains no "Invariant Sections, no Front-Cover Texts, and no Back-Cover Texts". Thus, any part of the work can be modified (except the disclaimer). Superm401 - Talk 17:29, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Naming[edit]

What's up with this template vs {{GFDL/en}}? --Waldir talk 21:26, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disclaimers of English wikipedia?[edit]

In the last part Template:GFDL-en refers to en:Wikipedia:General disclaimer (even though Commons has its own Commons:General disclaimer), while Template:GFDL/en says "A copy of the license is included in the section entitled "GNU Free Documentation License" ". It is confusing. Can't they be the same? --miya (talk) 15:11, 19 June 2009 (UTC)15:40, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Error in German version[edit]

@Jarekt: Your edits seem to have caused an error in the German language version:

[[|Haftung]] ist ausgeschlossen.

I haven't found the reason. Could you please attempt to fix it? --Leyo 01:14, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed See here. Thanks for pointing it out. --Jarekt (talk) 01:57, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
