Template for images of text pages from the Internet Archive’s scan of Owen Jones’ book Examples of Chinese ornament, selected from objects in the South Kensington Museum and other collections, London: S. & T. Gilbert, 1867.

Parameters:

  1. Previous page number (Arabic numeral, end of file name, with leading zeros, format: 000)
  2. Current page number (Arabic numeral, exactly like in the book, without leading zeros)
  3. Next page number (Arabic numeral, end of file name, with leading zeros, format: 000)

About the license: Please use {{PD-old-100}} with all images. This seems the most appropriate license tag, because we can consider the digital images either as scans or as “reproduction photographs” which were done exactly like scans, i.e. with purely reproductive intention. The text itself and any illustrations are in the Public Domain, because Owen Jones died more that 100 years ago (in 1874).

Description

This image shows page {{{2}}}. The book contains no more than 15 text pages, followed by the 100 plates.

About the file format: I have added the images of all pages as individual image files, and not the complete book as a single PDF/DjVu file, because (a) the quality of the individual images is somewhat better than the quality of the images in a PDF/DjVU file, (b) for many users it is easier to use the individual image files than to extract any image from the PDF/DjVu file first, and (c) the use of individual images for the pages allows us to add special categories or other hints to any of the images, as appropriate. — The original image files on the website (see Source) are JPEG 2000 (.jp2) files, but JPEG 2000 is not a completely free file format and (therefore?!) currently not supported by Commons; saving the image files in JPEG format would have introduced some loss of quality; therefore I have converted the image files to PNG files.
