There are Russian islands on map showed as Japan territory. It is mistake. And I don't know how to edit .svg file for corecting this mistake

"Claimed" territories[edit]

I will continue to revert any restorations of versions with "claimed" "Northern territories". The South Kuril Islands is the officially internationally recognized territory of Russia and controlled by Russia - therefore, this is not the case, for example, of Crimea, marked on the maps as "disputed" territory. According to the Soviet–Japanese Joint Declaration of 1956 (ratified by both parties), the issue of transferring the islands to Japan could only be raised after the conclusion of a peace treaty (which is not concluded so far). If for some purposes you want to specify the South Kuril Islands as a disputed (by Japan) territory, upload a separate file, the name of which must contain the word "claimed" - as it is, for example, here. So, just stop this stupid edit warring.--Soul Train (talk) 23:35, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Soul Train: I have created a new upload on Commons here in response to your complaint. Goszei (talk) 01:58, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So that's OK.--Soul Train (talk) 13:30, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I dont really have problem about your point, but pls make sure the new version still in 3D scheme. The new one you uploaded all in grey color, badly affect to the display of image when using in a infobox. --minhhuy (talk) 13:15, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Light green is standard for uncontrolled claims within this map series. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 10:16, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also please check Commons:Overwriting existing files for any modifications affect to the widely used file in Wikimedia projects. You should upload another file instead overwrite this file. --minhhuy (talk) 15:16, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Much of the lands that Russia occupies in East Asia was forcefully taken from native Asian peoples. While Russia is currently the largest country in the world, it is greedy because it doesn't return land to the native Asian peoples. Russia's claim to territories in East Asia is as disputable as Russia's undemocratic annexation of Crimea from the Ukraine. The referendum was rigged and didn't ask all Ukrainians if they wanted to give up Crimea. Just because Russia currently occupies Crimea does not make it rightfully theirs. The USSR claimed most of East Europe, but failed too, because the people wanted independence. The Kuril islands were first occupied by Asian peoples and they are the rightful owners of the land. Soul Train wants to remove it from the map, because he or she wants people to forget that Russia occupies other people's lands (Crimea, Chechnya, Siberia, Kamchatka parts of Mongolia etc.) If people forget about it, then other people will become victims such as Belarus which is at risk of being annexed. This dispute is officially recognized internationally so it should be highlighted. - Artanisen (talk) 22:01, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
