Description
Deutsch: Das Video zeigt die Entstehung eines kleinen und ungefährlichen Brandungsrückstromes am Strand der Nordseeinsel Wangerooge, etwas westlich vom Hauptort gelegen. Von einer Rinne parallel zum Ufer fließt das Wasser schnell entgegen der Wellenbewegung ins Meer zurück. Im Englischen spricht man von Rip currents. An der süfranzösischen Atlantikküste bezeichnet man das Phänomen als Baïne. In größerem Maßstab sind solche Brandungsrückströme lebensgefährlich und häufig der Grund für tödliche Badeunfälle.

Die Aufnahme entstand in der ersten Hälfte des Monats Juli 2023.
