Description
Deutsch: Das kurze Video zeigt, wie ein kleiner ungefährlicher Brandungsrückstrom entgegen den Wellen und unter diese hinunter führt. Größere solche Ströme können Menschen unter Wasser und von der Küste wegziehen. Sie sind unter anderem in Frankreich (Baine) und Florida (Rip currents) verantwortliche für tödliche Badeunfälle.

Die Aunfahme hier entstand am Strand der Nordseeinsel Wangerooge, etwas westlich des Hauptortes, in der ersten Hälfte des Juli 2023.

Nicht nur die Brandung, auch die Gezeiten können starke Strömungen bewirken, auch bei spiegelglatter See. Siehe dazu den kurzen Video zu einer Gezeitenstufe im Hafen von Wangerooge.
