Faroese stamps 1987

In 1987, Postverk Føroya, the postal administration of the Faroe Islands, issued 17 stamps including one stamp as a miniature sheet.

Old farm houses[edit]

Date of issue was 9 February 1987, artists Jákup Pauli Gregoriussen (drawing) and Czesław Słania (engraving).

Europe CEPT[edit]

The Europe CEPT edition of 1987 depicts the Nordic House in the Faroes, Tórshavn. Engraver was Slania, and date of issue 6 April.

Trawlers[edit]

This set of three from 1 June 1987 displays three Faroese trawlers. The stamps were designed by Bárður Jákupsson.

Hestur[edit]

The stamp set of five from 7. September shows motifs from the island of Hestur. Four of the stamps are based on photographs and one on a graphic by Ole Wich. Engraver was Slania.

Hafnia 1987[edit]

This miniature sheet from 16 October is the second part of the Hafnia edition, which started 1986 with an old picture of Tórshavn, Eastern Bay. The Danish merchant Christian Rosenmeyer also painted the Western Bay in 1782, which is shown on the stamp.

Zacharias Heinesen[edit]

To complete the Hafnia series of motifs of the two bays of Tórshavn, the same day (16 October) was issued a set of the series "Faroese contemporary art", showing two paintings by Zacharias Heinesen.
