Comments after poll closed[edit]

  1. I also agree with Howcheng. If we run out we can use some good and various pictures, not pictures from the same category as it happened in the past months... Dake 10:46, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose/Kontra[edit]

We do. See below.--MichaelMaggs 21:42, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral/Comments[edit]

  • Comment I think FP should be the main stay with QI images being used only when necessary. Gnangarra 07:32, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment If you are not convinced we have enough images that qualify, please look at these [1][2][3][4], these are just 4 months worth of Quality Images and most have not been POTD. New Quality Images are promoted at a rate of about 30 per month. Quality Images combined with Featured Pictures means we have more than enough for each month without reusing. --Digon3 13:26, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Why not-logged-in users have to show that they have been involved with POTD in the past (eg added an image or translation) ? I think they can vote if they have any positive contributions to commons, don't I ?   ––odder 13:51, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • OK, I made that condition. I am not sure if it was a good idea. :) Usually, anonymous users cannot take part in any kind of vote or poll except for comments. I just thought it would be nice to extend a vote to anonymous users who actually have taken part in POTD in the past, since IMO POTD has a relatively high involvement of anonymous editors. I dunno. I could be wrong. pfctdayelise (说什么?) 15:18, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • So in other words this is LESS restrictive than normal? Seems good to me. the preceding unsigned comment is by Lar (talk • contribs) 17:57, 23 October 2006
So the Daily Picture of community X is not an option anymore by such Poll? --Tarawneh 00:23, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean? There is only one POTD now, is there not? It just has different names. pfctdayelise (说什么?) 05:43, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This confusion is coming from the language translations in languages other than english which didnt say "POTD should from FP" Gnangarra 06:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is rather the case that the English language version was changed unilaterally without any discussion in other languages. It was the English language instructions that were out of step. A lesson, I'd suggest, in the importance of multilingual coordination. Man vyi 06:30, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think the proposal is that all languages, including English, should be changed to reflect the wording suggested at the top of this page.--MichaelMaggs 10:08, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think that it should be recommended to use Quality or Featured images. But should all other images be excluded from PotD even if they are interesting for some other reason than the image quality? I think Commons have historical or unusual pictures that are of good enough quality to be PotD, but not good enough to be a quality or featured image. /82.212.68.183 21:30, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • It was recommended before this poll, and that didn't work --Digon3
