Welcome to the Photowikimeetup page held in London on Friday, August 8th!!

Why?[edit]

The purpose is just having fun and getting to know more Commoners or Wikimedians interested in photography. At the same time it is a good opportunity to gather material for the Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 edition, where UK is participating. Those photographers with less experience can also get useful hints from the more experienced ones.

Time and meeting point[edit]

We'll meet on Friday, August 8th at 7:30 p.m. 7:00 p.m. in the open semicircle at Barbican, located in the 3rd floor and that you can see through the windows from all Fobisher rooms, and we leave together at 7:10 p.m. It will get late, so, don't forget to bring your tripod with you!

What?[edit]

Some people interested in photography and active in Commons that attended last year's Wikimania edition in Hong Kong used the opportunity to organize a joint photo tour meeting, learn from each other and have a good time.

Depending on the weather we are setting up 2 itineraries:

Good weather[edit]

  • 7:10 pm we leave from the open semicircle at Barbican towards Barbican Station
  • 7:40 pm arrival in Westminster Station (Circle Line goes directly from Barbican to Westminster) and take some pictures from the Westminster bridge during the golden hour of
  • 8:30 pm we leave towards the Waterloo bridge
  • 8:45 pm we take nice blue hour shots of the City from the Waterloo bridge
  • 9:45 pm we leave towards Tate Modern
  • 10:00 pm we target Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe

Bad weather (not needed :))[edit]

  • 7:10 pm we leave from the open semicircle at Barbican towards Barbican station. There we take the subway to King's Cross Station
  • 7:30 we keep dry in King's Cross and target the architecture of the station and Harry Potter's 9 3/4 platform
  • 9:00 we move over to St Pancras station (nearby)
