This is a work-in-progress page of proposed filenames and categorisations, in preparation for a batch upload of maps from the British Library Mechanical Curator collection on Flickr.

The page has been generated by machine, based on map co-ordinates and map names gathered through the British Library georeferencing tool. (See this page about the georeferencing for more detail). Please do not edit this page directly, as all edits will be overwritten when the page is next re-generated. Instead, please use the georeferencer tool directly, if you would like to improve georeferencing or modify names. Changes should usually be reflected here within about the next 36 hours (often sooner).

  • The most valuable information that may be still needed before upload are names for some of the maps. The maps still missing names  are highlighted  below. Names can be added in the BL Georeferencer as follows: Click on the highlighted link below to open the map in the georeferencer, and then "This map", the right-most of the black tabs above the map image. Right-clicking on the image there will open it on Flickr, where it can be zoomed to read the title. The "This map" tab should give you an option to add the title. Please add it as closely as given on the page.
Note: title changes in the georeferencer will not be synchronised to the copy held in the central spreadsheet until a 'save' is made in the georeferencing tab. Therefore, if you update a title on the georeferencer, please then go to the 'Georeference' tab to put the tool into georeferencing mode, and then press the red 'save' button there at the top right; otherwise the name will be saved, but not forwarded to the central resource from which this page is generated. As noted above, once saved in this way changes should then be reflected here when this page is next regenerated -- usually within about 36 hours.

Other issues, including mis-identification or mis-categorisation, can probably most easily be sorted out after upload.

For further pages like this, see Category:MC upload prep pages. More detail about the preparations and how this page is generated can be found on this project page for the upload.
