English: RM was the class designation given by London Transport to the Routemaster bus in its original, shorter, version of the rear open platform configuration (i.e. bus). Excluding the prototypes, the production run for the RM class ran from RM8 (reg. VLT 8) built in 1958, to RM2217 (CUV 217C) built in 1965. The numbers RM5, RM6 & RM7 were also worn by production RM class Routemasters, but they weren't built until 1959 - the numbers being re-used from their original assignment, on three un-bodied road test platforms (which themselves were later bodied and entered service, as RM459/341/398). At a total of 2,119 buses, the vast majority of Routemasters ever built were of the RM class, eclipsing the 524 buses of the longer RML class that eventually replaced it.
