George Washington Kinner (1833-1919) was the son of Captain Caleb Kinner and he was born in Coram, New York. He married Julia A. Davis, of Middle Island. George Washington Kinner served in the American Civil War. He enlisted in August 1862, and was member of the 189th Regiment, New York Volunteers. He saw active service for thirty-four months, and was wounded in the battle at Petersburg, Virginia and his right foot and part of his leg were amputated. He was appointed postmaster of the Port Jefferson, New York and he held that position for twenty-one years. He died in 1919.
