Graphs for Covid-19 incidence in Romania[edit]

Hi, Would it be possible to have those cool graphs and videos you make for Romania as well? We have the incidence data in JSON format here (if you get redirected to the homepage, try a new private window, seems to currently be a bug). The county is "judet", value for each date is cases/1000 people. Let me know if you need any help from me and keep up the good job!--Strainu (talk) 15:52, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Strainu: , thanks, I'll have a look at it. Do you have any metadata about the numbers in the JSON source?. --x+1 (💬) 21:13, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, unfortunately I don't, but I can ask. Is there a certain format you're interested in?--Strainu (talk) 21:40, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Strainu: It took some time to get the data collected. The bot is now running daily updates on the cumulative map, 14-day prevalence and their corresponding data table - as long as sources stay available. x+1 (💬) 09:45, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks!--Strainu (talk) 10:14, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I added a few translations and a new field, which you can find in the field "abreviere" in the original data. It would be great if you could incorporate these in the bot, since it makes automated graphs much more readable (county names are too long).--Strainu (talk) 12:59, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Strainu: I have ported your changes to the datatable generator, new data should include your translations and the short name column. Next run will be at 18:23 CET. x+1 (💬) 13:23, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

14-day incidence[edit]

How is 14-day incidence calculated? I think it should be similar to 7day inc. + 7day 1 week before. I calculated this for Germany. the 7day values coincide very well with RKI https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/Daten/Fallzahlen_Kum_Tab.html.

In the average the 14day values are similar in my calculation (simple addition of 2 7-day incidences). But e.g. Kempten in the very south of Germany since yesterday shows a value above 500 - although 7day values were around 100 the past days - today even less.

Hi @Jschreiber: The data table offers a better insight, its first footnote describes what's happening. Originally, it simply used cases(day0) minus cases(day-14). Since the RKI started to publish their own 7-day incidence (column "Cases (7d) reported") within the same dataset, the RKI number for 7 days is used for the first week.
Here's the archived discussion about the change in the German wiki. -- x+1 (💬) 16:26, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

hi x+1, thanks a lot. There must be an error in the callculation of 14day-cases. In some cases this causes strong errors - like for Kempten, in most cases error seems to be small. Kempten had around 70cases/7day the past 2 weeks, decreasing the last days - so a sudden increase >300 is impossible. Through your archive-discussion link I found https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=f10774f1c63e40168479a1feb6c7ca74 - showing 3232 total cases for Kempten on may29 - 3104 on may15. The data coincide well with RKI. I can send you my calculations when you tell me an adress.Jschreiber (talk) 11:09, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

hi x+1, I just found a mistake in https://www.oberallgaeu.org/news/detail/corona-newsticker-oberallgaeu From May 21st to 22nd the total Cases steeply increased in Kempten and decreased! in Oberallgäu

Oberallg. Kempten

5934 .... 2957 .... May 21. 2021

5756 .... 3164 .... May 22. 2021

The opposite data shift between the neighbors occurred beginning of February. maybe this is the cause of the error? Which source is used by the robot? in https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=f10774f1c63e40168479a1feb6c7ca74 values seem to be ok. Jschreiber (talk) 11:30, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

COVID-19 pandemic in Albania, Montenegro and Moldova[edit]

Hi, after I have been told maps I'm trying to make are too bad, I need to ask you: Would it be possible for you to create maps for Albania, Montenegro and Moldova?
Data for Albania: https://coronavirus.al/statistika/. Albanian counties and their population: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counties_of_Albania
Data for Montenegro: https://www.covidodgovor.me/me/statistika, Montenegrin municipalities and their population: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Municipalities_of_Montenegro
Data for Moldova: https://gismoldova.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/d274da857ed345efa66e1fbc959b021b, Moldova districts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_divisions_of_Moldova
I'm sorry, I really tried, but I couldn't find any data pages, because I'm really bad at understanding technical issues. Will it be possible for you to make the maps without them? Thanks alot. Moson81 (talk) 22:21, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Moson81: , I've had a look at Albania and it looks promising so far. There's even a JSON API available. A few days will be needed to get the map template done and the 14-day incidence depends on 13 more days of data grabbing. Regarding Montenegro and Moldova, I'd still have to check maintainability. The smaller the country, the more often reporting formats used to change during the last year.
By the way, I don't think that your maps are bad and I respect the effort that must have gone into them over time. If I might propose an improvement, I'd add a legend and source links to their descriptions to ease comprehensibility. -- x+1 (💬) 00:37, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks alot! Moson81 (talk) 08:00, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

COVID-19 pandemic in Hungary[edit]

Hi again, I have seen maps you made to Albania and they look awesome! So I need to ask; would it be possible for you to make similar maps for Hungary as well? There is alot of data on this page: you need to click on "Adatok letöltése" to get them. Data is available for counties and every single municipality. Only problem is that they are in Excel format - does it mind? Thanks alot. Moson81 (talk) 21:25, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Moson81: it's more a legal issue. -- 09:30, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really understand. Does that mean it is illegal to make COVID-19 map of Hungary, therefore it is impossible to do so? Moson81 (talk) 06:38, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Practically speaking, a simple typo can land you in court.--x+1 (💬) 14:20, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You do not really have to do this data for every single municipality of course - there are more than 3500 and it took me three days of hard work to create this. I don't want you to do this much, but the map with counties would be really useful. You can see the county names and population data here. The first map are total cases, second percent of population affected by COVID-19, third is new daily cases by county and fourth is new cases per 100K inhabitants. Or is there any other issue why maps can't be made I don't know about? Moson81 (talk) 19:38, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it's impossible then with this data format? I'll probably try to make some maps on my own. Moson81 (talk) 10:58, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is a legal issue. I certainly won't touch it. --x+1 (💬) 15:44, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I don't understand what do you mean by that it's a legal issue, but I accept that you don't want to do it because of some problem with the data or legacy of their usage I guess? Thanks for your time and maps of Albania you've made. Moson81 (talk) 20:57, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have noticed a glitch on this map; some counties are shown to have way more cases than there actually were. It says there are total of 123.687 cases in Shkodër County, but there are only 12.437. In Fier County, there are total of 16.563 cases, but the map shows there are 161.307. The glitch occured on 19th October and since then, the map doesn't get updated anymore. Can you please fix it? Moson81 (talk) 20:40, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Moson81: there was a data error on the 18th leading to such numbers. Since then, an internal constraint did not allow an update of the cumulative map to a lower sum than the day before. I've forced such an update now. x+1 (💬) 02:00, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
