most of these kinds of uploads are low quality. but since you used it on your user page it should be ok. i will say so on the delete request and we will see what other editors think of it

the main problem is that we can't verify the source. it looks like a vimeo video but there is no link. we don't know if the image has the right licence for the wiki commons. you can read more about licecing at Commons:Licensing --Wvdp (talk) 11:17, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

Vimeo is hosting a video owned by Stiftelsen til fremme av Birgit Hagens kunst. They have placed the video at Vimeo for everybody to watch. It could have been placed at no:Hallindal Museum web site, but currently they cannot hoste streaming material, therefor Vimeo. I have added a link currently at no:Bruker:KjellG/Birgit later to be moved to article no:Birgit Hagen. The purpose of this picture is to give a clear indication of a link to a video. The video could have been uploaded to Commons. I do not know how and in what format. Video on WP seems a bit immature. Everything I do regarding Birgit Hagen are done in conjunction with and/or behalf of Stiftelsen.. and Hallingdal museum and coordinated with them. KjellG (talk) 12:23, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

Bildet er hentet fra et privat fotoalbum i Birgit Hagens familie. Fotograf er ukjent. Dersom kun copyright holder kan laste opp bilder til Commons, så er dette umulig, flere er over 70 år og uten PC. Ingen i Stiftelsen er i stand til å gjennomføre en slik opplasting. Derfor forsøkte de å delegere dette til meg. Reaksjonen fra Commons er ulogisk. Jeg lastet opp to bilder samtidig, i forståelse med Stiftelsen, de har sett resultatet og applaudert før dette ble slettet. Begge bildene tar utgangspunkt i deres materiale, men er lett manipulert av meg for å indikere start av en video. Det ene bildet ble slettet, det andre ikke, hvorfor? Det ene inneholder delvis et portrett, slettet. Det andre eksempel på Birgit Hagens kunst, ikke slettet? Begge bilder er underbygget med en tekstfil fra Stiftelsen, undertegnet av stiftelsens forkvinne som gir meg fullmakt til å laste opp materiale på deres vegne. Dette fikk jeg aldri noe forståelig respons på. Nå forstår jeg det slik at på Commons er det kun mulig å laste opp noe dersom du selv er Copyright holder, en sterk begrensning.

Jeg har forsøkt å hjelpe noen med lite kunnskap om WP/Commons, men innser at jeg burde holdt meg unna. I stedet planlegger Stiftelsen å rigge egen nettside hvor dette materiale kan publiseres. Det er greit for dem, WP går glipp av eksperimenter med video og på sikt, portrett og eksempler på BHs kunst. KjellG (talk) 18:39, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

I bought a Sony DSC-HX90V camera recently and I just happened to read the article about it. Hi, you marked this file for deletion with the note "there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license". I see in category:media missing permission as of 4 October 2018 that a couple of other Apple Maps logos were marked for deletion at the same time, so I wonder if in doing this batch you missed the fact that the info for this file does not claim that there is any license applicable to the file, nor any copyright holder, but that it is copyright-ineligible, being a set of simple geometric shapes. This characterisation can be contested, of course, but that is a different complaint, then. Do you think the file is copyright-eligible and therefore nonfree? well I think this is copyright eligible. the question is when some shapes a mondriaan. i know this argument doesnt fly on wiki projectes but what about the google maps logo it is about the same complexcety. so yes i question if this is too complex for a pd-shape licence. but i only raze the question it is to somebody else to answer the question. --Wvdp (talk) 20:58, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

I apologise for the delayed response. To address your points in reverse order: I believe it is the responsibility of each Commoner to both raise and answer questions about copyright, suitability for COM:SCOPE, freedom, and so on. We need resources, but we need our use of those resources to be ethically and legally defensible and, indeed, defended where appropriate. As for the comparison to the Google Maps logo, the reason why the "other things exist" argument often 'does not fly' on Wikimedia projects is that it is a w:en:logical fallacy; we can and should evaluate each case independently, although of course one file can be used to understand another. In this case, we do indeed have a vector version of the Google Maps logo: file:GoogleMaps logo.svg. Lastly, I got a chuckle out of your presumed comparison to such logos to the neoplastic works of Piet Mondrian. Arlo James Barnes 00:54, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

I'm sorry for tagging the image. i did not recognize the style. But since it is osm and the tiles are available as cc0 it should all be ok. Although you should use Template:OpenStreetMap to make clear that it is osm. And you should also add the link as you have already done.

So if you add the osm template than you can remove the source warning.

The main way is to see if the video is released under cc-by. you can find this if you click open the description. take for example this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEeseGUHJQ8 in the description it says that it is released under the creative commons. So you can cut out Gal Gadot and put her on the wiki commons if you use the right licence and template. In the search tools of youtube there is also a function to only search for creative commons videos.

Removing border

I reviewed the picture and i can't seem to find it. I did need to clear my cache before the updated image appeared. (ctrl+shift+R) thanks for the review, it is nice to see that my work is checked for errors. and someday we will have removed all borders from the german archive pictures. and then only the library of congress will remain. --Wvdp (talk) 11:59, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

I don't think that your work still needs to be reviewed - except for the random cases where all our work is "reviewed" by others. Do you know, when you get auto-patrolled rights (is it far away? It feels, like I patrolled your first edits months ago.) or should I ask an admin (I think no application is needed) to grant those right to you? --Mirer (talk) 14:06, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Oh my God ... just checked it myself, since I couldn't remember the rule. You have 27.000+ edits here since 2015. Unfortunately these rights are not automatically assigned on commons (unlike Wikipedia).

Even more unfortunate it looks as if too few of us care about user rights (like you and me here in this case ;-) ). I'll ask an admin to change that for you to autopatrol (see Commons:Patrol for more info on what changes or interest in other rights for you or others, you think are helpful. Sorry for the late notice of the amount of work you've done here, but it looks like the red link to the userpage always leads me to thinking that this is a somewhat new user. ;-| --Mirer (talk) 14:33, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Вікі любить пам'ятки 2021 в Україні / Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Ukraine

Привіт!

З 1 по 30 вересня вже традиційно пройде українська частина міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки»! В Україні цей конкурс пройде вже вдесяте. На конкурс можна подавати власні фото пам'яток історико-культурної спадщини України — і змагатися за призи. Більше можна прочитати за посиланням.

Радимо ознайомитися із детальними правилами, а також із відповідями на часті питання. Як і того року — у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток» можна отримати 21 бал за фотографії об'єктів, якщо світлин цієї пам'ятки раніше не було завантажено.

Нагадаємо, що всі фотографії автоматично беруть участь у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток»; однак для того, щоб фото позмагалося у номінації «Найкраще фото», потрібно підтвердити це при завантаженні.

Цього року вперше будуть окремо виділені фото з повітря (дронами, квадрокоптерами тощо) — у спеціальній номінації «Аерофото». Для того, щоб робота потрапила на спецномінацію потрібно вибрати її у Завантажувачі.

Також вперше проводиться спеціальна номінація «Пам'ятки Подесення», знову пройдуть спецномінації «Відео», «Єврейська спадщина», «Млини», «Пам'ятки національно-визвольної боротьби» та «Via Regia Ukraine». Для участі світлин у цих спецномінаціях не потрібно обирати нічого у Завантажувачі — світлини зараховуватимуться автоматично з відповідних списків.

Важливо! Цього року відбулася адміністративно-територіальна реформа. Однак, ми проводимо конкурс ще за попереднім адміністративно-територіальним устроєм. Ми почали роботу над створенням списків з новим поділом, але вона ще не є завершена. Ви можете користуватися тими новими списками, що вже є, якщо потрібно відшукати пам'ятку за новим поділом (деякі ОДА вже почали присилати у такому форматі), але пам'ятайте, що нові списки ще не є повними.

Привіт!

Нагадуємо, що до 30 вересня включно можна вантажити світлини та відео культурної спадщини України до національного етапу міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки»!

Зараз Україна посідає 3-є місце за кількістю завантажених світлин, поступаючись Російській Федерації та Німеччині. За першу половину місяця було завантажено світлини пам'яток із усіх регіонів України, але частина із них є дуже погано представлена. Севастополь зараз представлений тільки однією пам'яткою і одним фото, Крим — 12 пам'яток і 51 фото. Детальніше — у таблиці:

• «Аерофото» — для фото з повітря (зроблені дронами, квадрокоптерами тощо). Для того, щоб робота потрапила на спецномінацію потрібно вибрати її у Завантажувачі;
• «Відео» — для відеосюжетів з пам'ятками;
• «Єврейська спадщина» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом, і без нього;
• «Млини» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом, і без нього;
• «Пам'ятки національно-визвольної боротьби» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом, і без нього;
• «Пам'ятки Подесення» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом, і без нього;
• «Via Regia Ukraine» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом 15 населених пунктів, що за цим маршрутом є.

Wiki Loves Folklore 2023 in India is on!

Greetings from Wiki Loves Folklore India Team!

Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photography contest organized on Wikimedia Commons, this campaign invites participants to document folklore and intangible cultural heritage from different regions, including, folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folktales, folk games, folk religion, mythology and many more. Let's help to protect and develop our intangible Indian culture, which consists of customs or active expressions that we have acquired from our ancestors and passed down to our offspring.

How to Contribute?

The dates for the submission in the photography contest on Wikimedia Commons are from 1 February to 31 March 2023. Probably you are wondering how you can take part. It’s simple: grab a camera, record an image, video or audio under the folklore theme, create a Wikimedia account and start uploading!
