Johannes Wolff

Thank you for the pictures and that of him and Grieg. You were just in time!.

It looks like the ones you should thank is Bergen Public Library who made the effort to make these images available online and with a licence we could use. :-) TommyG (talk) 18:20, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
Pay attention to copyright
File:Abra Kulelagersenteret, Trondheim (1963) (13990658138).jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File:AIN.A11161.8773 (26479644732).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

QI nominate removed

Hi Tommy,

I've seen that you've removed your QI nomination File:Fryajuvet.jpg. I hope my comments didn't scare you, that wasn't the intention. Your file was really OK, the only thing that was really missing was a (or some) adecuate category. If you're going to nominate it again, the image will surely be promoted. The other points (EXIF and geotagging) are optional (but welcome).

By the way, normally the nominators don't remove the nominations from the list but change the state from /Nomination to /Withdrawn.

Best regards,

--Basotxerri (talk) 15:49, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Nah, don't worry about it, nothing to do with you :-) TommyG (talk) 17:51, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Bispegata

Hei, jeg flyttet disse bildene tilbake til Archaeological excavations in Norway, siden det nok er snakk om Bispegata i Oslo (som ble gravd ut omtrent samtidig ) og ikke i Trondheim. Profoss (talk) 13:39, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

@Profoss: Ah, takk for at du følger med :-) TommyG (talk) 15:24, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Reidar Andersen - biologist vs ski jumper

I see that you have categorized some pictures of Reidar Andersen (biolog) but the category named Reidar Andersen belongs to the ski jumper which died in 1991 and is not the same as the biologist with the same name so I would suggest that there should be created a new category for the biologist-person since he don't have any at present time. Would you take care of that, and I would suggest the use of {{Wikidata Infobox}} ? Happy new year from Migrant (talk) 18:41, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

Bare å slå deg løs og fikse om du har lyst. {{Wikidata Infobox}} er åpenbart noe av standardinnholdet i kategorier som har elementer i wikidata. TommyG (talk) 22:22, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Jacques Roux

Hello, TommyG.

Could you explain me why the two rename requests don't comply with renaming guidelines, please ? [1] [2]

Because this is the same situation than this one : [3], i.e. to refer to the appropriate sources (in this case, the DVD-ROM included in Walter Markov's study, Jacques Roux le curé rouge, and Claude Guillon).

Regards. --Guise (talk) 14:00, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Sorry, seems I made the wrong call. Have moved the files. TommyG (talk) 17:20, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
