Hello, Tokyoship!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Wii U Gamepad diagram[edit]

Hi there. I was just looking at the Wii U gamepad page on the English Wikipedia and noticed that the image for it had changed substantially since the last time I saw it. Previously it was almost photo-realistic with highlights/shadows etc, whereas now it is essentially a line drawing. I was just wondering if it was intentional, and if so why. All your other diagrams (e.g. the PlayStation Vita and the Wii U console) are still in this almost photo-realistic style, and the edit summary simply says "error fixes", and the file size is almost identical to the previous, "photo-realistic" one, which suggests to me that something has gone wrong somewhere. There also seems to be a problem with the aspect ratio, where Wikipedia renders it squashed horizontally and thus distorts everything. If I was sure it was an error I'd just revert it myself, but I'm not so I thought I'd ask you first. As an aside, if it was intentional, then personally I disagree with the decision. Alphathon /'æɫfə.θɒn/ (talk) 02:32, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, scratch that. There is something very strange going on here. I've just looked at it in Opera (web browser) and the edit history was different than it was in Firefox or Chrome! In Opera there was an additional edit where the file is replaced by User:Immewnity with the edit summary "official render". This edit does not show up in Chrome or Firefox (for me). I then logged in in Opera, and the edit disappeared again. I then logged back out again and it's still not there any more. I'm really not sure what's going on here. Alphathon /'æɫfə.θɒn/ (talk) 02:43, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for contacting. I just checked the file history. There seems to be no problem by now as checked from Google Chrome. It seems likely that you could fix the problem by reverting the file to the older version. I really appreciate your help. If there is any other problem, don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you very much. --Tokyoship (talk) 04:04, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's part of the problem it would seem: I have reverted it to an older version (3 times). For me, in Chrome (not logged in) the newest edit is shown to be by Immewnity at 05:41, 21 January 2013 (UTC). However, on Firefox, which is logged in, it shows my three reversions, the latest being 02:48, 27 January 2013 (UTC). However, in both FF and Chrome, if I then look at the "view history" tab (called 履歴表示 in Japanese I think), the edits show up there, and subsequently show up in the file history as well. This does not seem to happen from either FF or Chrome for Android, where the newest edit is still Immewnity's (although the reversions do show up in the view history tab). This really is a rather perplexing issue. Alphathon /'æɫfə.θɒn/ (talk) 20:17, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you see my reversions by the way? Alphathon /'æɫfə.θɒn/ (talk) 20:17, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

screenshot
To make things easier, I took a screenshot of the file's history as seen from my computer. It shows your three reversions well (every with your name Alphathon), and the latest change is yours in 02:48, 27 January 2013 (UTC)... This is the same as seen from whether Chrome, FF, Safari or IE9. I'm not sure but, I think that's a Wikimedia Commons error. Actually, I've experienced same issues few times until now, when trying to upload new file versions. But these errors get fixed naturally in matter of time. What means, the changes done which were not well shown in the history, will appear the as the time pass. I heard that these errors have to do with the Browser cache history or something. Anyway, you can see that there is no problem as seen from other people. So, don't care. Maybe you can contact with other people (who know more about Commons) in order to find out what's the cause of the issue. --Tokyoship (talk) 10:18, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it would appear that either somebody fixed what was causing the issue or it was a temporary issue server-side. (I don't think it was an issue with the server cache though, since I purged that while investigating.) It now appears correctly for me as well on all browsers. Thanks for the assistance. PSP e1000[edit]

Hi, your images are great! Could you please make one for the PSP e1000 (also known as PSP Street) ? That's the only Sony console wihout a common image.

Okay, I'll try it. Thank you for your request! Please keep in mind that it may take time. I'm a little busy with my studies these days.

Done. I could finish it earlier than I had expected. Here you have it. Tell me if it has errors. File:PSP E1000 illustration.svg

PS4 design[edit]

Hi !
Your job of graphic designer on Commons is just amazing ! I saw that you were doing vector picture of consoles (Nintendo and PlayStation). Can you handle the PS4 ? Thank you very much. Bye ! Bourgeois.A (talk) 07:32, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo 64 controller[edit]

Hello and konnichiha! Thank you for your wonderful work on all the video game art. I wonder if you would be interested in illustrating the Nintendo 64 controller. The Wikipedia article may not need it, but the OpenEmu software project does. Arigatou. Smuckola (talk) 01:33, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New Nintendo 3DS[edit]

Typo[edit]

Hello. I found a small typo in one of your illustrations. In the file PlayStation Vita Layout.svg you have written the screen size as 5' and not 5". That's 5 feet and not 5 inches. --havarhen (talk) 23:03, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
