If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

- Hi @Jan.Kamenicek: , could you check the copyright again? In the first page of the document released by Technology Division, it says distribution is unlimited. Sunlitsky (talk) 14:56, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. Unfortunately, unlimited distribution is not enough. The licence tag {{Cc-zero}} which you have attached to the file says that the author waived all of their rights to the work, which is not true in our case. There are also some less strict licenses available here in Commons, but none of them would be satisfied with pure allowing distribution. The crucial condition which is not met is allowing creation of derivative works. It is also not clear whether commercial use of the work is allowed. For details see Commons:Licensing. -- Jan Kameníček (talk) 16:39, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- "Unlimited distribution" in context means that the translation isn't under a restricted access list (i.e under security classification.) That is a different condition from it being free of copyright restrictions. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:01, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Jan Kameníček, ShakespeareFan00 Thanks both for clarification. Just one more question i have. I got the document from Defense Technical Information Center; their webpage (https://discover.dtic.mil/privacy-security-copyright/) appears to suggest that their work can be used without permission. Will that help?Sunlitsky (talk) 18:02, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- DTIC is a resource hub as I understand it. You still have to check the original copyright status on documents. (As I found with Naval Postgradute School thesis) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:11, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

- This was public domain in the US until the URAA restored the copyright, and probably the DTIC shouldn't be distributing it any more.--Prosfilaes (talk) 21:56, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Also, in 2021, Mir Titles (a russian publisher) published the document online in the internet archive (https://archive.org/details/zeldovich-theory-of-shock-waves-and-introductionc-to-gas-dynamics/page/3/mode/2up) for free. However, they give credit to the original uploader (https://mirtitles.org/2021/09/24/theory-of-shock-waves-and-introduction-to-gas-dynamics-zeldovich/).Sunlitsky (talk) 22:10, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
