Hi Sudzie, thanks for uploading this photo! Would you please add a location or coordinates to the description (also for any other files with geographical context)? Thanks in advance! --Schlosser67 (talk) 05:41, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I've done the best I can but there are no landmarks in a lot of the upper pennines and I don't have any coordinates. Sudzie (talk) 13:29, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Location?

[edit]

Hi Sudzie - could you also add the location where you took File:Conifer Tree Hedging.jpg, please - it will help with accurate identification and categorisation. Also for any others of your photos without location data. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 10:51, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, thanks! - MPF (talk) 20:25, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know. I get excited when a picture gets a commended so this is a real thrill. Sudzie (talk) 19:50, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sudzie, am I right in assuming that this photo shows a view of Sowerby Bridge? --Schlosser67 (talk) 11:30, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Schlosser. Very nearly there: It is taken from a small hill village called Heptonstall looking down across the western end of Hebden Bridge (which is about 6 miles West along Calderdale from Sowerby Bridge).
I have had a bash at getting the map reference - paper not satellite - Lat. 53 45' N, Long 2 3' W (OS Landranger Map 103 SD 976 283). I have been walking in this area for over 20 years and have never used a map so hopefully it is something like right. Sudzie (talk) 23:50, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for providing this information, I've travelled along the valley many times, but never climbed the hills, shame on me. Looking at the map, I can identify features such as the aqueduct of the Rochdale Canal, so I've corrected the category now. I believe it is a view west from the hills above Mytholmroyd, however. --Schlosser67 (talk) 12:06, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Too broad a category you have chosen, see File:Former_London_GLC_HQ_Building.jpg and rule at COM:C

[edit]

Please see COM:C

It is completely against COM:C to choose River Thames as a category where well-applicable subcategories exist. Kindly choose some nice subcategories of River Thames and do not clutter this head category, per its note there and this overarching, sensible principle. Thanks in advance! Hello Adam. How do I access the category section? I have only ever come across this area when uploading new files. Sudzie (talk) 11:52, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Search for a similar file, using a separate window/computer. Then you will find sensible categories which do enable your image to have a prominent home and to be not considered grandstanding (on the other hand). Adam37 (talk) 18:06, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution.
