Pay attention to copyright
File:SusanHutchison-official.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Ron, we are working with OTRS regarding our copyright and our permission statement. Thank you very much for your feedback, which has been helpful and which is appreciated. SteveBeren-Susan4Senate (talk) 16:55, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File:SusanHutchison-official.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Your username indicates that you're an employee or associated with the Susan4Senate campaign, if you can confirm this with the Wikimedia Commons OTRS team, however permission is also needed of the original photographer if you're not them unless the original photographer gave up their rights under a contract. Please e-mail permissions-commons@wikimedia.org to confirm this. I just saw that you tagged yourself as the photographer, you only need to confirm this by sending them (the OTRS team) with an official e-mail address, also note that there is a backlog of 169 days. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 14:11, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This photo (SusanHutchison-official.jpg) is our own work as an official campaign photo, and it is on the campaign website as an official campaign photo - see https://www.susan4senate.com/photos.html Users Alexis Jazz and RonHJones have also messaged us about this possibly being a copywright violation. This is our own work, and we note that you wrote as follows: "....you only need to confirm this by sending them (the OTRS team) with an offical e-mail address, also note that there is a backlog of 169 days." We will email OTRS at permissions-commons@wikimedia.org to so confirm. - Steve Beren - press@susan4senate.com - (425) 785-2016. SteveBeren-Susan4Senate (talk) 19:44, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's good, just don't panic if the image will get deleted because after the permission has been confirmed they will restore the photograph. And you (or y'all) should also be aware what having your files on Wikimedia Commons entails, please read the pages "Commons:Licensing" and "Commons:Scope", in short other people may use and modify your files however they see fit under the creative commons license (if you've selected that) on any other website and outside of the internet, if you wish you could request them to credit you. Don't worry, you won't lose the copyright, but you will loosen it. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 22:35, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That is all good, Donald. We realize the consequences of posting our files, and what that entails. We just want the correct, current, up-to-date, and official to be on the Wikipedia page (we also made a minor edit to update the caption under the photo). - SteveBeren-Susan4Senate (talk) 23:26, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you have contacted permissions-commons@wikimedia.org the deletion can be delayed while OTRS permission is pending. Make sure to stay in contact with permissions-commons@wikimedia.org until it is fully sorted out, they probably have some follow-up questions. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 00:28, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Will do. Thanks, Alexis. SteveBeren-Susan4Senate (talk) 01:05, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Our appreciation to both of you (Donald and Alexis). SteveBeren-Susan4Senate (talk) 16:54, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
