Thank you![edit]

Dear Seshadri.K.S,

your images are fantastic and really appreciated! One (mostly) small request: It would be very helpful if you could add at least the taxon category to your uploads (similar to this edit); unfortunately Commons as a media repository is only usable when all files are added to the category tree - the most important one for species images is the one derived from the tree of life. Yours, Rbrausse (talk) 12:11, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply - instead of writing an email it is probably easier to answer on your talk page (just click "edit" on the right side of the paragraph header and write away.
Uncategorized files are not a big deal; categorizing simply makes the content more accessible: I found your images by chance while adding content to an en.WP article :)
If you have any questions: Just place them on my talk page (use the "add topic" button to create a new paragraph) or here in this thread: Your talk page is on my watchlist.
When you're willing to learn something about the often weird ways of Commons a good starting point is our help desk. Our rules (official and inofficial) and the syntax are not as scary as it looks at first glance :)
Oh, one important point: Don't stop uploading, even if you're not familiar with categorization & stuff. Sooner or later someone fixes technicalities (anyone can do it with a little bit of experience), but not everybody can upload valuable content like your great images!

Hi! Thanks for the details. Email sounded so much easier than this. Now that you told me how to talk back and that I am using it, seems easy enough! Meanwhile, I tried uploading a file and realized I could just key in the categories in the respective field. Will make it a point to put in logical categories. Also went back on a previously uploaded image and added categories to it. Thanks! Seshadri.K.S (talk) 04:28, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Seshadri[reply]

You're welcome!
though email has two big disadvantages:
  1. Now I know your personal mail address, a data point not everyone likes to share :)
  2. In general, all wikimedia projects are based on transparency: It is much more straight-forward to use open discussions, as everyone can benefit and participate
one tiny remark: Your added "Reptiles" to File:Pink Headed Reed Snake.jpg - files are categorized in only one and the most exact category of a given tree: The cat "Calamaria schlegeli" is a sub-category of "Reptiles" -: Only the first one belongs on the description page.
but you'll learn the details of commons, I'm quite sure!

Pelophryne brevipes or P. signata?[edit]

Dear Seshadri.K.S,

you uploaded two files named (and categorized) as Pelophryne brevipes, but both photos are labeled as Pelophryne signata - which designation is correct (I think P. brevipes, as you added the images to this article at en.WP)?

Thanks, Rbrausse (talk) 08:21, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
