Thanks for uploading File:Logo of the Royal Society of Chemistry.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

No required license templates were detected at this file page. Please correct it, or if you have any questions please check my FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Yours sincerely, Jarekt (talk) 13:16, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pinterest[edit]

Hello! Why did you add my image File:Dülmen, Börnste, Kettbach -- 2015 -- 9900.jpg to the Pinterest category? It isn't CC0 or PD and there is no explicit permission. --XRay talk 04:20, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi XRay! Thank you for flagging this! Please accept my sincere apology. I believe that your image has been added to the Wikipedia Pinterest account by mistake. We only intentionally pin PD/CC0 photos and with permission. We have deleted the pin and removed the photo from the Pinterest category. Our social media team will be happy to provide more information about this later today. --Selsharbaty (WMF) (talk) 14:58, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi XRay, I work with User:Selsharbaty (WMF) and manage the social media account for the Foundation. I accidentally pinned your photo while using a different method of searching for PD and CC0 photos on Commons. I'm very sorry. We work very hard to respect the rights of Commons contributors. In several places on our best practices we stipulate that we do not post media that is not either in the public domain, licensed under CC0, or with permission by the author. So I was surprised and disappointed to see your note. I went back through every other pin on that board to make sure they are all PD or CC0, and by the end of the day I will go through all of our pinned photos. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this. It is an issue we take very seriously. Thanks so much. JElder (WMF) (talk) 18:06, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I don't think we should discuss it. Mistakes happen, but it isn't a problem. Social media is difficult to handle due to copyright tasks. I've made a pinterest account and I'm not happy. There are a lot of pictures without permission of the author (not uploaded by a WMF member). Sometimes a link to Wikimedia Commons was given (best way), sometimes to any website. Some people do not respect the authors, but we can't change this behaviour. Unfortunately. --XRay talk 18:38, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Giphy stickers[edit]

Per your description on these files, the author is Idil Keysan, but according to your meta user page, you do not appear to be Idil Keysan. In order to keep these images on Commons, we will need some type of verification that the original author has released them under the license specified. GMGtalk 15:20, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @GreenMeansGo! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you and for the confusion caused here in the first place. My name is Samir Elsharbaty, I work with the Wikimedia Foundation's Communications department. The Giphy stickers uploaded by me recently are the work of the Turkish illustrator Idil Keysan for the benefit of the Wikimedia Foundation. You can read more about this on the Wikimedia Foundation website here. I'm sorry. I had to upload the files as my own work then change the author name and remove the self-published category as Idil is not a Wikimedia user and because the work was directed by our team. Please feel free to ask me more questions about this situation. I will be happy to give more context if needed. Thank you so much for reviewing the media copyrights which is something we appreciate and value and take very seriously too. --Selsharbaty (WMF) (talk) 13:24, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Autopatrolled rights given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you.. - FitIndia Talk Mail 06:46, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:Katherine Maher on the occasion of Wikipedia 20.webm was recently deleted by Túrelio for reasons below. If you disagree with the deletion, you need to file an undeletion request.

Reason for deletion: G9: This is an older version of C:File:Katherine Maher's message on the occasion of Wikipedia 20.webm

It's best to discuss with the administrator who deleted your file before filing an undeletion request. Deletion Notification Bot (talk) 13:58, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, why is File:Wikimedia Brand Guidelines Update 2022 - Photography.svg licensed under CC-BY-SA while File:WP20Symbols CAMERA.svg is under CC0? --Ailura (talk) 07:28, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
