Thanks for uploading File:Swearing In Ceremony for Appeals Court Chief Justice Kafker, 10.5.15.webm. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

PDM[edit]

Hi! It seems you have uploaded more than 1200 files that ended in Category:Flickr public domain images needing specific copyright tags.

The problem is that you added {{PDMark-owner}} and Flickreview bot does not pass that license tag. You should use {{PD-author-FlickrPDM}} instead if you think that Flickr user is the photographer. --MGA73 (talk) 15:12, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will fix them with my bot this time but please use the other license in the future. Example File:2023 LLSWS Opening Ceremony (53096809365).jpg. --MGA73 (talk) 15:21, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Cleveland Museum of Art (51787431984).jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

deleting the same duplicate file for the fourth time[edit]

Hi. Please would you review your uploading practice, especially from Flickr. I am about to delete a duplicate file for the fourth time in three days. So that you see this message and are able to heed the request, I have removed your ability to upload files for 31 hours. We all have better things to do than re-mop the same space repetitively. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:57, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Billinghurst Which file? If it's one from Erik Dost, please hold off on deleting it for a few days. I cannot curate while uploading the Flickr photo album of his that I am uploading through Flickr2Commons. I have to curate after they are on Commons.
Flickr2Commons keeps crashing due to the size of the Flickr album, making it impossible to do it the normal way. SecretName101 (talk) 05:59, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is ~100 files. I have no idea which album it is. Cleaning up afterwards is NOT the way to address this. We need that sort of checking beforehand. The deletion and cleanup process is not so convenient as the upload tools. Lots more rigour is needed in the clean up.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:02, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Billinghurst You create a tool that does not crash on albums in excess of 12,000 files, and then come back to me. If not, please cope. SecretName101 (talk) 06:03, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Special:Log/upload/SecretName101 No! Don't give me that rubbish approach. You don't get a special right to just upload someone else's images. Please check your attitude at the door. Just because they are somewhere else, doesn't mean that they have to be here.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:13, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This album is full of quality images of architecture, sports events, festivals, etc. There's a purpose to my uploading them. Nobody elected you king of this collaborative project, so do not gatekeep other people's contributions. SecretName101 (talk) 06:16, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Billinghurst SERIOUSLY. You put a 31 day block on my account. SERIOUSLY? SecretName101 (talk) 06:17, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please keep a civil tongue. It would appear that you did not actually read what I wrote, so I suggest that you do. AND please don't abuse admins, we have enough work to keep the 100 or so active admins busy compared to all the uploaders.
These images seem to have been uploaded previously, I said that. So please find a way to selectively upload what we need, not bludgeon the place with duplicates; not to create repeat unnecessary work.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:25, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Billinghurst Apologies for being a bit heated. It’s a little late where I am currently at so my somewhat sleepy eyes misread it as 31 days. You can understand why one would see that as an excessive and rash block length.
I just realized it was hours and not days. While I am still disappointed you were so quick to but a block, I am far less offended and shocked at that. SecretName101 (talk) 06:33, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, AND it is only uploads, AND it is a protective measure AND it was time-sensitive. I don't beat up users, and I don't believe that I am unreasonable.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:44, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Billinghurst understood SecretName101 (talk) 14:05, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This blocked user has asked to be unblocked.
Request reason: "I received a block on adding images because Billinghurst felt it disruptive and was unpleased that (as a byproduct of the limitations of Flickr2Commons limitations in uploading large albums), I unintentionally re-uploaded a few files which had duplicates.

If viable alternative ways of uploading the content of this folder to Commons were made known to me, I would have gone about those ways. However, none have been. I never intend to be disruptive in any of my contributions to this project. The album's contents also appear to have been completed in their uploading prior to the block being placed.

I am disheartened that a block was imposed as suddenly as Billinghurst decided to. I do not believe that Billinghurst provided me appropriate warning that they would impose a block for actions, nor engaged in sufficient dialogue with me on how to make the changes I was intending in an alternate matter. We could have resolved this without block.
