Welcome back[edit]

Welcome back Makro Freak ... ehh, I mean Richard. What made you return here? - Alvesgaspar 15:54, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey[edit]

Da hast du nicht zuviel versprochen Bartzie ! Wir sehen uns ;) --Bergwolf 20:22, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No probs. I like doing a bit of detective work ;-) Lycaon 22:37, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Chrysochraon dispar[edit]

Hi! Your picture Image:Chrysochraon dispar Richard Bartz.jpg you took to this category (Category:Chrysochraon dispar), but it was red. I think you may want to create it. I want to remind you, if you create new category you must take a categorytag in the newcategory's page, to make it a subcategory, or it will not be created. In this case I take Category:Caelifera tag to the Category:Chrysochraon dispar, from you picture's other category. Is it the correct category to the Chrysochraon dispar? I ask you makes categorizes with this mode at next time. --Beyond silence 13:22, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

C. cautum[edit]

NO, no, no! It is correct like this. I had the caudum version removed 23:18, 10 August 2007 D-Kuru (Talk | contribs) deleted "Image:Chrysotoxum caudum Richard Bartz.jpg" (badname - now Image:Chrysotoxum cautum Richard Bartz.jpg) ;-)) Lycaon 23:06, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help, but no help ;-([edit]

Hi Richard, I'd like to but I'm not qualified. Actually it is a late nymph of a pentatomid bug. The closest I get (and in this case probably sufficient as id) is the family: Pentatomidae. Lycaon 15:57, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The green one is most probably a nymph of Palomena prasina, and even the Coreus is still a nymph (no developed wings yet). Sexing of nymphs is not possible. Regards. Lycaon 16:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

question[edit]

Hello, Richard, I'd like yo ask you a question please. Have you ever nominated one of your images on wikipedia fp and if not, why not? Thank you.--Mbz1 00:35, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Mbz1[reply]

Image:Palomena prasina nymph Richard Bartz.jpg[edit]

Image:Palomena prasina nymph Richard Bartz.jpg is in a red category! Can you fix it? Thanks --Beyond silence 03:37, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FP Promotion[edit]

Braconid wasp[edit]

Hi Richard. I think you're correct with the genus Coeloides. As for the species, I'm not convinced: Coeloides bostrichorum tends to have bi-coloured legs (orange proximally, black distally), but I don't know if that is a determining characteristic. I would for now stick to Coeloides sp., which for a Braconid is already quite an achievement ;-). Lycaon 09:23, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your portfolio[edit]

Richard,

I've just looked with some care at the pictures in your new portfolio. Well, I was impressed, for sure that Makro Freak time will still last for a longtime (including this hot summer). The pic I like more is this one. - Alvesgaspar 23:01, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Distel und bienen Richard Bartz temp.jpg[edit]

Can your write an English description? --Beyond silence 11:06, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unknown hoverfly[edit]

Hi Richard,

I'm having trouble with the id of this little fellow. Lycaon suggested Chrysotoxum sp. but I can't find the right species. The strange thing is the shape of the antenae, different from all hoverflies I have seen. - Alvesgaspar 14:13, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, this problem has been solved (Ceriana conopsoides), no need to go to church ;-)) Lycaon 18:00, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But the antennas are very interesting. indeed --Richard Bartz 18:53, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, I had an edit conflict with Lycaon... I was just saying that because I'm not religious I'll have to trust the site...and the friends. Anyway I can't understand why I couldn't see immediately it was a Ceriana conopsoides... - Alvesgaspar 18:05, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dolichomitus imperator[edit]

". I'd suggest to call it Dolichomitus cf. imperator, which means: it looks a lot like Dolichomitus imperator, but the identification has not been confirmed (by a taxonomist). Lycaon 17:59, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Maybe a good idea :)[edit]

Thank you very much, Richard. It is really nice of you to offer your help and your time to me.--Mbz1 02:29, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Mbz1[reply]

Re: Lens[edit]

Hey Richard, thanks for the reply. I was interested in the actual model of the lens you used. Was it this one? Thanks, Dori | Talk 02:44, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice[edit]

Thanks for the advice about sticking the bugs in the refrigerator; my cricket showed up again, and this time I was ready. I wish I had gotten a chance to take more shots, but he thawed after only three pictures; I lost him. Thanks for the tip though - he was quite subdued while chilled. Image Cincindela hybrida[edit]

Dear Richard, the second version is a fantastic macro picture (DoF, sharpness...), and the composition is much better indeed. But the colors seem to be a little bit washed out - or am I wrong? Mit herzlichem Gruß. -- MJJR 21:01, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neues Bikd[edit]

Weißt du was genaueres?

Schwieriges Thema... --AngMoKio 20:33, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

enWP[edit]

Dear Alvesgaspar, i have a question about the voting rules on the enWP. How many support you need to become a FP on enWP? On this poll i counted just 4 support votes but the picture gone featured. What do you think ? Best regards --Richard Bartz 13:44, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, I counted 3 support and 2 oppose votes for the promoted picture. According to the rules (in the begining of the FPC page), it is necessary 4 support votes, and the picture should stay in the page for "about" 7 days. In the present case, it stayed less than 6. I wrote a comment on the FPC talk page - Alvesgaspar 14:07, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Good morning Richard, do you mind to take a look at the discussion page of enWP? This time, I think they went to far. But the chances are the pedantism of the place will again prevail if I am left alone. Alvesgaspar 08:12, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Remembering old things[edit]

Dear Richard,
I always remember this nomination and this our discussion and it always makes me smile. It also shows that I cannot behave properly and my boldness (should I call it "impoliteness") is insulting other people. I really do not want to insult anybody else. The truth is that yes, I'm a sloppy photographer. I'm too lazy to work at the picture. I'm using tripod only for my night shots. I do not use a row mode because it takes more time to process an image. I like to take interesting and unusual images, but the quality of my images are not FP. I'm still here, I visit Commons every day and I look at the nominations. I just do not vote and do not nominate myself. I could promise to you that, if I took a picture of an alien ship with the aliens looking out of the windows, I'll be sure to nominate it on Commons. Thank you very much for everything, Richard. Thank you that you are here. Best regards. Mila--Mbz1 15:39, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Thanks Richard, your welcome to pick one you think would fair better at FP. Yeah I do get a little emotional about some images, this one was hard to take I hate snake but still laid dowon in front of this three meter monster to take the pict. Any I actually sold similar images of the snake elsewhere so the comment I got here really seam extreme, I still dont understand the it all out out of focus comments Gnangarra 01:39, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My remark about being bored[edit]

Hi Richard, I saw you had replied on my comment where I mentioned being bored about FPCs concerning insect on flower photos. I wanted to reply you there, but unfortunately I think there is some kind of error in the link, so I do not quite understand, which subpage it belongs to. Anyway, I would like to comment on what I wrote. I agree with you that a professionel reviewer should not have a negative opion about a photo a priori even if it is the 10000th regarding the subject. In that case he should not review it. The reason why I did not want to review the photo was two-fold; first I do not feel very competent at reviewing the insect related photos, I am simply not experienced enough and a good enough reviewer to give qualified feedback on most of them. Thus, I normally do not review insect macro photos. Secondly I must admit that I have seen enough of these kind of images for a while which is my second reason for not wanting to review it, because I realize I would be inclined to have a negative opinion regarding the photo, a bias which would neither be fair nor professional. My error is of course that I wrote this explicitly and this is tactless towards you, the contributor. For that I apologize. I should have kept that for myself as the photo does not deserve such a comment. The reason why I asked the question about the location was just that I thought it could improve the value of the image page. I had no other intentions than that. -- Slaunger 22:16, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have copied my comment to the talk now that the link is fixed. -- Slaunger 05:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POTD[edit]

When seeing the POTD, I am glad I changed my mind about it's nomination and supported it back then. It is delightful to see that vulture again! When are you coming back? It is dull here without your participation. I even occasionally review insect/flower photos favorably now. I had a good laugh reading your vivisected frog comment - especially after following the link. What a twisted and strange site. Cheers -- Slaunger 09:38, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really have to work hard right now for earning a endless amount of time during the spring/summertime 2008 to follow my addiction for macro photography, and as you know hanging around in the fp-candidate-list is very very very time consuming. Right now i preparing new interesting techniques and spent many of my second quality pictures to this nice site instead of Wikipedia because its the first and professional adress for insect pictures, especially flies (which i love the most).
Thank you for the compliment on the voulture ! Regards, --Richard Bartz 14:08, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
At least nice to know that you plan to "fly" back to Commons during the spring/summertime of 2008. I though you had completely given up on Commons as judged from the last comments you posted on FPC. Until then, take care. Oh, and you do not have to copy threads to my talk page, I always watch talk pages when relevant). -- Slaunger 14:22, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're right at least i had a slight frustration and a enlighting understanding about a user which was very usefull to snatch me off from FP which was overdue for a long time ! ! !  ;) --Richard Bartz 14:32, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
