It's not a copyright! it's my own work! :([edit]

How is it copyrighted?? can you explain it's my own work! I made the creation and took a screenshot! I am very confused this is my own work! Please stop deleting my images I took a screenshot! Stop! BloxyColaSweet (talk) 22:43, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BloxyColaSweet. Thanks for reaching out, I'm sorry this is a bit confusing. The gist is that anything on the internet—even if you take a screenshot of it—is copyrighted. This includes screenshots of videos games such as Roblox—even if the character pictured is yours in game, its copyright is still owned by Roblox. Hopefully this clarifies things—please let me know if you have any further questions. Perryprog (talk) 22:46, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for making things even clearer! i have been bombarded with messages that keeps on shouting at me that its copied :/ BloxyColaSweet (talk) 22:49, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
BloxyColaSweet, yeah, Wikipedia's ridiculously large amount of policy often results in huge walls of text of "HERE'S EVERYTHING YOU DID WRONG" with every other word linked to a separate policy page... it's absolutely a bit overkill at times. Hopefully you understand that it's not really targeted "at" you, if that makes any sense. Perryprog (talk) 22:51, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Again, Just asking... If anything in the internet you took is copyright, if you took a screenshot of the white plain border, does it still count as copyright? BloxyColaSweet (talk) 11:52, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
BloxyColaSweet, while it can depend, generally no. That's due to a concept called de minimis, which for this circumstance just means that works created solely out of plain geometric shapes is not eligible for copyright protection. Perryprog (talk) 12:51, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Really intrestng to know. BloxyColaSweet (talk) 22:11, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
