There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Re: ROM Chinese Gallery Pictures

Am glad you like the pics I have posted! The Ancient Egyptian materials are something of a specialty for me, and I have just come back from doing a photo shoot on a collection of those antiquities in California for a magazine in the UK.

Actually, when I took the pictures that you reference that gallery had *just* been opened and there was no accompanying text to indicate what time period they were from. I may be heading back to that museum over the weekend, and will note any information on those that may have since been added.

Are you looking to illustrate anything else in particular? By reputation the ROM has one of the best collections of Chinese artifacts in North America; see: http://www.rom.on.ca/exhibitions/wculture/index.php. If there's anything else you are looking for to illustrate an article, I can make a point of trying to get an appropriate picture of it.

Cheers!

Captmondo 16:41, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

It took longer than I originally anticipated to return there, but I have now added full descriptions to the "Hell's Judges" figurines you asked about (Image:ROM-ChineseGallery-DemonSculpture.png, Image:ROM-JudgeFigurine-ChineseGallery.png, and Image:ROM-JudgeFigurines-ChineseGallery.png). I also managed to take a number of pictures of other items in the Chinese galleries at the ROM, which I intend to post over the next few days (including bits from the Han period, as requested).
I will be heading to Beijing and Shanghai on business starting next week (my first time in Asia) and if there are any other articles you would like illustrated, please let me know!
Cheers! Captmondo 08:29, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Just so you know, I have uploaded a few of the better images I took earlier in the month on a visit to the ROM, a few from the time of the Han, and also including some much earlier pieces. You can find them all here in a new category I created for the gallery space: Category:Joey and Toby Tanenbaum Gallery of China at the Royal Ontario Museum (odd, can't figure out how to link a category inline...) Hope you find some of them useful.
Cheers! Captmondo 15:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Wanli

Kalimera,

the person who complained about the meager information on Image:Imperiestro-Ŭan-Li.jpg is right - I was quite new to wikipedia in octobre 2006 and the statement "source: german wikipedia", without even mentioning where to find the image there, really isn't enough. I had to look for a while to refind the picture in the german wikipedia, but succeeded, and now provided as much information as I can. More about the image could only say the original german uploader.

Sincerely

Thank you Eric. I'm proud to see my picture of Tashilhunpo Monastery in that amazing article. --LucaG 22:12, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Northern Song Dynasty

I think I only placed one picture in that category, and this picture showed a tapestry from the 10th or 11th century. I can see the category may be somewhat redundant to Category:Art of the Song Dynasty, though. Yaan (talk) 13:53, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Over-categorization

The category Ceramics of the Song Dynasty is already a subcategory of Art of the Song Dynasty. Putting images already in the former into the latter is over-categorization, so I reverted your edits to the images of the ceramics I took. --BrokenSphere 17:42, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Image improvement

I requested the French graphic lab to improve these 4 images, They did it, and I uploaded the new improved images over the original. I come here just to notice you this overwriting, and also to notice you that you always have this prossibility (see the English Graphic Lab). Full background clean ups are also possible... when the author his requesting it himself.

Last note: If you need such clean ups, you can ask to the graphic labs or to me as well,

OTRS Step 1 complete

I have replaced the No Permission template with {{OTRS pending}}. You will soon receive an email after a volunteer reads the message. When verified, you will recieve a ticket ID. Input it into {{PermissionOTRS}} when you get it, and its done. ViperSnake151 (talk) 00:23, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Chinese art photos

Hi! I see you have uploaded some very interesting bronze art photos from this link http://www.garyleetodd.com/chinese-museums-online/national-museum-beijing/ onto the Commons. Is there anyway that you could upload more of the ancient artefacts from the Shang, Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties from this link onto the Commons? Thanks!--HéctorTabaré (talk) 23:37, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

OTRS permission

Hello. Months ago in October 2008 when I downloaded File:Gold animals.JPG, someone brought up the fact that I needed to clear up the copyright issue with OTRS through email. This was left on my talk page months ago:

I have replaced the No Permission template with {{OTRS pending}}. You will soon receive an email after a volunteer reads the message. When verified, you will recieve a ticket ID. Input it into {{PermissionOTRS}} when you get it, and its done. ViperSnake151 (talk) 00:23, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

As written in the email (Ticket#2008102110031143) to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, Professor Gary Lee Todd (Professor of History, Sias International University, Xinzheng, Henan, China, his account here being User talk:Leefoxx1949, the same as his email at XX@XXX) gave me explicit and blanket permission to upload any of the over 11,500 photos from his website. I was wondering if I could use the same ticket for these pics that I have already uploaded from his site (and therefore are still pending OTRS permission...I think):

If you or someone else could clear this up, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.--PericlesofAthens (talk) 22:44, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Why me ? ... :p
Hello
Thanks by advance to use the «show preview» function in order to avoid to spam my talk page...
When you have a massive permission, it should be useful to think about a suitable procedure instead of tinking an unsatisfactory solution.
Please remind that only OTRS volonteers, who can check the email in OTRS, are authorized to put the {{PermissionOTRS}}. A such edit (with an incorrect syntax) is not acceptable (and you could wait my answer...). Moreover, there is no worth puting an unclear sentence «I have contacted Professor Gary Lee Todd at X@X and he has given me explicit permission via email to use pictures from his site for Wikimedia Commons.», which not specify a suitably free license. And I don't think that Professeur Todd will be entranced to be spammed by your fault...
So I created the {{Gary Lee Todd permission}} template, which give all the details need. I also created the category Photographs by Gary Lee Todd.
I put the template on the 3 pictures uploaded by Leefoxx1949
We should do the same on ALL the picture you have uploaded here... Like that :
  1. Remove {{PermissionOTRS}} template.
  2. Remove the unclear sentence in order to put the {{Gary Lee Todd permission}} template.
  3. Verify that the license is one of the license mentionned on {{Gary Lee Todd permission}}
  4. By the way, add the template {{En}} to specify the language of the description...
I can do it, but if you could clear this up, it would be greatly appreciated. :p
--Bapti 10:02, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Awesome! I like the template you created. Thank you very much. I will add that to all the pictures, but it's going to take a while!--PericlesofAthens (talk) 22:19, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok, but please respect the permission : you can upload pictures of http://www.garyleetodd.com/, not of http://picasaweb.google.com/GaryLeeTodd/
And by the way, please add the template {{En}} to specify the language of the description...--Bapti 19:21, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I'll fix the links. Also, thanks for reminding me about the "en" thing for english.--PericlesofAthens (talk) 10:19, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
O.o. Please respect the permission : you can upload pictures of http://www.garyleetodd.com/, not of http://picasaweb.google.com/GaryLeeTodd/
This edit is not acceptable : you say that the file is on http://www.garyleetodd.com/chinese-museums-online/china-ancient-coinage/ but it is in fact on http://picasaweb.google.com/GaryLeeTodd/ChinaAncientCoinage#. So the template {{No source since}} may be add to all this pictures...
Is there is no file on http://www.garyleetodd.com/, please ask to Gary Lee Todd to extend his permission {{Gary Lee Todd permission}} to the files on http://picasaweb.google.com/GaryLeeTodd/. I think it's the best way to clear up the misunderstanding.--Bapti 19:02, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok. So should I have Gary Lee Todd send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org? And if so, are you the one who is going to read it? I don't know how the whole archiving system works with Commons and OTRS volunteers, but I'll have him send a message to the commons email I just mentioned.--PericlesofAthens (talk) 01:23, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I sent Gary Lee Todd a message. He usually gets back to me within a day, so permissions-commons@wikimedia.org should receive a message from him shortly. Cheers.--PericlesofAthens (talk) 01:35, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Gary Lee Todd just informed me that he has sent an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and explicitly stated that I am allowed to upload pics from GaryLeeTodd.com and picasaweb; you should be able to see the email now and update the template.--PericlesofAthens (talk) 02:42, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I just got an email from X of Wiki Commons saying that the new OTRS permission tag for Gary Lee Todd photos should now be {{PermissionOTRS|ticket=https://ticket.wikimedia.org/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketZoom&TicketID=2589494}} with Ticket #2009031110004042. Should you modify Template:Gary Lee Todd permission to reflect this change?--PericlesofAthens (talk) 19:22, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
It's OK ;) I have merged the tickets in OTRS and I have modified the template.
By my fault, there is some work to do in order to give the real source of the picture :( Could you clear this up ? There is also some {{PermissionOTRS}} template and unclear sentence to remove in order to put the {{Gary Lee Todd permission}} template.
Cheers.--Bapti 20:01, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
PS : Please not write here the name of an OTRS volonteer...
