Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open[edit]

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

Bonjour Yann, j'ai lu ce texte (Je ne suis pas anglophone, désolé (pour ce qui est de la coutrtoisie...), et je suis resté courtois dans le sens, ou, moi, j'ai expliqué ma position dans la langue de mes interlocuteurs. Le dauphin bleu est ancien. Mais la question n'est plus là et devient : comment peut-on supprimer une image sans même (se) poser la question ? On tire d'abord et on discute ensuite ! Pour ce qui est des arrêts de bus, il y en a un certain nombre, il faut alors tous les supprimer, ou tous les conserver. Courtoisement. - C'est moi (talk) 05:32, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Alors, je souhaite connaitre la procédure pour demander la supression d'une photo quand je vois une violation de droits d'auteur quand j'en suppose une : un arbre taillé, un animal en cage....... Le dauphin bleu a été supprimé, paix à son âme, il falait réfléchir avant de tirer. J'ai indiqué la manière de vérifier son âge, personne ne s'en est donné la peine, ..... Exemple : il y a là une violation potentielle du droit d'auteur : [3] Il me semblerait logique de demander à l'auteur de la photo d'apporter toutes les preuves du fait que le tailleur l'a autorisé à publier son oeuvre. Re-bonjour @Racconish: j'ai trouvé en français dans wikipédia, au sujet de la liberté de panorama, la phrase suivante en français dans le chapitre principe de base : "L'article 2-1 de la convention de Berne (signée le 9 septembre 1886) cite explicitement les « œuvres d'architecture, de sculpture » comme relevant de son application.". Il ne faudrait pas faire dire au textes ce qu'ils ne disent pas. Ce panneau n'est ni une sculpture ni une oeuvre architecturale. Il n'est donc pas concerné. Cette photo mérite donc d'être restaurée. Par ailleurs, les textes en français me sembleraient utilisables. Il me semble nécessaire d'envisager la traduction de tous ces textes dans toutes les langues des utilisateurs, tâche à laquelle je pense m'atteler si je trouve un traducteur automatique performant, n'étant pas polyglotte. Le monopole attribué à une seule langue dans wikimédia me semble être en opposition à la volonté d'un accès plus facile à la culture et à sa diffusion puisqu'elle limite de fait une parfaite compréhension du fonctionnement tous ceux qui ne pratiquent pas cette langue exclusive. Toutes les créations originales éligibles en droit français à la protection du droit d'auteur sont affectées. En revanche, il existe une exception au titre de l'article L. 122-5 11° du CPI pour certaines œuvres architecturales et sculpturales, sous réserve d'une prohibition d'usage commercial, elle-même incompatible avec les licences demandées sur Commons. Racconish, ce panneau a été créé dans l'illégalité, il est en effet illégal de tromper les usagers par des indications fausses, il n'est donc pas protégé (Cour de Cassation - Le 28 septembre 1999). C'est déjà fait. Les curieux arguments ne sont pas les miens, mais ceux qui conduisent à une interprétation manifestement excessive et même contraire aux textes. Je vais très prochainement réinjecter une image de cette veine sur commons, je t'en tiendrai informé, à toutes fins utiles. Parce que, pour ce qui me concerne, je ne vais pas en rester là (évidemment dans le respect absolu des règles et en toute courtoisie). The file was deleted due to missing educational value. By principle, you can request undeletion in COM:UDEL explaining, what kind of educational value the image has.

Bonjour @Racconish: . Merci pour l'info ! Reconnais tout de même qu'il aurait été dommage de ne pas faire cette photo. Si c'est le logo qui te poses problème (What else ?), je vais le flouter, je pense que tu sera d'accord avec moi pour convenir que le texte PINAR est anodin.

Dans un autre ordre d'idée, je t'avais indiqué une photo dans la catégorie Vandoeuvre-les-Nancy qui semblait ne pas respecter le droit d'auteur, et elle a été supprimée, mais dans cette catégorie, il y a au moins la moitié des photos pour lesquelles il faut sérieusement se poser des questions au niveau des droits d'auteurs! J'ai lu l'article relatif à la commune de Cergy, on y voit une photo de Port Cergy, pastiche d'architecture "ancienne" de François Spoerry datant de la fin des années 1980 ([4]), et on lit qu'il s'agit d'un travail personnel, serait-ce lui qui aurait déposé la photo sur commons à la fin des années 90 du siècle dernier ? Ses héritiers auraient-ils donné leur accord ? Et des exemples comme ça, il y en a des centaines (que dis-je, ......), par exemple : Tour des archives - Rouen.jpg; Entrée gare Part-Dieu Lyon.JPG; Eglise Saint-Martin (Montpellier).JPG; Plan d'Eau.jpg; Biopole Rennes Atalante Champeaux.JPG; Conseil régional des Pays de la Loire, Nantes.JPG; Bordeaux victor hugo 01.jpg; Archives départementales.jpg; Centre Jaude II.jpg; Centre Saint-Martial Limoges.JPG; INRS Nancy 2018.jpg; pour faire un rapide tour de France de quelques unes des plus grandes villes. Un tel laxisme est étonnant ! Manque de bras pour faire la purge ? Manque de volonté ? Je lis par ci par là que Wikimédia a des sous pour financer des projets, peut-être qu'un des projets pourrait être d'acheter des droits sur des images ? Il est en effet étonnant qu'un article comme Marne-la-Vallée ne comporte que des photos d'immeubles anciens alors qu'il s'agit d'une ville nouvelle et que l'article n'en reflète rien ? Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition.
