Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Nice work![edit]

I was JUST about to upload When Knighthood Was in Flower from the same source. Nice work beating me to it on the same day. :) SDudley (talk) 02:45, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Please stop uploading silent films incorporating a soundtrack which is still copyrighted, as you did for File:The Viking (1928).webm, File:The Better 'Ole (1926).webm, File:Hitting the Trail (1927).webm, File:Whales Everywhere (1927).webm, File:North of Nowhere (1927).webm, or File:The Last Warning (1928).webm. — Racconish💬 07:41, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I thought that since "The Viking" and "The Better 'Ole" were originally released with a soundtrack, they were all in the public domain. But I won't argue. OGPawlis (talk) 11:08, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Same for File:Alice in Wonderland (1915).webm. — Racconish💬 11:46, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also please remove my first version File:Hungry Hoboes (1928) silent.webm. Then I forgot to provide a version without sound and I reuploaded the correct one. OGPawlis (talk) 11:50, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done. Same for File:Robin Hood (1912) - Full Movie.webm. — Racconish💬 12:30, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merging movies[edit]

Hi, Do not request merging movies when the length is different, i.e. File:La Souriante Madame Beudet.webm and File:La Souriante Madame Beudet (1923).webm. Yann (talk) 08:33, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And File:Algol, Tragödie der Macht (1920).webm should not be merged too. I have a high resolution version, but I can't upload it now. Yann (talk) 08:35, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I got it. OGPawlis (talk) 12:39, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning La Souriante Madame Beudet, once again, please stop uploading silent films with a copyrighted soundtrack. Thanks, — Racconish💬 11:43, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my. I thought I had muted the sound in the video editor, because it's actually a new soundtrack (that's what it's like when you upload it late at night). Then I would like to ask you to remove the soundtrack. Humanum errare est.
Thanks OGPawlis (talk) 12:45, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Abwege (1928).webm. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Please add a "Videos of films from {year}" category to your movie uploads[edit]

Thanks for uploading public domain films to Wikimedia Commons. I've been putting your uploads into subcategories of Category:Videos of films by year. Could you please do that on your own if it's a full-length film? For example adding a cat like "Category:Videos of films from 1917" at the time of upload or right after to uploads like File:Wolf Lowry (1917).webm. Watermarks[edit]

Noticed your upload of the Color ballet scene of Phantom had the watermarks from the source removed, which is great but the aspect ratio is pillarboxxed, which looks worse in the video player as the image seems windowboxed.

In the meantime, can you help me in getting rid of the watermark for the Fantasia trailer? --Mayimbú (talk) 01:10, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a Wikimedia gadget where you can remove pillarbox (which also irritates me)?
As for Fantasia, there is the Wondershare AnyEraser program. I used the trial version at the time for Phantom, but now I don't have any (I only used it once for this file). OGPawlis (talk) 12:45, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
