Thanks for uploading File:Grand Trunk Western 5632.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

FYI, both those images have Creative Commons licenses that do not allow commercial use. Non-commercial and/or non-derivative licenses are not accepted on Commons.
A simple way to avoid uploading incompatible files from Flickr is using Upload Wizard and pasting the Flickr link. That way, you're only uploading images with free licenses and avoid the hassle of uploading an unfree image that will be deleted anyway. Using this method also lets you upload directly from Flickr without having to download the image to your device, and fills out all the file info automatically. File:GWR 3901 Class No. 3902.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category

[edit]

When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:01 240. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion). I didn’t realized that i haven’t done the copyright tag finished, the picture is somewhere after the grouping (Aka after 1923) so i don’t think its copyrighted anymore. Mr Mines Engine (talk) 18:40, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A few things about Commons:Deletion requests/Commons:Deletion requests/User:Consist4q that you created:

  1. It's not obvious that there's anything wrong with the image. Yes, it's marked all rights reserved on Flickr and missing a proper license, but the photo appears old enough that the copyright has expired.
  2. It's helpful to link to the Commons file in question. I did some digging and I think File:LSWR T6 4-4-0.png is what you have an issue with. If that's the case, it looks like you've forgotten to notify the user. When there's a licensing problem with a file, it's often a mistake made in good faith. Please make sure you notify the user so they can correct the mistake.
  3. Commons:Deletion requests/Commons:Deletion requests/User:Consist4q does not link anywhere and is not listed anywhere, so no user -admin or the uploader - will ever see it. Please follow the directions at Commons:Deletion_requests#Starting_requests.
  4. A deletion request is not the place to ask for blocks and bans. Politely let the uploader know what they're doing wrong (in this case, not linking to the source, not providing verifiable source information or license). If the pattern persists, then you can bring it to COM:ANI.

Thank you. Adeletron 3030 (talk) 16:16, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry just didn’t wanted to have copyrighted images here, by the way does this counts as copyrighted File:Papyrus, the A3 that went 108MPH at King's Cross Station, 05 March 1935.jpg? Mr Mines Engine (talk) 17:21, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly. If we know the photographer, then it's copyrighted for 70 years after the date of death. If it's anonymous work, then the copyright expires 70 years after publishing (so we should be clear). But I would not delete the license if you're unsure - start a deletion discussion instead.
