Thanks for linking Flickr upload bot, and I apologise for this mistake, probably I did not noticed the license, as the same author had licensed lot of his images under commons. Will take care for another uploads. Regards :)--Omer123hussain (talk) 07:34, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

This DR

Someone made a response to the DR you launched. It seems one part of the image (the placard) has a derivative image in it. But for the TV screens, its hard to say if the image in it is identifiable. So, I decided to not make a comment here...so you understand. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:41, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Please Help Me

Good day to you ! :)

I want to update Sinhalese People Montage Uploaded by my couple of weeks back, but I don't No how to do it.
Here this is it -> http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sinhalese_People.png
I know it is possible to update the file,I got to know that after seeing the Japanese People Montage.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Japanese_People.jpg

Please explain me how to do that,Thanks in advance. MediaJet talk 17:15, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

I think you could do it by Paint or another image editing software. Just replace old images with new ones by using Copy, Cut, Paste tool I'm not an expert of this so that's what I know. Regards--Morning (talk) 15:42, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

No No that's not the problem I am having,I know how to edit it ;),What I want to know is How to Upload a new version of the same file under the same page (with the same name),I cant see an option for that in Wikimedia Commons but I know it is possible because I saw it in Japanese People Montage WC page.MediaJet talk 17:38, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Oh, that's not a problem. Click Upload a new version of this file under File history section and select your desired image on the local computer. If there are any other problems, post your questions on COM:AN or ask Rillke or Fastily for technical matters. Regards--Morning (talk) 05:19, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Good Day to you admin !!

Ha Ha,Day before yesterday Upload a new version of this file option was NOT visible all of sudden now its there,Earlier I saw something like this > You cannot overwrite this file that's why I thought to ask this from you.Now It's Done :)
Thanks for your support. MediaJet talk 09:13, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Rename assistance

Morning Sunshine, thank you for renaming Old Burial Ground Halifax.jpg, unfortunately you got to it rather quickly, and I believe I may have mashed up the now redirecting page with an updated version of this photo, submitted immediately after your rename. Not sure if this requires some kind of correction, either way I think it is out of my control at this point. My apologies, my mistake, I should have waited or requested rename after the update, but like I said you got to it quicker than I anticipated. I will add the updated photo to the new file name, at least. WarBaCoN (talk) 04:05, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

You mean the use of old name in other wikis? User:CommonsDelinker will do that, don't worry--Morning (talk) 04:07, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
No, I mean before you performed the move/redirect, I clicked upload new version, then you renamed, and I completed the upload which was added to the now old redirected page. The old redirected page normally does not have an image attached to it, but now this one does. That probably is not desired and I do not think I can undo this myself. WarBaCoN (talk) 04:12, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
✓ Done I have fixed that--Morning (talk) 04:17, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. WarBaCoN (talk) 04:22, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Adminship

Hi, thanks for your message.

I was just working my way up to asking for filemover status - admin is something i was considering maybe for the future. I recognize that Wikimedia projects generally involve a lot more politics (due to the high ambition:resources ratio and the relative lack of direction from the top). I say this only in comparison to other voluntary projects I have worked on (I've done paid and unpaid work for charitable organizations).

I'd gladly take an admin position, but my concern is that perhaps more people should be familiar with me before doing so. I understand it's a community decision and I haven't been here very long (despite making a large number of edits without stepping on anyone's toes). However it would allow me to help out more where there are backlogs. I've spent time at COM:DR and COM:CFD to the extent that I understand copyright, Commons licensing and the category system quite well. I think the hardest thing I've had to learn is to be less sarcastic - to keep in mind the multicultural nature of the project and that some jokes do not travel well :)

Cheers, moogsi (blah) 21:33, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

So you agree? I will make the nomination--Morning (talk) 03:51, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

Good day to you admin :) !!

Please Rename this file as King Bathikabhaya the name given in the source is Incorrect. There was a King named Bhatika Tissa but he was ruling from 137 AD to 161 AD and this is Not him. This person was ruling from 19 BC/20 BC to 8 AD.

Import a gadget

I propose to import a gadget in Commons. It is a clock that shows the local time of user's computer. The gadget is this es:MediaWiki:Gadget-LocalLiveClock.js. I already know UTCLiveClock, but this gadget is better because use work with personal time of every user (UTC+1, UTC+6, UTC-5, ...) Can you import this gadget? --Vivaelcelta {discussion  · contributions} 12:53, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

✓ Done, it's here. Thank you--Morning (talk) 15:35, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. But you must add it here, please add it below "UTCLiveClock".
* LocalLiveClock [ResourceLoader]|LocalLiveClock.js

And you must create MediaWiki:Gadget-LocalLiveClock with this text:

{{gadget-desc|self=MediaWiki:Gadget-LocalLiveClock|name=LocalLiveClock|A clock in the personal toolbar that shows the current time of the user's computer, and provides a [[w:Wikipedia:Purge|purge]] link.}}

And translate into Vietnamese in MediaWiki:Gadget-LocalLiveClock/vi. --Vivaelcelta {discussion  · contributions} 07:28, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

✓ Done all above--Morning (talk) 16:29, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, but you must add it here MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition with the next code for it appears in Preferences > Gadgets, please add it below of other gadget "UTCLiveClock".
* LocalLiveClock [ResourceLoader]|LocalLiveClock.js

In this page MediaWiki:Gadget-LocalLiveClock/vi there is an error, you must change self=MediaWiki:Gadget-LocalLiveClock by self=MediaWiki:Gadget-LocalLiveClock/vi.

Regards --Vivaelcelta {talk  · contributions} 08:12, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

I think the clock should simply allow switching the time instead of having two gadgets. Also it should fetch the MediaWiki-server time if possible. -- Rillke(q?) 10:17, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

DelReqHandler issue

FYI - there's a problem right now with DelReqHandler. You'll get an error message

API request failed (internal_api_error_DBQueryError): Database query error

This means that the file or files you clicked [del] on weren't deleted. You have to refresh the page and click the remaining [del] link/s next to the affected images. In today's DRs I deleted 8 or 9 images from DRs that you'd gone thru and closed, but which hadn't been deleted because of this bug/error. See User talk:Rillke/Discuss/2013#DelReqHandler issues. Hopefully it gets taken care of soon. INeverCry 00:31, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Number of uploads

Hi again! Is there a way to see the number of files that a particular user has uploaded to Commons? I'd like like to know how many files I have uploaded so far. Thanks! Nataev (talk) 13:01, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Renaming of Hurricane rainfall maps

Could you please explain, why you'rerenaming those files which have canonical names? Did you check this with w:en:WP:WPTC? Did you take in mind, that this images are also existing with white background and not filled, i.e. only lines delimiting the rainfall zones. Question

Hi! I have contacted an Uzbek actress/singer personally on Facebook to get some photographs. She acted in a film together with one of my old acquaintances and that's why I was able to get in touch with her. She has sent me many very nice photos. She gave me full permission to upload them to Commons. How can I upload them without much hassle? I don't want to E-mail Commons admins because I haven't received a reply for my last E-mail that I sent months ago. Can I just upload the photos as my own work? She sent personal photos that were taken during her long career. They haven't been published anywhere. Nataev (talk) 21:06, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

You can upload them but you can't claim that they are your own work. Instead of that, you should send the permission she gave you to OTRS (read and follow the instruction there carefully). Good luck--Morning (talk) 09:45, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
OK, thanks! Nataev (talk) 13:00, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi! I helped a lady draft and and send an E-mail to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org with three photos of the Uzbek actress Sitora Farmonova attached. She also send the E-mail to me. Will ORTS members upload the photos themselves? If yes, how will I find out when they do? Or can I go ahead and upload them? I'n not sure if ORTS volunteers will locate the photos if I upload them myself. Because the photos in the E-mail are not named properly, they're right from the camera. Thanks! Nataev (talk) 08:38, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Deleted images

This morning you deleted several images, among them File:Black Thunder.jpg. If you need to delete images without discussion, could you provide a more solid explanation so the contributor can make any necessary corrections? There are obviously numerous images of brand products on Wikipedia. What were the Black Thunder images missing? Boneyard90 (talk) 13:16, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

I think you have mentioned wrong file. There's no deletion history at File:Black Thunder.jpg--Morning (talk) 16:16, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps you're right. Please see Commons:Deletion requests/File:Black Thunder.JPG. (Does the "JPG" have to be capitalized? That's probably where I went wrong.) Boneyard90 (talk) 16:25, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I see. That image (along with some others) was deleted because it's a photo of food packages which has copyrighted images and logos on them so they are fair use and obvious copyright violation here--Morning (talk) 16:30, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
Not so obvious, or I wouldn't have uploaded them nor would I be writing you here. As I said, there are numerous photos of brand products (for example, see the article Snickers) Do you have a constructive suggestion as to how I can include the images that are an integral part of the article from which they were removed? Boneyard90 (talk) 17:08, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
Unlike File:Snickers-broken.JPG which shows only the cakes, this image is a product package and has been tagged for fair use on en.wiki. If you wish to use those images like that for an article, please upload them on the wikis that support fair use, not here--Morning (talk) 05:25, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
I see. Thank you. I didn't realize I could upload images directly to the English Wikipedia. Boneyard90 (talk) 19:41, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Moving Flag of Cote d'Ivoire

Hi, you moved http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Cote_d%27Ivoire.svg to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_C%C3%B4te_d%27Ivoire.svg but did not edit Template:Country data Côte d'Ivoire to reflect the change. Now every page that uses flagicon template for CIV (and there's many thousands) has a broken image in it. Country data templates are only editable by admins, so if you work with some admins, can you please drop them a message to edit that template?

Cheers

Geregen2 (talk) 19:21, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

What template are you mentioning about? And User:CommonsDelinker should have done that if it doesn't have problem now--Morning (talk) 05:28, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
This was fixed today, I guess. -- Rillke(q?) 07:51, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
That was a bad rename. "Cote d'Ivoire" is correct, really no reason to rename it. Judging from your logs you have loads of questionable renames. Could you please be much much more conservative while doing renames? It's a painful process and we have these rules to restrict it for a reason. Multichill (talk) 10:49, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Hello could you tell me some of them. I don't have much complaint about my actions but I'm ready to hear. And I see some of other filemovers like Courcelles or Bill william compton sometimes do the same thing--Morning (talk) 11:20, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello Morning Sunshine, if you move an important flag like this one, please inform the CommonsDelinker to fix it globaly. More than 10,000 file uses are now broken file links. I'll fix it at the Afrikaans Wikipedia now, but not in more than 200 other projects... Best regards, -- JCIV (talk) 10:40, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Nominating for deletion for picture Bollywood Hungama

Hello Morning Sunshine, I do not know how this User nominated these images [1], [2], [3], for deletion, These pictures belong to site Bollywood Hungama, Under the Ticket (ticket #2008030310010794). There are many images like her in this category. And we see that there is no need to delete. That deleted these images should be delete all the images in this category. Because they are all from the same Web site. Please give us your opinion here. Kind Regards. MyCanon () 18:58, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Deleted Image José Cura

Hello

You have deleted an image in an article I have been working on for quite some time. This image is José_Cura_Samson_1996.jpg and the reason you have given is because: Per commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:José Cura Samson 1996.jpg.

I have indicated that the rights are held by Cuibar, José Cura's management company - the photo is of the artist - Cuibar have made it publicly available on their Flickr page - this does not cause a conflict with any of Wikipedia's guidelines apart from a "suspected" Flickr image license laundering, of which there is none - this was flagged by user Vesprinos.

Now if you see a way for me to prove this any further, please do tell me of it - I am left wondering how you go about doing this in a community where suspicion equals confirmation.

Thank you.

ManukaFonsworth (talk) 10:24, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

What you need to do is reading Commons:OTRS carefully. Then tell the author to send the permission of the image to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org (Declaration_of_consent is recommended). Regards--Morning (talk) 10:28, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you Morning Sunshine. Wikipedia can be confusing to newcomers like me. I have contacted Cuibar so they can email permissions-commons with the necessary standard permission form. Hopefully this will solve the issue. ManukaFonsworth (talk) 11:25, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Hallo Morning Sunshine,

perhaps you can controll the categories for this book. I removed it from Category:Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities (DR), which I have renamed into Category:Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities by William Smith to make the content clear. And this file is certainly not about the Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities by William Smith. Thank you for your help.––Oursana (talk) 11:26, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Proper nomination or gaming the system?

Hello, Morning.

Sorry to bother you but I think this page might need attention: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Windows 3.1 logo.svg. You close a DR and within ten days it is renominated for the same reason by an IP user? Sounds like a bit of gaming the system to me. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 05:30, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi,

I have removed the OTRS permission to this image because the permission provided was sent through a gmail account and not through the company which holds the permission to the image. Hello, I think you forgot to delete the following pictures: File:DisneyChannelDaytimeHD2014.png and File:Disney-Channel-Logo-2014.png. They were part of the Deletion request. --Mega-buses (talk) 15:08, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Not copyright violations

Hello,

You deleted several files taken from http://www.copa2014.gov.br/pt-br/noticia/costa-rica-surpreende-e-derrota-o-uruguai-no-castelao, but it was not copyright violation. Only the first image from the webpage is from Getty Images, not all of them. The images on the galleries were taken by Danilo Borges/Portal da Copa and the footer of the website says that "All the content on this site are published under the Creative Commons 3.0 Brasil License".

You also deleted files from FIFA World Cup 2014 Opening Ceremony, but they are from Portal da Copa too, not from Getty Images. And "Bernard_Brazil_2013.jpg" was taken from http://www.ebc.com.br/esportes/2013/09/brasil-goleia-australia-6-x-0, and made by Portal EBC. The footer also says it's Creative Commons.

Morning Sunshine, you are wrongly deleted files (f. e.). Stop it and restore, please. See also: Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Uruguay and Costa Rica match at the FIFA World Cup 2014-06-14. --sasha (krassotkin) 19:09, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

P.S. This is an urgent matter. Look what you did. --sasha (krassotkin) 06:15, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm sincerely sorry for all, I'm too fast with the mass deletion without reconsidering what may happen. They should have been in DRs, however I had no time after that. Now, I have restored all of them. However, I'm not so sure about all of them so I will leave the DR open. If there are no problems, then it should be closed --Morning (talk) 11:55, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
OK. Thank you! --sasha (krassotkin) 13:03, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Request, could you please comment on Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Eduemoni?

Hello there, I've uploaded two SVG files which I edited based upon w:Dogecoin official logo, Dogecoin is a cryptcurrency open-source project released under MIT license[4], its cofounder ummjackson released the original files under Creative Commons Attribution license[5][6], however a user nominated them claiming copyright violation. Could you please comment on this deletion request? Eduemoni (talk) 02:07, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

De-adminship warning

This talk page in other languages:

Dear Morning Sunshine/Archive 4, I am writing to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Commons because of inactivity.

If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section/Feb-Mar 2015 within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.

You can read the de-admin policy at Commons:Administrators/De-adminship.

Thank you, odder (talk) 20:49, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

De-adminship

Hi Morning Sunshine! This is just to inform you that yesterday night, you had your adminship privileges revoked on Meta by a Wikimedia steward; as you are an experienced editor, I gave you the autopatroller rights instead. Thank you for you service as an administrator, and I hope you will, one day, come back to us. Of course, please do feel free to re-apply for adminship when this happens :-) Thanks again! odder (talk) 10:40, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

File:Joey King 2010.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Your VFC installation method is deprecated

Hello Morning Sunshine, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
