Venezuela Political Map / Mapa de Venezuela

Hello, I like very much the Venezuela political map you have created, but I would like you to make a very important change on it. You drew a dotted line on the Essequibo river, but a continous line on the current border between Venezuela and Guyana. This is a mistake that must be reversed: the dotted line should be in the current border between Venezuela and Guyana, which is the border that is being claimed and, therefore, the line that can be modified. The line on the Essequibo river must be continuous. I can understand why you made this mistake; probably that way is easier to fill with color the map, But it is a very important and necessary change. Furthermore, you could draw drashed lines on the territory claimed by Venezuela, that's the way the venezuelan maps show the Guayana Esequiba territory. Hola, me gusta mucho el mapa político de Venezuela que has creado, pero me gustaría que consideraras hacerle un cambio muy importante. Dibujaste una línea discontinua sobre el Río Esequibo, y una línea continua en la frontera actual entre Venezuela y Guyana. Ese es un error que debe ser corregido: la línea discontinua debe ser la de la frontera actual entre Venezuela y Guyana, que es la línea fronteriza que está siendo reclamada y que, por tanto, podria ser modificada. La línea sobre el río Esequibo debe ser continua. Entiendo por qué cometiste este error, seguramente porque de esa forma era más fácil colorear el mapa, Pero es un cambio muy importante y necesario. Además, podrías dibujar trazos diagonales sobre el territorio reclamado por Venezuela, que es como los mapas venezolanos muestran el territorio en reclamación: Mapa de Venezuela con la Zona en Reclamación

Hola!, de acuerdo a la información Panamá logró su independencia no absoluta el 28 de noviembre de 1821, y fue absorbida como una dependencia de Colombia, y fue hasta 3 de noviembre de 1903, cuando logró su soberanía como República de Panamá; En este mapa entre los años 1867-1902 comienza el separatismo y entre 1903-1951 logra su independecia absoulta. --Keepscases (talk) 22:44, 25 December 2009 (UTC)  Answered

Nice image, but I kind of have to ask about the "Algerian" font used for the motto in that image. "Algerian" is semi-notorious among some as a font that was included in earlier versions of Windows, and ended up being used in contexts far beyond its range of typographic suitability (sometimes apparently because it was the first font shown on an alphabetized list)... Category:SVG flags of municipalities of La Guajira

Shouldn't the category rather be named "Category:SVG flags - municipalities of La Guajira" to reflect the usual naming scheme of the whole SVG flags cat tree? —Johannes Rössel (talk) 02:03, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

It could, but it is not necessary (I think), I created these categories based on the established names of categories that includes (flags of the municipalities in the department of "xxx"), but I did not know there was already a standard for svg categories, besides that I'm not sure how to rename categories on commons.--Shadowxfox (talk) 02:09, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

First of all, you can leave your reply on your own user page. This makes it vastly easier to follow the discussion; I'll notice it anyway. Then, for renaming categories, there is Commons:Rename a category. Mapas de Colombia, escala en las Islas.

Hola Shadowfox. Aquí viendo lo que me escribiste hace ya bastante rato de los mapas de Colombia. Ni me acuerdo si te respondí, pero aparantemente nmo. Te felicito por el gran trabajo que has hecho con los mapas. De lo poco que vi me gusto especialmente como quedaron los departamentos en el artículo de Colombia, con los enlaces en la imagen. Intenté hacer algo parecido en Atlántico con resultados muy modestos.

Te escribo para comentarte una duda. En los mapas mios de localización había un pequeño "no a escala" abajo de San andrés y Providencia. En los tuyos no lo veo. Creo que no es del todo irrelevante, pués alguién que solo vea uno de esos mapas podría pensar que que son "así" de grandes. Conozco colombianos que ni idea tenían de esto. Me parece que lo ideal sería poner las correspondientes escalas en cada una de las partes de la imagen. Tienes alguna idea si eso se puede hacaer en masa con algún programa?

Federal Republic of Central America map

Hi Shadowfox,

I've seen that you were the last to edit the SVG orthographic projection map for the Federal Republic of Central America (at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Federal_Republic_of_Central_America_(orthographic_projection).svg ). However I've noticed that the map is somewhat inaccurate when it comes to borders; it has Belize and the Mosquito Coast as being part of the FRCA despite those areas never having been controlled by Central America during the existence of the FRCA. Those areas had only been claimed by the federal republic of Central America but only the Mosquito Coast ever came under the control of any the FRCA's successor states. The original creator of the map (TownDown) had a partially correct map but then another editor (Keepscases - who was blocked in February as a sockpuppet of Wikisole, Herladico) "corrected" it. Would it be possible to show a proper map by having the areas actually controlled shown in solid green while the areas claimed but not controlled (Belize and the Mosquito Coast) shown by horizontal shading of green stripes?72.27.169.85 04:07, 4 October 2010 (UTC)  Not done

Panamanian Coat of Arms

Thank you for creating the Panamanian Coat of Arms. However, please note that at some point in your update history, you switched the positions of the sun and the moon. As it appears in most depictions in Panama, the sun in on the left and the moon on the right (i.e. http://www.asamblea.gob.pa/main/ - Page of the National Assembly).

Recently, controversy has erupted over a misprint of the shield in our country (a mace was accidentaly drawn instead of the pick that should appear), so a lot of people will be reviewing this page.

Would you be so kind as to make this correction?

Those maps are wrong. All you had to do was to click on the link to Emperor Pedro II's biograph to see what were the Brazilian borders back then. Acre became part of Brazil only in the beginning of the 20th century, not in 1889. Also, Brazil had treaty limits with Uruguay (in 1851), Peru (in 1851 and 1874), the Republic of New Granada (later Colombia, in 1853), Venezuela (in 1859), Bolivia (in 1867) and Paraguay (in 1872). The early 20th century treaties had as goal to reaffirm the 19th century treaties. Brazil had become a republic and had to make sure that its neighbors would respect the treaties signed when it was an Empire. --Lecen (talk) 18:57, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed you mentioned a date on File:Map_of_New_Granada_-_Prov_Tequendama_(1855).png. Please know that in order for dates to be automatically detected and translated into other languages it needs to be in the YYYY-MM-DD format (ie. 2024-01 for January 2024 or 2024-05-26 for 26 May 2024). Also, for other (less specific) dates use {{Other date}} for centuries, ranges, 'circa' etc. like this: {{other date|between|1899|1903}} for "between 1899 and 1903

Mapas históricos de Colombia

Creo que debes revisar el tratado de Pasto de 1832 en el cual el Ecuador cede mucho territorio a Colombia, si no me crees mira lo que dice en el artículo de Juan José Flores:

Pasto, Popayán y Buenaventura se habían incorporado voluntariamente al Ecuador. El Presidente Juan José Flores, luego de mandar guarniciones a Pasto, visitó esas ciudades, donde expidió un decreto en que declaraba incorporado el Cauca al Ecuador. El Congreso Ordinario de 1831 declaró oficialmente la incorporación del Departamento de Cauca al Ecuador. El 22 de julio de 1831 Nueva Granada (Colombia) de manera insistente reclamaba la devolución de este Departamento al Ecuador y éste mantenía su negativa, fue ahondándose una difícil situación para ambos países.

El General José H. López, se sublevó en Popayán en favor de Nueva Granada y se entabló un enfrentamiento militar entre el ejército Ecuatoriano dirigido por Flores y el Granadino, comandado por José María Obando. A pesar de sus dotes militares Flores no pudo triunfar porque el frente interno de Ecuador se debilitó debido a los levantamientos de Ambato y Latacunga en contra del Gobierno de Flores.

Los soldados ecuatorianos triunfaron en algunos combates, pero la falta de abastecimientos los hizo doblegar, a más de esto hubo traición tanto de oficiales como de tropa del batallón Quito, lo que determinó que la ciudad de Pasto cayera en poder de los soldados de Nueva Granada. Ante esta situación Flores celebró un Tratado de paz y límites con Nueva Granada en la ciudad de Pasto el 8 de diciembre de 1832, fijándose el río Carchi como límite fronterizo entre ambos Estados dejando pendiente la decisión sobre los puertos de la Tola y Tumaco, en la provincia de Buenaventura. El Tratado de Pasto tan solo dio límites a una parte de la frontera, no así al resto del territorio del Ecuador que vino a demarcarse posteriormente con Colombia.

Después se estableció el Caquetá como límite oriental.

En 1904 se da el tratado Tobar- Río Branco: es:Tratado Tobar-Rio Branco

El Tratado Tobar-Rio Branco fue celebrado amistosamente entre Ecuador y Brasil el día 6 de mayo de 1904, en la ciudad de Río de Janeiro, antigua capital de Brasil. Tuvo por finalidad el arreglo de límites de estos dos países. Intervino por el Ecuador el Dr. Carlos Rodolfo Tobar y por el Brasil el Sr. José María da Silva Paranho, Barón de Rio Branco. Este tratado fue ratificado en mayo de 1905 y canjeado en la ciudad de Petrópolis. En la parte resolutiva expresa: La República del Ecuador y la República de los Estados Unidos del Brasil acuerdan que, terminando favorablemente para el Ecuador, como esta República espera, el litigio que sobre limites existe entre el Ecuador y el Perú, la frontera entre el Ecuador y Brasil, en la parte que confinen, sea la misma señalada por el Art. VII de la Convención que se celebró entre Brasil y el Perú, en Lima, el 23 de octubre de 1851, con la modificación constante en el Acuerdo asimismo firmado en Lima el 11 de febrero de 1874, para la permuta de territorios en la línea Iza o Putumayo, esto es, que la frontera - en todo o en parte - según el resultado del antedicho litigio, sea la línea geodésica que va de la boca del riachuelo San Antonio, en la márgen izquierda del Amazonas, entre Tabatinga y Leticia, y termina en la confluencia del Apaporis con el Yapurá o Caquetá, menos en la sección del rio Iza o Putumayo, cortada por la misma línea donde el alveo del rio, entre los puntos de intersección, formará la division.

Según este tratado Ecuador tuvo que renunciar sus viejos títulos sobre el dominio territorial al este de la línea Apaporis-Tabatinga entre el río Amazonas y el río Caquetá ( 69.000 Km² ) en favor a Brasil.

Y en 1916 sucede el tratado Muñoz Vernaza Suarez:

El 15 de julio de 1916 se celebró un Tratado de límites, suscrito por los Ministros Plenipotenciarios de Ecuador y Colombia, actuando por el Ecuador el Dr. Alberto Muñoz Vernaza y por Colombia el Sr. Fidel Suárez, el mismo que señaló los límites entre ambos países como sigue: Partiendo de la boca del rio Mataje, en el Océano Pacifico, aguas arriba de dicho rio, hasta encontrar sus fuentes en la cumbre del gran ramal de los Andes que separa las aguas tributarias del rio Santiago de las que van al Mira; sigue la línea de la frontera por la mencionada cumbre hasta la cabecera del rio Canumbi, y por este rio aguas abajo hasta su boca en el Mira; éste aguas arriba hasta su confluencia con el rio San Juan; por este rio aguas arriba hasta la boca del Arroyo o quebrada Agua-Hedionda, y por ésta hasta encontrar el origen principal del rio Carchi, por este rio aguas abajo hasta la boca de la quebrada de Tejes o Teques, y por esta quebrada hasta el cerro de la Quinta, de donde sigue la línea al cerro de Troya, y las cumbres de éste hasta el llano de los Ricos; toma después la quebrada Pun desde su origen hasta su desembocadura en el Chingual o Chanquer (según algunos geógrafos); de alli una línea a la cumbre de donde vierte la fuente principal del rio San Miguel, este rio aguas abajo, hasta el Sucumbios, y éste hasta su desembocadura en el rio Putumayo; de esta boca en dirección sude oeste el divortium aquarum entre el rio Putumayo y el rio Napo, y por este divortium aquarum hasta el origen principal del rio Ambiyacu, y por el curso de este rio hasta su desembocadura en el rio Amazonas: siendo entendido que los territorios situados en la margen septentrional del Amazonas y comprendidos entre esta línea de frontera y el limite con el Brasil, pertenecen a Colombia, la cual por su parte deja en salvo los posibles derechos de terceros

En este tratado Ecuador renuncio sus viejos títulos (Real Cédula de 1563 y Real Cédula de 1740) de dominio de territorios (186.600 Km² ) entre el río Caquetá y el río Napo-Amazonas en favor de Colombia, con lo cual se hizo Colombia colindante con el Brasil en la línea Apaporis-Tabatinga. Anteriormente la línea Apaporis-Tabatinga fue establecido como frontera entre Brasil y Ecuador según el Tratado Tobar-Rio Branco el 6 de marzo de 1904.

Despues Colombia regala parte de estos territorios a Perú en 1822 en el Tratado Salomón-Lozano. Así Colombia ganó mucho territorio ecuatoriano. David C. S.

Quizas no has visto un mapa así, porque eres colombiano, la Real Audiencia de Quito llegaba hasta la desmbocadura del Amazonas, porque Orellana partió de Quito en una expedición que terminó con este gran descubrimiento. Además cuando Orellana descubrió el Río, primero lo bautizó como río San Fransisco de Quito y despúes le cambió.

Después de la Gran Colombia, el Ecuador llegaba hasta Brasil, esto consta el Tratado Tobar-Río Branco; dime tú de donde salió la línea Apaporis-Tabatinga, que Colombia tiene ahora (se la marcó en el tratado). Dime entonces que es el tratado Muñoz Vernaza-Suarez. David C. S.

Felicitaciones Shadowxfox, tu hicistes el escudo de Chía (Cundinamarca), y me gustó muchísimo, tu eres el mejor diseñador de escudos de todos. Ahora, necesito que tu hagas otro escudo, el escudo del municipio de Soacha (Cundinamarca), un municipio cercano a Bogotá. En el artículo en español aparece en formato PNG, y este diseño me gusta un poquito. Por eso quiero que usted haga este escudo de Soacha en Gráficos Vectoriales (SVG) como usted pasó con el escudo de Chía que usted hizo, para mejorar el artículo en español y en otros idiomas. Hola, viendo esta contribución que creo que es de su autoría, me parece muy buena pero creo que debe ser mejorada: 1.- Cortaron la frontera marítima en el Atlántico acordada con Trinidad y Tobago. 2.- No hay leyenda de lo que significan los puntos verdes, rojos y negros. 3.- Hay dos líneas simultáneas con Rep. I've done all the topographic maps (exept San Andres y Providencia). I noticed that sometimes the boundaries doesn't fit between your blank maps and the ones I've done (following rivers, for example). I don't know where is the mistake.

Perhaps you could redo them in .svg format. The topographic background comes from http://www.maps-for-free.com/ (GNU licence, version 1.2 or later).

This isn't a command I've ever used but see this: User:CommonsDelinker/commands/documentation#To replace one image with another. I just use "move" if I'm doing a rename of my own. ¿Qué tal así? Espero que ahora sea adecuado. La verdad es que tenías razón, lo más ajustado es esto. Lo que pasó es que quise mostrarlo con la perfección de la heráldica primitiva, con el diseño heráldico del águila del rey Manfredo de Sicilia, pero éste de Bogotá ya es tardío, casi barroco. Queda más ajustado a la realidad aunque he tenido disgusto al modificarlo, el diseño me parece mucho mejor con el águila arcaica, incluso cubre más fondo. Capa de hidrografía-lacustre-litoral para mapas

Hola Shadowxfox, quisiera felicitarte por tu impecable trabajo gráfico, realmente es digno de admirar! A proposito de ello, recurro a ti si pudieras orientarme sobre donde conseguir la capa de hidrografía (lineas costeras, fluviales y lacustres para GIS) que utilizas en tus mapas. Estoy realizando una serie de mapas físicos municipales y estatales de Venezuela para las secciones geográficas de sus respectivos artículos, y me ha sido muy dificil conseguir dichas capas hidrográficas para la parte septentrional de Suramérica; o al menos con el nivel de detalle que presentas en los mapas que publicas.

Si se trata de una plantilla regional (suramericana, caribeña, etc) u organizada por tiles mucho mejor, así los mapas de estados fronterizos e insulares no quedarían "mochos" sin ríos ni litorales en las islas y naciones vecinas.

Hola buen día te quiero comunicar que el escudo de Caucasia (ver escudo http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Escudo_de_Caucasia.svg ) posee algunas inconformidades municipales, que violan la integridad de símbolos con los que se identifican el municipio, primero te felicito por reformarlo, pero en la esquina superior derecha en los recuadros es una batea de extracción de oro mas no una olla,lo conveniente seria que le quitases los ganchos y la aplanaras mas, otra inconformidad es la bovina o res que esta de otro color, el cual debe ser Blanco, con respecto a los colores, es un verde mas claro y mas brillante el que bordea el escudo, pero te luciste con este nuevo proyecto.--CARLOS JOSE ALVAREZ (talk) 02:18, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

The SCA is focused on authenticity, and the device will be depicted on shields and banners and on other physical objects where the inclusion of text for attribution and a license would detract from the authenticity.

The device would also be recorded in the SCA's internal records. I could certainly mention you as the original author in the registration paperwork that is submitted with the device, so it would at least be part of the record.

Would that be acceptable? If so, then let me know and I'll ensure that the attribution is added to the registration data for the device.

well, I don't have problem that you use that logo in SCA organization (in the way that you want), and I consider myself satisfied as long as you mention me in the registration paperwork.

Cambio de Categoría

Hola Shadowxfox, gracias por tu sugerencia, pero quisiera aclarar que mis cambios no fueron para poner dichas categorías en español sino para que coincidieran con la plantilla commonscat de Wikipedia, el error se debió a que los municipios en los que había creado tales categorías no las tenían o estaban con el formato de nombre de la Wikipedia en español, es decir usando paréntesis para la especificación de su ubicación, por su parte los municipios de Antioquia ya están con el formato que usa la coma, no se que me recomiendes, pero me parece que es mejor y se da menos a confusiones el uso de los paréntesis que también son usados en muchas Wikipedias. --LeinadCQ (talk) 18:31, 22 June 2013 (UTC)  Answered
