request permission to reproduce table ( Russian Male Death Rate since 1950.phg) in book.[edit]

Dear Lokiit,

I am currently writing a book for Palgrave Macmillan Publishers entitled Death in a Global Age which is scheduled to be published October 2012. I am writing to request permission to include the following material in my book:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Russian_Male_Death_Rate_since_1950.PNG

I would like to receive non-exclusive permission to use the above mentioned material for this and future editions of my book, in all media and formats and in all language(s) for distribution throughout the world, and to include excerpts from my/our book in which the above mentioned material might appear in advertising, publicity, and promotional materials for the book, for example Amazon’s Search Inside the Book.

Please note that use in electronic format will be for versions which are equivalent to or substitute for the print version. By way of example, distribution in electronic form might include rental or sale of the book in whole or in parts (such as chapters).

My publication is written for an academic audience. It will have an estimated initial print-run of 1200 paperback copies at a price of £18.99, and 200 hardback copies at £55.00. Sales of the e-book version are anticipated to be of a similar level. Please note that I have provided our estimated initial print run/sales expectation for your information, but we request permission to cover the lifetime of the work. I will make full acknowledgement to your work in the usual manner, but please do provide any specific acknowledgement wording you would like us to use.

If you do not control the appropriate rights to this material, please advise to whom I should apply. I would be most grateful if you would email me a signed copy of this letter to indicate that you will grant permission for this use on the terms requested by 1st May 2012.

Many thanks for your assistance. Yours sincerely Ruth McManus (ruth.mcmanus@canterbury.ac.nz) ______________________________ As the authorized rights-holder of the above mentioned material I hereby grant permission to re-use such material in accordance with the terms stated above. Best Wishes Ruth

I'd like to learn more about your book. Specifically, whether it will be based on up to date statistics regarding the material relevant to the image (ie. Russia's post-Soviet demographic crisis up to and including its recovery to a growing population, and more specifically, rapidly falling mortality rates). I would be flattered to have my work serve an academic purpose; yet devastated if it were to be used to support prevalent hyperbolic and misguided views of Russia's "doomsday" demographics. That said, the image is released under a Creative Commons Attribution license, so do what you will. LokiiT (talk) 10:31, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lokiit, Thanks for getting in touch. If I may, I'll communicate with you directly via email. R.

You have my permission to use the image. LokiiT (talk) 02:12, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Putin Approval Rating needs update[edit]

Hi, LokiiT. Do you think you could update File:Putin Approval Rating 2000-2008.PNG? GreyHood Talk 10:13, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh perhaps better create separate graphs for Putin's Premiership and for his 12 years in power. GreyHood Talk 10:19, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll put it on my to-do list, I'm pretty busy these days though so it won't be right away. Also do you know if there are updated population figures yet so I can incorporate the census correction into the population chart? LokiiT (talk) 19:12, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Natural_Population_Growth_of_Russia.PNG[edit]

The chart is really impressive. It would explain for people even more if it had 3 dotted lines instead of 1:

1985 - Gorbachev came to power
1991 - Yeltsin came to power (the line it already exists - can be combined with "USSR collapse")
1999 - Putin came to power.

Since every new leader coming to power caused major changes in USSR/Russia, I believe it will open eyes for many readers.
