This template was used for German logos that were eligible for design patents, such that copyright protection was excluded because of the legal principle lex specialis. The template has been deprecated, because Commons is intended to be as free as possible, and therefore does not accept trademarked items. You have until 00:00 October 2, 2006 (UTC), to move all files to your local Wikipedia if it accepts logos. Then they will be deleted.

The new gallery is jsut a list of all the 2006 featured pictures, less two that have been de-featured, with a number against each to allow voters to vote easily. Using the old A and B lists, and expecting voters to add ther own choices to the page was just too complicated. --MichaelMaggs 18:10, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
