740.038[edit]

La macchina e` transitata per Padova nel pomeriggio: e` arrivata al segnale di protezione alle 16:23 viaggiando in regime di tradotta. E' stata instradata al binario 5 (invece che al 2, indovina per chi era l'avviso "Servizio: treno storico al binario 5 invece che al 2" :) :) :) - avevo una ventina di litri di acqua, un tavolino ikea ancora imballato e i miei bagagli :) ). In composizione la barchetta a 2 assi col carbone, il bagagliaio-stube con funzione di carro appoggio (ci ho passato la notte) e 4 carrozze Centoporte tra cui una rarissima di prima seconda e terza classe (anche se la marcatura dice solo prima e seconda).

Mi guardo il filmato stasera a casa con Linux, che le macchine Windows del cliente ovviamente non ci riescono. La 740.038 e` comunque del 1906, prima fornitura ancora con la guida a destra. Peccato che i filmati .mov non vadano su wikipedia, ma la Gianozia Orientale si sta attrezzando per convertirli.

Allora, la macchina è una 345 nella vecchia livrea verde e castano.Il convoglio è standard per i trasferimenti, questa volta il bagagliaio non ci ha seguiti in viaggio, ma è stato il nostro ostello per la notte. L'interno fortunatamente venne attrezzato a stube dalla provincia di Bolzano per treni che portavano turisti in Alto Adige, ci offrivano le delikatessen tipiche ai passeggeri.
Per la conversione, alcuni sono molto pesanti, i filmati sono disponibili su http://www.trenistorici.it e sono dichiaratamente sotto GNU FDL. Se ti serve qualcosa di scritto per fare il relicensing doppia CC/GNU FDL per wikipedia dimmelo. Ma guardo cosa riesco a fare io.

Re: Copyright to fix[edit]

Hi,

I fixed the Wikiquote one, but the Wikiversity one cannot be changed unless WMF do some deal with the creator (not a Wikimedian). I am not sure this is the official logo anyway - there is a vote going on at m:Wikiversity/logo. I left some comments at m:Talk:Logo and wrote a message on the textbook-l mailing list. Caliper[edit]

Hi, I made some fixes to Image:Using_the_caliper_new_en.gif.
The image some bad mistakes that were pointed out at the Commons:Bar_italiano (i suppose you ar not a technician :-)

  1. the measurement was given in centimeters: this is an error since the caliper is used for technical measurement, and the official standard for technical measurement is the millimeter
  2. the measurement reported only one decimal, while the common use stated by ISO wants two decimals

I replaced the image (since the wrong one was linked), if you feel this as an abuse or an error, I will upload your version again and load the correct one with another name. --Jollyroger 11:41, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for your concern. But in this case I don't think these modifications are a real improvement, for the foloowing reasons:
  1. This an exact replica of an actual caliper and the scale is graduated in centimeters. To display the result in milimeters is a source of confusion for anyone trying to understand how the instrument works.
  2. To insert an aditional significant digit is to imply an accuracy of 0,01 mm (0,001 cm), which is not exact. The accuracy (and the instrumental precision) of this mechanical caliper is around 0,05 mm.

As you see I'm not a complete ignorant on the matter ;_). Yes, I would prefer the original version to be uploaded. - Alvesgaspar 11:59, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About VP, I know it is not a great system... the it.wp system looks interesting. What if you are the type of person who likes to follow all discussions? There's no easy way to see which discussions are "hot topics", is there? It is probably worth proposing on the VP itself. If it has no major objections, then the hard bit is finding someone to implement it (or do it yourself). I think we have a bot archive ours at the moment.

About Commons adminship, sometimes people come from other wikis and flood RfAs with either positive or negative comments. In general Commoners are smart enough not to let very emphatic people sway their opinion too much either way. The overwhelming thing that will determine your RfA is your action on Commons. If you can point to a couple of months or so of good, helpful contributions on Commons, that is what voters will really look at. This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Deposito Locomotive di Pistoia[edit]

A quanto mi risulta Rimessa Ferroviaria di Pistoia è il nome del sito amatoriale relativo all'associazione che cura il materiale storico presente nel Deposito Locomotive della città toscana (nome più adatto secondo le convenzioni ferroviarie in uso). Siccome i nomi su commons vanno generalmente internazionalizzati sarebbe più corretto indicarlo come Pistoia railway depot. -- Ciao, Moliva (talk) 20:09, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Infatti non ho parlato di regole ferree, tuttalpiù mi affido al buon senso: siccome l'inglese è la lingua internazionale di commons credo sia più agevole, per tutti, utilizzare un termine (generico) anglosassone. Poi se guardiamo ai tedeschi, ci hanno creato una pagina intitolata Tendabahn per la linea del Tenda italo-francese, poi è stata creata la categoria anglofona a parziale rimedio, ma tant'è... :) Idem per il termine in italiano: se indichiamo su wikipedia le rimesse del gruppo FS come Deposito Locomotive di Nomecittà (di Catania, di Castelvetrano etc) per uniformità sarebbe meglio seguire questa prassi, anche se il DL in questione è dismesso. -- Ciao, Moliva (talk) 21:26, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
