US Flag Photo Question[edit]

About this photo: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:US_Flag_Backlit.jpg

Would you have a problem with it being used on the website for Four Block (fourblock.org), a non-profit organization that connects war veterans with job opportunities?

I don't really represent Four Block; I'm simply helping them with their website. If you don't want us to use it, no problem! There are plenty of flag photos out there. This one is great and high-quality, though, so I thought I'd ask.

US Flag Backlit.jpg[edit]

Hi Jnn13. Why did you withdraw File:US Flag Backlit.jpg from FPC? It´s a really cool photgraph and I think it has a pretty good chance to get featured. Cheers, norro 10:55, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I get it - incidental national flags are OK (e.g., if they are not the subject of the image), but I wonder if this is 'incidental,' when even the name of the image identifies the flag as an integral component of the image. Makes me wonder if the image would have been approved without the flag? Should the image be delisted as FP, or should it be put to another vote, given the 'no national flags' policy? Also striking (imho) is that there is no mention of the 'national flag' issue in ANY of the photos linked here...Flag1, Flag2, Flag3Jnn13 (talk) 23:05, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Tulips_on_Park_Ave_edit.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Wikimedia blog profile[edit]

Jnn13, I'm moving this interview request from one of the Wikimedia blog volunteer writers to your talk page. Apologies for him having put it on your user page. If you're interesting in doing an interview, we'd be happy to profile you on the blog.

Hi Jnn13,

My name is Michael Guss and I'm a communications volunteer with the Wikimedia Foundation in San Francisco. We have a feature on the Wikimedia blog [1] to profile the photographers behind the beautiful photos that become Picture of the Day (POTD) on Wikimedia Commons. You can see some of our past POTD posts here: https://blog.wikimedia.org/c/communications/picture-of-the-day/ Given that one of your photos "Panorama of New York City Skyline in 2009" is scheduled for 11 September 2013 , we'd love to do a short interview with you by email to discuss your photography and your POTD. Please let me know if you would be interested! You can email me mguss@wikimedia.org or respond on my talk page.

Thanks,

Michael MGuss (WMF) (talk) 19:44, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Flag photo[edit]

Hello, Jnn13. I'm with the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists and am not sure how to credit your flag photo...is it just Jnn13 or is there a different name? I would be using it on social media, most likely. Best, Janice jsinclaire@thebulletin.org
